Chapter 20: ‘Cain, are you okay?’

*ASA TRINE*

“Luna?” I called out as soon as we reached the Alpha’s residence. She had been curled like a ball on the sofa in the living room, drinking a glass of wine while looking as if she had cried tears all night.

“What’s wrong, Mom?” Cain asked, alarmed to see his mother in a state such as this. She was a composed and strong lady therefore seeing her in this condition didn’t settle well with me as well.

Looking at the both of us she wiped her face for any remaining tears with the sleeves of her beige night gown that she had been wearing and sitting the glass back down on the coffee table, she croaked out a smile as she said, “Is Clay alright?”

Her question angered me slightly and the brows that had been furrowed before in her worry were now stretched up high at the indecency of the question, that she had been asking her child who had just been hurt by the other one, an hour ago.

Shouldn’t she ask how Cain was doing?

“He is alright, Mom,” Cain replied back normally, no traces
