CHAPTER 187

PRECIOUS

"No, no please. Aaahh!" I screamed at the top of my lungs, the sound echoing. My eyes flickered across the darkened room, attempting to discern any shapes, but I failed. The darkness seemed to seep into my heart.

The air felt heavy as my rapid breaths filled the space, and the pungent scent of fear lingered in the stillness. I clutched the bedsheets, my fingers trembling as if desperately trying to anchor themselves to reality.

I lifted my right hand ever so lightly and placed it on my chest, feeling the rapid thumping of my heart. It was beating wildly, as though chased by a racing train which was after its life.

Slowly, I tried taking some deep breaths, trying to see if I could stop the wild race my heart was onto but it remained the same.

I tried taking in my environment, my eyes scanning through the room but the darkness that ebbed through like a tide made it almost impossible.
