As I found myself seated in the black Mercedes Benz, I snapped out of the spell cast by this handsome stranger. The fear of being kidnapped seeped into my bones. I didn't want to be in this situation, but I definitely didn't want to be abducted.
"Start talking," I said to the stranger, who looked at me with amusement. "Don't think you can get away with kidnapping me or-"
"Get away with what? From what I know, no one would come looking for you," he said mockingly before his expression shifted to seriousness. "I'm sorry if I scared you, but I knew this was the only way I could get you to listen to me."
"Listen to you? I don't even know you," I cried out in frustration, throwing my hands in the air.
"You don't need to know me to hear what I'm about to say-"
"Then why don't you just get on with it?!" I finally snapped at him, studying his charming eyes for any hint of a response. Instead, he smiled and apologized once more.
"I'm so sorry, Amanda. I-"
"Hold up," I interrupted, turning to him in confusion. "How do you know me?"
"Well, the internet. With your current situation, who wouldn't know Amanda? The suddenly divorced wife of Billionaire Marcus."
"I know my situation, you don't have to rub it in," I hissed sharply.
"I didn't mean it that way. I am sorry. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Lucas Dominic, the CEO and owner of D&G global tech limited."
Shock momentarily robbed me of my ability to speak. I had never seen him before, but his name was not one to miss. Lucas Dominic, the richest man in the U.S., known for his business acumen and strength.
I opened my mouth to speak, but my words got caught in my throat.
"I know it's a lot to take in, but I don't have the luxury of time. I need to get on with why I am here."
"Why are you here?" I asked, shocked. Could he even hear himself? He was Marcus' biggest and unbeatable rival. "I don't see any reason why we should be having a discussion, Mr. Dominic. Why would you want to talk to your competitor's ex-wife?"
"Because I have a deal for you," he said, sitting up straight and fixing me with his commanding gaze.
"What deal could you possibly make with me?" I couldn't recall being deeply involved in business to have someone of his stature take notice of me.
"I know everything that happened with Marcus, and as much as you're dealing with it, you aren't willing to let go."
"Let go?"
A deep chuckle rumbled from his chest. "Should I spell it out for you, Amanda? You want revenge on them."
He glanced out of the window towards Marcus and Mirabelle taking wedding photos with radiant smiles.
"I do not seek revenge on anyone, Mr. Dominic. It was a pleasure meeting someone of your status, but I really need to go."
"If that were true," he began calmly, ignoring my quest to leave . "You would have left the wedding a while ago. Don't get me wrong, I sympathize with you, but we could use this to our advantage. I could use you to get to Marcus, and you can use me for your revenge."
I couldn't believe what he was proposing, let alone comprehend it. He wanted to use me as a tool to get to Marcus? And I could exact my revenge against those individuals?
I couldn't wrap my head around it. Why would he approach me when he could easily outmaneuver Marcus with his business skills?
I have had my fair share of business dealings before I handed the company over to Marcus and I could tell that Mr Dominic here could sweep Marcus in the blink of an eye.
"You've got to be kidding me," I said, my disbelief palpable in my voice. "But assuming your proposition is true, how do we achieve our goals?"
I raised my chin, awaiting his response as I subtly studied his features once again until his next words jolted me with a huge shock.
"We'll get married," he said calmly.
Wait, what?!
Amanda Pov.As I carefully wrapped the small gift box in shiny silver paper, my heart raced with excitement. It was our special day. Our fifth anniversary. Marcus and I have been married for five years, and it's been bliss.I knew he would be thrilled, just like he always was whenever I put in the effort to make him happy. It was already 11pm and he still hasn't returned, my worry increased.
