*ASA TRINE* “Luna?” I called out as soon as we reached the Alpha’s residence. She had been curled like a ball on the sofa in the living room, drinking a glass of wine while looking as if she had cried tears all night. “What’s wrong, Mom?” Cain asked, alarmed to see his mother in a state such as this. She was a composed and strong lady therefore seeing her in this condition didn’t settle well with me as well. Looking at the both of us she wiped her face for any remaining tears with the sleeves of her beige night gown that she had been wearing and sitting the glass back down on the coffee table, she croaked out a smile as she said, “Is Clay alright?” Her question angered me slightly and the brows that had been furrowed before in her worry were now stretched up high at the indecency of the question, that she had been asking her child who had just been hurt by the other one, an hour ago. Shouldn’t she ask how Cain was doing? “He is alright, Mom,” Cain replied back normally, no traces
*ASA TRINE* The sun was up and shining bright this morning. It was one of those days when you would want to wake up and just enjoy the cheerfulness that the nature spread around you. You could see passing smiles on almost everybody’s face as they went about their daily work. But it had taken me some time to realize that it wasn’t because of the day that had plastered such smile on their faces, it was because of the new rumor and drama that had enfolded yesterday night about Clay and Sofia that was causing it. It was sadistic to like this so much but I really wanted Clay to get to know how it felt being at the receiving end of the vicious judgements. I wanted to see him frowning and hiding from the gazes of the people that were laughing at him, that would keep on following him like a terrible shadow. I wanted him to hear the deliberate whispers of spite and humor that people were spreading about him. I wanted to see his head hang down in shame but- “Seeing you like this I really did
*CAIN ARIUS* “You just wait and watch, I will become the Alpha of this pack soon,” Clay brooded as he glared at Asa who in turn stood her place and huffing accepted the challenge, “We’ll see.” There was a spark between the two, a crackle of animosity and for some reason even this slight connection of theirs still bothered me. Curbing the urge to act on the scenarios in my head that were ranging from strangling my brother, to putting him up against the wall by his neck, I clenched my fist tightly together and waited for him to leave. Mom would cry again if she heard the two of us fought. Sighing I saw them still fixatedly glaring and I despised the way Clay looked at her. Whether it was eyes full of love or hate if they stayed longer than necessary on my mate then I couldn’t help but feel threatened by it. As if noticing the change in atmosphere, Clay’s eyes flicked towards me ever so slightly and then with a grunt of exasperation he marched out from Dad’s office as we followed out
*ASA TRINE* “That’s your theory?” The Alpha asked glancing between the two of us where we had been sitting in front of his desk in his office. It had only been a day since he had informed us about the problem and I had spent major part of my evening yesterday brainstorming different ideas and solutions with Cain. “Yes, I had been monitoring the two issues from before as well and they seemed to have started somewhere near the same time,” Cain revealed to his father and I noticed the Alpha’s expression slightly changed to one of admiration as he gazed down at his son. “Did you talk to your brother about it as well?” Luna, who had been standing by Alpha’s chair asked, looking at her son expectantly. Her words slightly shocked me as I looked at her in astonishment. She must have noticed me gawking at her because clarifying she said, “Oh, Cain has always been smarter at these things and he always helps his brother out since they were young.” There was a pretty and proud smile on her
*ASA TRINE* “I can’t believe she passed out!” Leia laughed, her shoulders wracking with an uncontained laughter almost making her fall off the bar stool by the kitchen counter. Michael who had been hiding his face away, by planting it flat against the counter and shielding it with an arm, slowly raised his head and looking at me he said, “I am really sorry about what happened earlier.” “And did you say he turned paper white?” Leia asked again before I could reply to Michael and with a smug smile Cain boasted, “I thought he was going to have a heart attack.” Glaring at him, I smacked his arm to stop him from sounding so happy when in reality I couldn’t deny that the situation before had provided me a similar happiness like the two. Still, it was rude to Michael when it was his parents we were talking about and so I pursed my lips to stop the smile from spreading on my face. “I am sorry Michael; Cain didn’t deliberately want to scare them or anything-” “No, I did mean t-” “Shut u
*ASA TRINE* “Did you want me to seduce you?” I said folding my hands in front of me as I stared at the barely their material of the lace negligee that I found hanging in the closet of my new home. We had got back after dinner with Leia and Michael just five minutes ago and before touring the house I had first decided to change into some comfortable clothes when I found this desirous underwear in my new and empty closet. I had reckoned it to be a gift from Cain and had put it on for him at once, slightly curious about how it would feel to wear something like this. ‘He has a really daring taste,’ Xara muttered in my head snickering at the way our nipples poked through the mesh like structure. The intricate lace material that wrapped around the mound of my breasts was so light and soft to the touch that it almost felt like I hadn’t been wearing anything. It had a deep cut in the front to show off my cleavage and the material then cinched under my bust to give it some definition after
*ASA TRINE* “So did you like your new home?” Leia asked and turning to look at her I am met with a grimace as she continues to speak, “What’s up with this new look? Are dark circles in trend?” There was a short laugh that followed her words but I could see curiosity and concern in her green eyes. Giving her a drawling smile slightly irritated and slightly happy to see her so bright in the morning I picked up the list of items I had just jotted down for the ceremony and handing it to her I said, “I have made that list you asked me to.” Plucking it out of my hand she glanced through it once and I waited to get her assurance of successfully completing the first pack work I had received. “I think we should increase the quantity of food but apart from that this seems perfect,” she said smiling down at me and despite the tiredness I felt myself beam at her compliment. To be complimented by your highly admired and famous sister was a different type of joy and pride. I was about to take t
*Cain Arius* It hurt me seeing her this tired, she had not slept properly last night and when she slipped out of bed this morning she had been in a hurry as well. She wasn’t taking good care of herself and I wanted to twist Clay’s neck for having instigating her to act in such a manner. But why was she running away from me? “I-I am s-sorry, Sir. It is my fault! I shouldn’t have brought such a piece that wasn’t to your liking, p-please give me another chance to present another,” the man, stood in front of me shouted out a slur of words in a panicked aggression making me snap my gaze away from my mate and back to him. He was the vendor that was going to bring us silver polished candle holders for the ceremony and one of his designs was mangled and bent in my hand now. Fuck! I forgot I had to choose one of these samples. “I promise that I won’t disappoint you this time!” he continued to beg mercy for himself as he stared at the shiny metal in my hand disfigured and useless now. His s
