Christian inclined his head and thanked the doctor.

Then he said to the doctor, "She could use a medical examination too, doctor." He gave Jessica a wink.

She hurriedly said with a wave of her hand, "That won't be necessary. My wounds are superficial. I'll go have them dressed later."

Christian shot her a disapproving look, signaling that she must not defy him.
