Beau had thought long and hard about what Kaia had said and could not believe it stung that much to hear her beg him to let her go. But as much as he had not even thought of wanting a child, the fact that Kaia was so quick to want to get rid of it made him all the more determined to keep it.

He felt she would do something utterly stupid if he let her go so he pulled her out of the car and to his front door without a word. "You'll stay with me until that child is born, after that I couldn't be bothered what you do with yourself. Pam will give you a room and you'll hand me the keys to your house."

Kaia blinked a couple of times before what he said could register in her mind. She had to stay with him? But she didn't want to. She actually wanted to leave town and disappear from his whole life. She did not want to bring him hurt and disappointment. That's what the hope of a new life did to a person. She slowly gave him her house keys and he left without a single word.
