CHAPTER FIVE
MIRA
My phone beeped with a notification while sitting on my couch and enjoying a glass of wine.
I leaned forward and picked up the phone, which was lying on the table.
"A place has been secured for yourself and your daughter. My limousine would be coming to pick you up soon." The message read.
I scoffed, already knowing who the message was from.
So he really didn't remember me.
And he was still as selfish and wicked as he used to be then. He never changed even one bit.
At the thought of that, sharp pain swept through my entire body, making my face turn white. But this time around, it was not out of agony like anyone would think. It was out of anger and the burning urge for revenge.
I was holding tightly onto the side of the couch in exasperated breath when my five year old daughter walked up to me.
"Mum, I think I've got something in my eyes." The innocent velvety voice floated into my ears.
I turned my eyes to look at the lad in front of me, her clear brown eyes looking up at me expectantly.
My eyes ran through her small frame, and I shook my head. She looked so sweet and almost reminded me of the younger version of myself.
"Go pack up. We are going on a trip." I harshly said to the lad before I lifted myself off the couch.
"Mum, just like that?"
"Just do as I said. The limousine will be here in no time." I barked at her, and she shuddered before running towards the direction of her room.
I stood at a spot for a moment, my eyes glued to the direction she had just gone.
How would it have been possible to forgive him when something that is compulsorily a part of me kept reminding me of him.
I was stacking up some tools in my tool back when the limousine pulled up in my driveway.
"Mia," I called harshly as I walked out of the house holding my toolbox.
It was followed by Mia walking out of her room, dragging a small bag pack consisting of the little clothing she was going to be needing for our short stay.
"Mum, is Dad coming with us?" My innocent daughter asked again as we both got into the limousine.
"No," I answered curtly and didn't bother giving anymore explanation.
As soon as I got into the limousine, the cold air from the fully air-conditioned car hit me, causing me to close my eyes and inhale sharply.
This was what affluence felt like. Within the past few years, I had the opportunity to have a little feel of it because of the skills that I had developed over the years.
Nostalgia hit me as soon as the limousine pulled up inside the pack house, and all the memories immediately began to flood in. It was not like I had forgotten anyway.
I swallowed hard and tightened my fists as I looked around the premises where I had received the worst humiliation of my life five years ago, where the three brothers had tossed me around as if I was their play thing.
The sun was already starting to make its way behind the horizon, spreading thick, beautiful orange colours around the environment.
The limousine finally came to a halt, and the driver came over to the side to open the door to let me out.
The place looked almost the same, like nothing had changed with in the past five years. There are only a few improvements with the advent of technology here and there.
There were a few pack members going around with their daily activities, it may seem as though they were fully concentrating on their work, but I could see them peering from the corner of their eyes, probably wondering who is this mysterious woman who had showed up in their pack.
I was standing there and looking around when a young woman about my age walked up to me.
"Good day ma'am, you must be the fetish we have all been waiting for." She said in a smooth, velvety voice. She equally had a bright smile on her face, and I couldn't help but think that the smile was part of her job.
I nodded my head and returned her smile while running my eyes down her entire frame.
She was dressed in formal outfits like a hotel concierge, her hair packed into a neat ponytail.
"Come on, I am going to show you to your room, you can leave your bags in the car, I will have the driver bring them in."
I smiled and nodded my head. However, I reached out for the bag, which contained my tools.
"But, I will have to pick this one up myself. It contains things that I can't leave behind." I said and offered her a smile, which she returned warmly.
I reached out for Mia and held her hand in mine.
I looked around the pack house one more time before I walked behind her, into the main building, wondering why I suddenly felt a strong force of attraction pulling me towards a particular direction. It was something I could not explain, something I had only felt about five years ago.
"No way." I whispered. There was no way that was possible. After all, he had already rejected me five years ago, right? And I rejected him too.
It was definitely my heart playing tricks with me. I let out a deep breath and kept walking.
Suddenly, my heart began to beat involuntarily and wouldn't stop no matter how hard I tried to make it stop. The force pulling me equally increased.
I didn't have a wolf, I would have tried to find out from her what was going on.
At that same instant, the young lady who was leading me paused in her tracks, almost bumping into the young man who had just come down from the staircase.
"Good day, Alpha Jeremy." She bowed and made way for him to pass.
My heart dropped at that mention of the name and began pounding hard against my chest.
No way!
Jeremy walked past the maid, brushing past me.
His scent wafted into my nose, and I felt butterflies start to dance inside my stomach like there was a feast being held there.
The force of attraction hit stronger. Slowly, I felt myself being pulled towards him. At this point, I no longer had control of myself, I turned around to look at him even, only to be met with the biggest shock of my life.
Despite having walked past me, hr halted in his tracks and turned around to look at me. The only explanation to that would be that he also felt the attraction.
His eyes peered into mine for the next few minutes. Wr both stood static there peering into each other's eyes.
"Ma'am, shall we?" The voice of the woman who had led me in pulled ne back to reality. "Let's go."
"Sure," I nodded and flashed her a smile.
I settled into the room where she led me to.
Looking around the room, one can easily tell that it was a room reserved for guests. there was just a single king-sized bed, an empty wardrobe, and a mirror by the side of the wall. There was a couch by the bed where I immediately dumbed the bag I had in hand.
"Unpack." I ordered my daughter, "I am going outside for some fresh air."
I needed to take a survey around the pack house. After all, I was here for revenge, and I needed to know my enemies.
The cold air hit my face as soon as I stepped my feet outside the palace, in the premises of the pack house. By this time, it was already pretty dark outside, but I could manage to see from the illumination provided by the lightbulbs in the premises.
I was strolling blissfully when I heard footsteps behind me. I quickly turned around to see Jeremy standing there. His tall frame was enough to recognize him even in the dark.
"If it isn't, the much talked about fetish." He said mischievously and approached me.
My heart began to thud violently against my chest as I stood facing him, I could not help but wonder if he had recognized me earlier. His brother didn't, so he most likely wouldn't
I maintained a straight face and tried to get rid of the fire burning in my insides as I faced him.
"You must be the brother." I said, trying to sound normal.
He smiled dryly. With the reflection of the light, I could see his face faintly, but it was unreadable.
"Yes, I am the brother. Long time no see, Mira." He voiced out, and my breath hitched.
He did recognize me.
I cleared my throat and tried to say something, to maybe, convince him that he was mistaking, but nothing was forthcoming.
"Don't worry," he drawled. "I am going to keep your little secret, but you are also going to do something for me in return."
I wanted to say something else, to shun him off, but when I opened my mouth, the only thing I was able to let out was a gasp.
"You are going to give in to it, to the desire." He said with a smirk on his face.
"What... What are you talking about?" I asked him, and he shook his head.
"You feel it too, don't you?" He asked.
I took a step backwards and swallowed hard. My heart beat repeatedly till it almost became painful to breathe.
"Feel what?" I asked as fiercely as I could, while holding onto his gaze and making sure my eyes were unwavering.
"The mate bond, Mira, don't you feel it?"
Hearing his words further broke my resolve, and I took a step back till my back hit the wall. He took one step forward and another till he was standing directly in front of me.
His eyes swept through my entire frame lustfully like he was trying to undress me with his words.
Slowly, he lifted his hand and ran the back of his palm over my face, causing a tingle in my intimates.
"You've grown even more beautiful than you looked five years ago, Mira, just like the kind of woman I would like on my bed."
My stomach clenched with his last words, especially as his breath tickled my face.
"Succumb to the mate bond and be my Luna."
CHAPTER SIXMIRAMy heart sank when Jeremy offered that I become his Luna. I was wolfless, so the mate stuff was not real."I... I can't," I told him plainly. "I already have..." I paused. I didn't want to reveal too much to them yet. The only reason I came here was to wipe the entire pack. I had no business whatsoever with being anyone mate or whatever. "Jeremy. I can not accept the mate bond. I am wolfless, and I feel nothing." Jeremy smirked as he got even closer. I could hear my heart pounding more terribly this time. I tried to control the pace I was breathing since it was giving out too much, but I could not. I was out of control of that. "You and I know very well that you're trying to lie to me. But it wouldn't work. You can lie to me but not yourself. Yes, you lost your wolf, but then..." "Jeremy!" I cut in sharply before he would finish what he had to say. He leaned away from me and sighed deeply. I also exhaled deeply, thinking that he was finally letting me go. He fac
CHAPTER SEVENALPHA LESLEY I could hear the commotion from outside. I already knew that the fetish woman had arrived. I walked towards my window and peeped to see her alighting from the car. My heart melted at the sight of her shoe as she stuck her right leg out of the car after the driver opened the door for her to go in. She walked out of the car, and her eyes glowed like the morning sun. I gulped down hard on my saliva. Her beauty melted my heart. I turned to my table to grab my phone and call the maid that had been assigned to take care of her on her arrival. Before I grabbed my phone, the maid walked into the scene. I smiled inwardly. I stood by the window watching her with a racing heart. The woman was a beauty to behold, and something kept drawing me towards her. After a while of standing by the window unconsciously, a knock on my door interrupted my thoughts. I walked towards the door and opened it. My messenger was standing outside the door. He bowed in front of me. "The
CHAPTER EIGHT MIRAMy heart throbbed as I hurried into my room. I could not believe what had just happened. I almost kissed Lesley. After everything he did to me, I still let him get that close to me. I was a coward. The first thing I noticed as I rushed into my room was my daughter sleeping peacefully at a side of the huge bed that was prepared for us. I gasped when I noticed another masculine shadow in my room. I was about to scream when he grabbed me and covered my mouth. Thoughts ran through my head. I almost thought it was a serial killer, and I wondered how he got into my room. My eyes slowly drifted back to my daughter, and my heart skipped as I thought of something silly. "Was she even sleeping?" I questioned my heart. As though everything was happening so fast, I felt my back touch the wall. The hands were slowly slipping away from my lips, and I was going to scream once I got the opportunity to. "You're going to wake her up." I heard the familiar voice, and his hands f
CHAPTER NINE JEREMYJeremy was a perfect example of a complete gentleman. He didn't try to push or force things. He let go of me and walked away from the room without saying anything to me. I felt bad for Jeremy. I wanted to call him back or even follow him to his room so we could continue. This was not only because I felt bad for Jeremy. It was also because I wanted it, too. I walked towards my bed and sat there as I wrapped my hands around my body. The tough woman I trained to be for years was gradually becoming weak. I was slowly catching feelings for Jeremy even though I knew that it was wrong. I shouldn't be catching feelings for him because he was a Brown. Not only that, he was also the twin brother of my former mate. How would it balance? I was scared of loving him. What if he was also just trying to get into my pants like his brother did some years ago? What if this was also a bet? Tears dropped down my cheek, and I quickly wiped it off. I was losing control already. I slo
CHAPTER TENALPHA JEREMYAfter seeing Mira, I realised that I never stopped loving her. I never thought I did, but seeing her affirmed everything. I thought I would be able to move on, but it had been years already. I had always loved Mira, and that was why I was so hurt when I realised that she had sex with my brother years back. I knew about the bet back then, but I could not stop it. I didn't want to betray my brothers because of a woman, and I hoped that Mira would not fall for it. It pained me that she was so naive. I thought Lesley was out of the way after what happened. Somehow, it was good that he rejected the mate bond. I was jealous of the fact that she was mated to him, and not me. I knew the cost of him rejecting her, and that was my only pain. Now that she was back, I wasn't supposed to be competing with anyone over her love, but it seemed like I would be doing plenty of that. It seemed like Lesley was in love with her this time. I would not stop reminding her how much
CHAPTER ONE MIRA "How do I look?" "Lucky," Sharon's voice reminded me of where I came from. I was standing in front of the mirror. The mirror hung on a single nail in a corner of a dimly lit, sparsely furnished room. The mirror's surface is cloudy and streaked, reflecting a distorted image of the bare, peeling walls and the worn, creaky floorboards. The frame, once ornate, now hung crooked and faded, its gilded edges chipped and worn away. The mirror seemed to lean wearily against the wall, as if it too had given up on the surroundings. My presence in front of the mirror was supposed to brighten up the place. But, the background still looked as pale as ever. Did I just say pale? I asked myself as I racked my head for the best word to describe it. "Poor," Sharon's voice was heard again. It was as though she read my thoughts. That was the word I was searching for. The exact words. Everything in front of the mirror screamed poverty, including myself. "You shouldn't go into
CHAPTER TWO MIRA Once I was outside, goose bumps began to appear all over my skin. It seemed as though the house had been shedding me from cold all along. I felt cold tringles all over my body, and my whole body suddenly began to vibrate from the cold. I looked down at myself. I had come here to get introduced finally as tye alpha's mate, only to get humiliated and rejected. I wanted to run home quickly so I wouldn't freeze under the cold weather, but I realised that my feet began to freeze first. I neither came out with a bag, nor did I even have money to board a cab. I had trekked all the way here, hoping that alpha Lesley would drop me off after the party. I wrapped my arm around my body and began to walk towards the thick, high gate that guarded the mansion. My whole body was shaking terribly, I could not understand what was going on. "Mira," I heard a familiar voice sing my name. I turned around to see Alpha Lesley's younger brother standing there. CHAPTER THREE MIRA I could feel my body moving. All I saw was the cloudy sky above my head. It seemed like it was falling on me. I suddenly opened my eyes, and all I could see now was darkness. I was still moving. I realised that someone was carrying me when I felt his broad shoulders. I leaned towards him and buried my head on his chest as hot tears began to flow freely down my eyes. I could feel my lips shaking as the tears I had pilled up since thus whole drama started began to flood my eyes. My eyes were hurting from how hot the tears were. Soon, the body stopped moving and dropped me to the floor. I could see now. It was a little bit dark out there, but I could see slightly. I felt completely empty. Of course, my wolf, Shilo, was gone. I still could not believe it. I began to sob again. Jeremy pulled me close and hugged me tightly. He had saved me and carried me out of the hall. "I am so sorry you had to go through all of that in the hands of my brother." I sniffled

CHAPTER FOUR ALPHA LESLEY (Five years later). My claw digged deep into the wooden table in my office. I scratched the table as I walked forward, leaving lines of my four clwas on the table. The screeching sound from the table wasn't pleasant to my ears. I gritted my teeth as much as I could to release the anger I felt in my system. "Alpha Lesley, you have to calm down. " I turned to Ramon angrily. How could he easily say I should calm down? The pack was under attack, and everything was going bizarre, and he expected me to calm down? "They attacked again yesterday," I spoke with rage. "They took our women and men again! They took children!" "We have one of them. Let's make him spill their hideout." I hissed loudly. "We have totured him enough, and he's not speaking. I wonder why Alpha Martin wants us to still keep him alive." Ramon was quiet for a while. He was the pack's only surviving beta over the years. He was closer to me than the rest of my brothers. Jeremy sho
