Beau lay in the quiet of their bedroom, watching Lulu play silently on the floor, surrounded by the hum of medical equipment monitoring his recovery. The past weeks had a hell for him physically and mentally but it had been worse for his pregnant wife. He glanced at the empty space where Kaia used to slept next to him, now abandoned in favor of a makeshift bed close to him so she could rest without disturbing him but still be close enough to monitor him throughout the night.
