Blaming The Stars

"This is Ellie."

-Ellie

"Yeah. I know."

-Alex

My heart started beating faster than usual.

"I saw your account details."

-Alex

"How are you doing?"

-Ellie

"I'm great. What about you?"

-Alex

"I'm good."

-Ellie

"What's up?"

-Alex

"Ceiling is up ;)"

-Ellie

"Wasn't that an outdated joke?"

-Alex

"Oops! Sorry. I didn't update for the latest jokes."

-Ellie

"Hahaha. Now that's funny."

-Alex

"What are you doing?"

-Ellie

"Texting a beautiful girl ;)"

-Alex

I don't know why but my heart pricked knowing that he's texting a girl. That too a beautiful girl. 

"Oh. Great. Continue then."

-Ellie

I switched off my phone and slept for some time. After having my beautiful nap, I switched on my phone, which was flooded with messages from Alex.

"Yup. Sure."

-Alex

"What are you doing?"

-Alex

"How's your day going?"

-Alex

"Hey. Are you there?"

-Alex

"Text me when you're online!"

-Alex

My eyes popped out while staring at those messages. Seriously? Alex texted me these messages? I thought he was busy texting a beautiful girl. Then why did he send these messages to me as if he's interested in me?

My chain of thoughts broke with a beep of my phone. I looked at the message that popped up.

"Are you ignoring me?"

-Alex

I quickly replied to him with a "No".

"Then why didn't you reply when you saw my texts?"

-Alex 

Now this message caught me off guard.

"I thought you were busy chatting with some beautiful girl."

-Ellie

"I was. Until she got fed up and stopped replying to me."

-Alex

"Oh. By the way, who's that girl?"

-Ellie

I don't know what got into me to ask this question.

"Don't you know?"

-Alex

"Nope."

-Ellie

"That's silly! How can you not understand whom I meant? Or are you teasing me by any chance ;)"

-Alex

What? Me? No way! Does he find me beautiful? I don't think so. 

We chatted for some time. I started liking him from the moment our eyes met. Now it's gradually increasing with each passing second. 

After a few days of texting, I understood that our tastes are similar. One fine day, while texting, I started getting missed calls from him. At first, I thought that might be by accident, but later on I understood that it was purely intentional. 

Couldn't he just man up and call me properly? Why is he acting like a teenager who has a silly crush and hesitant to talk?

"Are you calling me by accident!"

-Ellie

"No."

-Alex

"Do you want to talk to me?"

-Ellie

"Yes."

-Alex

"Ok. Let's talk then."

-Ellie

I started making a call to Alex which he received after a minute.

Now the current progress between me and Alex is, we started talking to each other instead of texting. Let's see what happens next. 

"Do you have a boyfriend?" Alex asked, making me feel nervous.

"Why are you asking that now?" I asked him in a surprised tone.

"Casually. If you're not comfortable, then no need to reply." Alex said in a disappointed tone.

"No. I don't have a boyfriend." I replied while sighing.

"Any girlfriend?" Alex asked in a teasing tone, making me want to smack him on his face.

"No!" I exclaimed.

"But why?" Alex asked with curiosity.

"I didn't find my THE ONE. For whom I've been waiting since childhood." I replied in a calm tone.

"Are you for real?" Alex asked in a baffled voice.

"Why?" I asked him in confusion.

"Did you, by any chance, come from any fairy land?" Alex asked, making me laugh out loud.

"What makes you ask such dumbest question?" I asked him.

"You've never been in a relationship right?" Alex asked in a desperate tone.

"No. But why are you asking me regarding my relationship status?" I asked while trying to be cool.

"Simply. Now tell me about your THE ONE." Alex asked me.

"Why should I tell you?" I asked him.

"Why shouldn't you tell me?" Alex asked.

"I don't know." I replied while pondering over the question.

"Maybe I can help you to meet him soon." Alex replied, making me break my chain of thoughts.

"Sorry. What?" I asked in confusion.

"Tell me what do you expect from your THE ONE?" Alex asked for which I started blushing.

"I don't know." I replied while pondering.

"Then how come you're waiting for your THE ONE? How will you identify him in the first place?" Alex asked.

"I don't know, " I simply answered.

"Ok then. Let's talk some other time." Alex said and was about to disconnect the call.

"Hey. Wait. Why are you hanging up soon?" I asked while getting nervous.

"You aren't replying to me properly. Then why should I talk to you?" Alex asked, making me shut my mouth as if someone zipped my mouth.

"Ok. Leave it. I hope you find your THE ONE soon." Alex said.

Unknowingly, my heart got pricked by his words making my eyes start brimming with tears. I stared at the night sky that's full of stars and the moon. I disconnected the call while tears started rolling down my cheeks freely. 

Wait a minute. Am I crying? What's wrong with me? Why am I crying in the first place? 

"Obviously because you expected alot from Alex. Now that he's wishing you, that you'd get your THE ONE soon, your poor heart which thought Alex was THE ONE for her, broke down and it's coming out from your eyes as tears!" My subconscious mind started replying to me.

"This is all your fault!" I yelled at stars making an angry face while wiping out my tears with my hands.

"Now why are you blaming them?" My subconscious mind asked me for which I started throwing daggers at sky.

"Because they are the reason for my current situation!" I exclaimed while angry tears are oozing out from my eyes.

"Huh! Now stop behaving like a silly and crazy kid. Explain clearly." My subconscious mind said.

"I asked the stars to align properly and send my THE ONE to me ASAP. But now I think, they got misaligned, making the wrong one enter my life instead of my THE ONE!!!" I cried out loud.
