Chapter Two
ALESSIA'S POV All my teenage life, I'd prayed the goddess matched me with Thompson, when that didn't happen, our fathers took the initiative to wed us. Making my dreams of spending the rest of my life with Thompson come true. But it all turned into a nightmare. "Congratulations, Alpha Crestwood!" Thompson shook hands with the white haired Alpha before us while I hugged his Luna with a radiant smile on my face. Thompson led me into the vast and exquisitely decorated hall. His face suggests I must've done something wrong. What now? "Could you fuckin' stop smiling?" He growled beside me. "You look like a freak." The smiles dissolved. Upsetting him was the least we wanted, not before the gazes of all the important people in the room. He took out two champagne flutes from the tray a steward carried around, handed me one with a brittle smile. I knew the rules. I was never to drink at any of these functions, not to mingle, neither was it lawful for me to wander off his side. But this plaguing sandalwood was growing hard to ignore. There were more than a handful of men in the room all in sleekly tailored suits and polite smiles on their faces which made it hard to tell which of them exactly was I gravitating to. Thompson went around the hall socializing with a few familiar faces, Beta Ferguson from the southeast Pack was his all time friend and he certainly would be the only one we'd spend most time with this evening. "Is he here, yet?" "The High King?" Beta Ferguson slipped a crooked smile, "He's in the VIP but I had the golden opportunity of a lifetime for a handshake." "You're a very lucky man!" Even though Thompson's words were driven by sarcasm, I knew he meant every single word he just said. The high king was the man my husband worshiped even more than the moon goddess. I was invisible in the room, everyone ignored my presence in the room and Thompson never ceased to remind me Annalise was his perfect match. The High King's second in command of the Kingdom unexpectedly left the VIP section of the hall, this knocked off Thompson's senses and he left my side, edging closer to hear the King's second in command’s speech. This few minutes of freedom had me downing the champagne in my hand and going for the next one. When he didn't return, I emptied the second drink and held the third. I left the corner of the hall and slipped through the back exit towards the balcony for a whiff of fresh air. A moment to feel alive and real. The night sky looked beautiful with stars and a moon which appeared more blue like the tattoo etched on my back. I took a sip of the champagne in my hand and smiled at how wonderful it felt to be away from Thompson. He certainly would punish me later for wandering off and drinking but, this moment was worth it all. Someone's presence on the balcony had me swiveling around to meet the towering silhouette figure by the door. Thompson had found me. "I'm sorry, I just came outside for some fresh air." I spluttered honestly. But when the sandalwood filled my nostrils, I realized this man wasn't Thompson. He moved away from the lights into the dark balcony standing a few inches from me. Who the hell? I gulped. Blinked. Blanked. Watching him close the gap between us. I made no mistake this man before me was the High King of the kingdom. His dirty brown hair slicked back, sensuous lips curious, peered at me as though searching my soul. "I,I–uh…" Unsure of what to say, I chose silence with my gaze pinned on him. I trembled visibly before him as I perceptibly fought the budding heat, his cold calculating gaze rendered on me. He touched my arm in a move that surprised me, a move that fired gasp from my lungs. He instantly retrieved his hand as though he'd just come in contact with hot coal. He felt it. The electrifying effects our contact generated. The huge shadow man muttered a curse, his harshly attractive face hardening dangerously. He reached for my arm again, whirling me around so my face was pinned to the screen wall, his hand worked on my zipper. What the hell was he doing? I tried to fight him off but the bliss his touches feathered down my skin, the heat pooling and plaguing my inner thighs, transfixed my quivering body to the screen wall. The glass in my grip shattered to the floor as my zipper went down and his breath ghosted on my bare back. A moan escaped my lips. I couldn't remember the last time I was touched this way. Thompson had ignored me as though I wasn't a woman with needs. Thompson! My husband! Senses slammed into me, but only because this man zipped my dress back and stepped away from me. Shame was like a manacle around my neck. Disappointment brazed my heart. "Never touch me that way ever again I am another man's wife!" I tried to sound firm but my faltering tone immensely betrayed me. Things would've been easier if he just nodded, probably apologized and turned back out of the balcony but he didn't. Instead, he chose to close the gap again. This time, his hand gently grabbed my windpipe, holding me as softly as possible as though not to hurt me, he pulled me closer, way closer to himself, which made wrapping my arms around him and kissing him like there was no tomorrow really hard to resist. But there was a tomorrow. A son waiting for me to return and a husband probably searching for me in the dimly lit hall. I couldn't act so shamelessly. "You are wrong." He hoisted me effortlessly from the floor trapping me to the wall. My legs wrapped around him, 'for support', "Fuck whatever you are," He muttered darkly, "You are my mate! A mate I've waited all my life for!" The door went open and I instantly sprang to my feet. My senses snapped back. What the hell just happened?Chapter ThreeLYCAN CYRIL'S POV"Not now, Alan." I didn't need to look back at the door to know it was Alan West, my executive assistant. There was a moment of silence before the door went closed leaving me the privacy I needed with this redhead before me. Her scent had intoxicated my being all through the night, I’d laid low from where I sat in the VIP, predatory gaze trained her way, waiting for this excellent opportunity to spring up. My eyes roamed her beautiful face, a distinct shade of red. "Don't touch me!" She scowled, slapping off my hand when I tried to cradle her face. I understood her devotion to her husband, the imposing blond who had pranced the hall with a huge grin tugging his face. But the need to make her mine was just too overwhelming to ignore. "What is your name?" I mumbled, lust clipped to every word I spoke. The need to touch her all over again became irresistible. "No, I'm married." She shook her head as though trying to wake from all of this. Yet, this
Chapter fourALESSIA'S POV"The High King wants us in his territory." Thompson sounded as though he just won the lottery. My heart leapt out of my mouth. "Mom!" Adrian jumped from his seat with his shirt damped with the orange juice I subconsciously spilled on him from the glass I was pouring his juice into. I was too ashen, too shaken to understand what exactly Thompson meant by 'us'. "I'll clean up and get you another shirt." I stammered, practically scurrying off the kitchen and didn't stop until I was safe behind my bedroom closed door. This couldn't be. It had been three days now since the party. I thought the Lycan King had finally received some senses and chose to let me be. But it seems I was wrong, he had sworn to make me his. It was terrifying, the lust in his gaze terrified and haunted my sleeps. The words he'd spoken that night were on constant replay in my head, they had the worst effect on me. Oh Goddess save me!I had heard of and judged adulterous women. Now, I w
Chapter 5 Alessia's pov “Get your thunder thighs moving already.’’ Thompson hushed, irritated by my stillness. “What have you done!’’ I cussed at him. The thoughts of facing the Lycan king again lunged my heart, especially at the sudden occurrence. I was not prepared for this. “You really believe I'll let this opportunity of getting in touch with the Lycan king slide off just because you feel uncomfortable with it?’’ The deep pang of disbelief in his voice made me realise how foolish it was of me to actually think he'd decline the Lycan king's request for me. It hurts. It hurts that he didn't care about my opinions at all. But that wasn't just the case right now. “Then you should have taken Annalise with you instead. Or my opinion still doesn't matter even if its also what she wants?’’ I yelled, mist prickling my eyes. Thompson strided stiffly to stand before me, peering into my eyes with such cold gaze that left me unsurprised at the coldness of his voice following. “This
Chapter 6Lycan Cyril’s povSilence befall the haze as the weight of my command sank in. Her beautiful eyes bulged with something like fear as she regarded Thompson who equally couldn't seem to place my demand. It wasn't proper. I shouldn't have passed such order. How couldn't I control myself when it came to her? Staring at her all through breakfast was enough to stir up suspicions from anyone already. “Uh.. You mean we can….’’ “Forget it. I didn't mean it that way.’’ I dismissed immediately. Thankfully, Thomson didn't take it that I was referring to Alessia alone.Alessia looked away disappointedly, and I made a conviction to control my stare from now on. Clearly, she didn't want Thompson to find out about our connection. At least not yet. And as much as it stings badly, I have to keep up with it. “I feel really honoured to have been recognised by you. Tell me whatever it is you need me to do, and I promise to carry it out with immediate effect and to the best of your satisfacti
Chapter 7Alessia's povMy heart skipped at Thompson's approaching footsteps, and I stood up at once. He stepped in, dropping the phone from his ear after about an hour of talking with Annalise outside.I knew what to expect of his mean gaze. I messed up. That was the thought in his head. ‘‘Just what exactly is your problem?’’ He had it stuffed up in him, his annoyance. “You don't think I also deserve an apology for bringing me here without my consent?’’ I shot back calmly. “Was your consent necessary?” He scoffed. “I did what was needed to get things done and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.’’ The way he usually spoke. The manner he always used with me. It hurts so bad that I loved this man despite his mistreatment towards me. I have only ever loved him but he completely despised me. “Where did I ever wrong you, Thompson? I've done everything possible to prove my love for you but why won't you ever regard my efforts?’’ My voice broke, almost croaking out my words. ‘‘
Chapter 8Lycan Cyril povShe was the least person I expected to see here. Her red hair was one I could recognise even in my sleep, and as she turned around, it was confirmed. She turned white instantly. The feeling was mutual. She equally didn't expect me here. I watched her frozen gaze trace my hair with the water droplets streaming down my exposed chest. I had just showered after a swim. I was in an army designed shorts that barely covered my thighs in fact. I couldn't take my eyes off her either, she looked totally hot in the deep blue swimsuit that effortlessly boasted her V. It took me the whole year of my training to hold back Finn's nonstop growls that ogled her. She was helpless. Her helplessness kept leaving me doubts about her disabled wolf. If she couldn't feel the mate pull as much as I did, then why was she always this helpless at my mercy? She staggered a few steps backwards, her throat throbbing as her eyes wandered over me.I raked my fingers into my hair in an a
Chapter 9Alessia's pov “I'm really sorry my lady. I didn't mean to barge in.’’ Melanie apologised for the upteempth time. Didn't she get it? I was most grateful for her barge in. I dreaded imagining what would have happened if she hadn't stepped in. “I need only one thing from you, Melanie.’’ I voiced, hoping my eyes did the pleading enough. She lifted her face to meet my gaze, her palms tucked anxiously in front of her. “Not a word of this should get out. What you saw back there was a silly misunderstanding.’’ I pleaded. Thompson must not hear of it, not even a fleeting rumor.‘‘I promise.’’ Melanie didn't hesitate to say. I understood her fright. Their almighty Lycan king was involved, so her fear was justified. “Leave. Find my husband, tell him I need to see him.’’ I instructed, watching her leave before going for my phone on the nightstand. I dialed the home line, muttering prayers in my heart that Adrian picks it up. The line connected. ‘‘Adrian?’’“Mom Alessia!’’ Liah
Chapter 10Alessia's povHad he been eavesdropping? As much as I'd have loved to bash and debase him for eavesdropping, shame didn't permit a move from me. I raced as fast as my legs could take me into the bedroom for refuge. I didn't do it often. But when I did, it took hours of nonstop tears before I felt relieved.I took a long bath, passed on lunch and retired into a deep slumber. I woke up to a shadow figure sitting at the edge of the bed, and I almost jumped out of my body. “You're up.’’ His familiar voice made me recognise him immediately. Thompson? I was confused. What was he doing here, addressing me in such a soft tone? Groggily, I pulled the duvet over my frame whilst anticipating whatever he had to say. “You're going back to sleep?’’ Thompson mistook my action. ‘‘Do you have something to say to me?’’ My voice was barely above whispers, an effect of my rebounding system. “Pack up. We're leaving tomorrow.” My ears definitely mistook him. He didn't just say that. “L
Chapter 53Thompson's povMy blood boiled. My veins flamed with smokes, burning my insides. I badly want to shove a claw into the Lycan's idiotic face. It didn't faze me so much to hear Alessia address him by his first name. So many times she had attempted it in my presence. I wasn't so shocked. I knew something like this was on between them. I only tried to believe it was Alessia throwing herself on the Lycan. Call it selfish or whatever, I couldn't afford to bear a grudge towards the Lycan king considering the great advantages I earned from him. If he had remained quiet and just let me take Alessia away, we'd have been fine. Everything would have been okay even though I saw him kiss her back with so much enthusiasm. And it wasn't too late either. He could stop the fuss and not test my patience any further. But Alessia was definitely dying tonight. “Ain't you curious, Thompson?’’ He creased a brow, tilting his head as if to get a clearer access to read me. Why did my heart drea
Chapter 52CYRIL’S POVShe froze. Staring at me like she had just encountered a night ghost. The cold night wind brushed a few strands of hair on her face continously. “Why do you look like you've seen a ghost?’’ I creased a brow, tilting my head to watch her more intensely. “Cause I've probably just seen one.’’ She spoke, breathing out, and folding her arms. Her face changed to a serious expression. “You should be in bed now.’’ I stepped forward, but she stepped back, causing me to stop. I guess my gaze were questioning enough. “Why are you talking to me now, have I been invisible to you all these while?’’ She proffered rather defiantly. “Just ignore me like you have been doing all day.’’“Alessia,’’ I called calmly after a moment of silence, but she bursted. “Come to think of it, we're not even anything. Haven't I been so cheap, giving myself to you so many times out of my stupidity? Let's just end it here. Stop what you're doing and I'll be fine with time.’’ She paused to ta
Chapter 51Alessia's pov “Where are you coming from?’’ Thompson demanded before I even shut the door after myself. I stood before the door, my heart confiscating a bit as my rehearsed lie rolled on my tongue. “I asked a question.’’ He fumed, his eyes gleaming with anger and resentment almost made me flop.“I slept out.’’ I swallowed, almost choking on my words. ”Out where?’’ Thompson advanced. “Didn't you need space? I gave you the space you desired.’’ I fired, my back hitting the door as I tried to stylishly step out. I forgot I'd shut the door after coming in earlier. Thompson grabbed my neck in a strong grip, causing my breath to cease in my nose pipes. “Where did you spend the night? Don't you dare lie to me.’’ His breath burnt against my skin. “There are a thousand other bedrooms in this mansion. I could choose to sleep in any if them like you did the first time we visited here.’’ I used his very own actions against him. My killer counter-attack point. His fingers tighte
Chapter 50Cyril’s POVI couldn't resist the heat of her presence, especially behind these confinement. No one, not even Thompson, could be allowed access to this floor. The only reason Alessia was allowed in here was the general knowledge in the mansion that she was my mate. There were CCTV cameras at the entrance passage and the elevator which of course was under the supervision of security bodies. She would have gotten stuck in the elevator until they came to get her out. I watched surprise and disbelief cross her alluring facial features, her lips perking up like she was going to say something but didn't know what. It'd been a grave burden forcing myself to ignore her. But if I had to get her in the next one month as planned, I needed to stick to the rules of the game plan. I knew it'd affect her. I saw the pain in her eyes every time I treated her like a lint in Thompson's presence. The goal was to make her realise how much she truly craved my attention, my admiration, and my
Chapter 49Alessia's pov“Is there a problem, Mrs Weverse?’’ Alan stopped a few steps away. “Is this some kind of joke now?’’ I glared, detesting the way he laid emphasis on Thompson's last name on me. ‘‘How do you mean, Mrs…’’“Don't.’’ I cut in. “I do that know what you're talking about, please come with me.’’ I could swear I saw him roll his eyes. “I know my way around here, obviously. So there's no point of you following me around.’’ I stopped him before he took another step. “I'll take this as your dismissal then.’’ He squinted shortly and walked away. Sighing exhaustedly, I entered the room to see two maids already fixing my wnd Thompson's stuff in. “Melanie!’’ My face brightened as I recognised her as the first maid. “Welcome back, my lady.’’ She lowered her head. “We're organizing the place, please be a little patient. We'll be done in less than ten minutes.’’ Her manner of politeness was nothing short of awkward. Yes, she was usually polite but not in a distanced ma
Chapter 48Alessia's pov.I didn't wait five more minutes at the beach. I packed up our snacks and folded the mat. Neither Adrian nor Liah tried to oppose my action and quietly followed my lead. They ruined everything in the first place after all. I drove back home and went straight into the shower. I thought I had gotten over Cyril, why the hell did I go numb in his arms?Pulling my towel to wrap myself, I stepped out of the bathroom dripping wet to meet Thompson on my bed. He stared for a while, his gaze sweeping down to my feets before coming back to linger on my thighs.“How was your hang out at the beach?” He asked. Not like he really cared to know.“Didn't you leave for the office this morning?’’ I asked back, a little surprised to see him. A chuckle left his lips, one I thought seemed rather weird. “There's really much you don't know about.’’ He remarked. His comment cut like a sharp slice against my chest. Quietly, I strode to my closet to get some clothing. I was at it w
Chapter 47Alessia's pov“You both stay here, I'll be back in a jiffy.’’ I patted the kids' heads and they nodded like the obedient pubs they were. I rushed to get us ice creams from the beachside itinerant trader. There was a small crowd of buyers, so I had to wait a bit until it was my turn. I got three portions for myself and the kids and returned to our spot, only to meet the picnic mat empty. My heart flew off immediately, my gaze darting to the sea. By any chance, did they go into the water?I couldn't get a glimpse of them from the number of people playing at the beach bank. There was no way they could have gone into the water, not after my strict warnings in the car. I dropped the plates of ice cream and began waltzing, asking anyone around if they found the two kids on the mat earlier. My heart exploded dynamite against my chest at every negative reply I got. “Over there, they left with their dad.’’ A young couple I asked pointed towards a beach house not down the beach..
Chapter 46Thompson's pov“So you mean I can't attend with you even though it's happening here in the house?’’ Annalise pushed.“You can't, Anna.’’ I snapped, fed up of talking about it already. She kept insisting on going with me to the meeting in place of Alessia. “So make me your Luna. Get rid of her and make me your Luna, Thompson.’’ She yelled, sending a sigh off my lips. We've been over this since yesterday. I don't know what knot missed in her head but for some reason she thought she could be Luna.“You know nothing.’’ I sniggered, fixing my watch. “What do you mean ‘I know nothing’? You think I'm not worthy of the Luna title.’’ She twisted. “Hey.’’ I turned from the mirror to face her. “Don't get me twisted. I'm saying, you can't handle the stress that comes with it. I don't want you to.’’ I quickly added. She let out an unbelievable scoff. ‘‘Let's get this topic over with. I've told you…’’ “You don't want to divorce her, right? Now I'm hating Alessia even more. I swea
Chapter 45Thompson's povShe seemed stunned at first, then without any protests, she began stripping until she was starck naked. I felt my urge build harder at the sight, my length pushing against my pants. “Come here.’’ I demanded. “The kids are home today, we can't have the door unlocked.’’ She seeked and turned to lock the door, her ass bouncing effortlessly. “Get on your knees.’’ I loosened my belt, letting my firm choad out to her face. She swallowed it up immediately, working her small lips around my size. I couldn't hold back the grunt that escaped my throat. I hardened my muscles in a bid to stop myself from grabbing her hair. Why was she being so submissive now? She was driving me crazy. After putting in a deep thought, I realised Alessia was probably going to make a protest last night but I hadn't given her the chance to. I was out to confirm my observations, but she was pulling a whole different attitude yet again today. I had almost lost it when Annalise kept scre
