“Asa!” I heard someone shout out my name and lethargically pulled myself up into a standing position from where I was crouched on the side of the road, I saw Cain’s head peaking out the window of the car that he had been driving all morning.

“What happened to you?” he asked getting down after he slammed the door of the car and came running towards me helping me up into his arms so I could lean against his chest.

By now the darkness had already started sweeping the roads but the little that was left was enough to show him a smile as I said, “I did it, Cain. Our pack is safe.”

The news was received by him with an aggravated worry and suppressed anger that came bursting through him as he said, “how could you risk your life like that?”

That much was certainly not enough of a scolding on his part but realizing that I had already been too spent to even pay attention to him at this moment he first brought me back to the passenger seat of his car and gave me a sip from the bottle
