Felton's disclosure of the upcoming return of the owner of the manor house seemed to have added some tension to the atmosphere in the room.

But Christian, appearing as composed as always, quickly stabilized the mood of the meeting by saying impassively, "I'm not sure if we'll see him."

"What do you mean, White?" Felton asked, confused.

"This is no place to dawdle. Tell our men to pack their stuff in the next two days. I want everybody ready to leave at a moment's notice," Christian instructed.

His tone of voice was solemn and determined, as though he had had it planned out some time ago, so there was nothing uncharacteristic about his words.

Felton knitted his brows. "But White, you're still recovering."

"And I will be recovering for a long time!" The look in Christian's eyes became stern as he reprimanded, "We're running for our lives, not on vacation!"
