Chapter Two

After reuniting with my father, we went to an elegant restaurant. I am still wearing my school uniform, I forgot to come back for my exams because of my excitement being with my father.

“How are you? How’s your school, anything about you. Can you tell me? ” he sincerely asked. I can’t tell how I am happy right now, I thought in my mind he will never accept me and he will abandon me again, but look at now, his smile is so genuine while talking to me, as well as me.

“I am doing fine,” I answered.

“How about your mother? Is she okay? ” My smile faded when he asks me that question.

“We are not totally close to each other, but she’s doing fine too.” I let my happy face came back so the moment will not be awkward.

I remember my mother, if she will know I’m with my father today, for sure she will freak out. “How are you? Do you have your family now?” I don’t know why I'm asking this kind of question, but I really want to know about him for a short time, even it’s hurting me.

I saw how his face turned uncomfortable, “It’s okay if you already had your own family, it’s been years and this is the first time I saw you. Of course, you will have your own life without us.” I smiled at him after saying these things, I assured him that everything will be okay and I accept.

“Yeah, I have my own family now. I have been married for four years, but you don’t have a sibling, she has a child when she married me and as well like me. ” I nodded twice at what he said.

“Are they okay to be with? I mean, if this day will happen again, I want to know your family,” I said. He smiled at me, looks like he’s okay about what I said.

“You will know them soon, my wife had one son and one daughter, maybe you will be good if you’re with them soon. ” He’s like telling a story that full of a happy ending, I can see in his face that his life is okay now. I hope, I and my mother too will find our real happiness.

Maybe, my mother and my father are the proof that there’s no such thing as forever or a happy ending. “You’re still a kid, maybe it’s not time yet that you will know everything between me and your mother. There’s a lot of things you won’t understand,” he said. I know that maybe that’s the reason too why my mother doesn’t want to talk about it.

I stopped eating when I realized something, it’s almost time. My mother will freak out if I go home late. “I’m sorry, but I really need to go. I am pretty sure she will be mad at me,” I said to my father, he chuckled and stood up.

“Let’s go then, I know her and yeah, you’re right, she will be mad like a tiger. ” I can see that he really knew my mother well. I wondered why they’re not meant to be.

The car stopped meters away from our house, he’s not allowed to go out. Mom will see him. “Thank you, um D-dad,” I shuttered to say the last word. I am not still comfortable saying it. He pulled me and hugged me tightly. He touched my hair like what father’s really doing.

“Where have you been? ” I stopped walking in the living room when I heard her voice. I turned my head a little to her. I Gulped twice, I can feel my heart beating so fast. “Who were you with? I saw you in a black car. ” Shit, did she saw him? Please, no, no. It can’t be.

“Um, that’s my friend mom,” I answered with a smile on my face, but it looks like she didn’t bite my answer.

“Don’t play on me Andrianna, you don’t have a friend ever since. Who’s that? ” I can’t move or even say a piece of words. She really knew that I don’t have a friend, even one friend. I was such a lonely kid in our school.

“Um, it’s just a stranger mom. He helped to get home because something came up,” I lied, I know she won't bite this reason of mine.

“Stranger? You were a stranger, aren’t you scared to be with someone you don’t know? ” she said, I looked at her and nodded.

“I’m sorry mom, he just helped me and nothing more nothing less,” I said and turned my back. I went to my room, I leave a heavy sighed.

Even my mother scolds me, I am happy too. I found my father, no, he found me. He’s the one giving an effort to find me. Am I lucky, isn’t I?
