The party was in full swing by the time Marcus and I arrive, more than a couple of shots down. Seemed my friend was not about to let me leave the house having had only one. He was out to ensure I had a good night, and for that I was not going to complain.

The moment we arrived to the party we were swamped with well-wishers. Most of whom I had already seen today at my birthday breakfast, or in and around pack, but I was gracious as always. They were, after all, members of the pack I had grown up in, and members of the pack I would be assisting in running once they allowed me to begin my Beta training now I had my wolf. The next stage in my life. One that I had to say I was excited about. Following in my Dad's footsteps. Earning the title he had passed on to me. One my Mum had tried hard to bring me up honourably to earn.

Once Marcus and I had managed to ease ourselves away from the majority of the crowd, we noticed three women approaching. All three with affectionate smiles upon their

I made my way around the party, just as my Mum asked, ensuring the food tables were stocked up, and the drink tables too. Vry much being used like staff today, to ensure the party went as smoothly as it could. Heaven forbid that Lachlan did not have the most wonderful party that ever existed. It was on one of those run arounds that I noticed the king of the hour. Beta Blockhead himself. Some slutty-she-wolf draped all over him...No surprise really, we had quite a few she-wolves in pack more than willing to do that to get ahead. My brother had been known to take advantage of his title in that way, as disappointed in him as that makes me to admit it. And, I believe, our very own Alpha, Marcus, had done the same too, until he had met his mate. I think it is just a very shameful part of being a senior role within pack. The lure of the senior title in the pack was appealing to a certain type of she-wolf, and they found themselves flinging themselves upon said wolves at every given opport

Seren’s attitude with me had ruined my mood, and any chance I had with Cara… or Zara… or whatever her name was. So, I had gone back to joining my friends, disregarding my initial plans of spending my birthday evening finding she-wolves to keep me occupied and rid my mind of thoughts of the filthy, repulsive she-wolf that fate had given me for a mate. The night had not gone the way I had hoped. But, my friends were always good company. Especially when we had a few drinks down us.The party was, as parties go, not a bad one. Plenty of laughter, and fun, as to be expected from a pack celebration where there was an ongoing supply of food and alcohol. Music playing until the early hours. Everything a person could want for a party. Yet, I headed home at the end of my party feeling deflated. Like my coming of age had been nothing but a disappointment. Nothing like I had expected.Tyr had slipped to the nether regions of my mind early in the evening, in one hell of a mood with me, likely bec

Already a week into being of age, and I had to say it sucked. I had waited eighteen damn years for this period of my life, and as it turned out, it was nothing but a big, fat disappointment. My wolf had decided he was hibernating. Or, as the case was more likely to be, ignoring me like the ignorant little shit it appeared he was. My wolf was everything I did not want in a wolf. In truth, I had hoped for a wolf that I would gain another friend in, instead it appeared I had gained an enemy. A mortal enemy with the way things were going.I was now having to dodge my friends in their requests to go for a run, both Cole and Marcus desperate to meet my wolf. Neither one having been able to on my birthday, so trying each day since to arrange a chance to train together in our wolf form or run together. There was only one issue with that, the little fucker did not want to come out to play. My wolf was being as awkward as he could be.I liked to keep myself fit, and exercise was an important pa

I stood watching Seren walk away. Her long dark hair swinging as she walked. She was in a hurry to get away from me, that was evident to see. A part of me wanted to go after her, but I stayed, almost fixed to the spot, as she strode further away. While listening to my wolf snarling angrily at me. My gut twisting, along with my heart. I knew the pain she was in. I knew the struggle of losing your father…FLASHBACK – 8 years ago.I played happily with Cole. Climbing the large tree in the garden of their home. The sun was shining and we loved to make the most of the sunshine. Any opportunity to be outside. Climbing trees was one of our favorite things to do, and the one sitting in the Bradshaw's garden was one of the many trees we had fallen from countless times before. The slightly smaller one alongside it was the tree where the treehouse sat. I believed we had fallen from that a few times too. We made a habit of falling. Always so clumsy. Too busy having fun...Thankfully, Aunt Sofia

Today had been a day I had been dreading. But as sure as the sun was to rise, it had arrived. A day that filled me with pain. A day that left me contemplating so much. Reliving memories. My eyes filled with tears. Losing someone you love is the worst imagineable loss, but when that someone is someone you depend upon… turn to… look up to… he had been my everything. Is that not what a Dad was meant to be to his little girl? I had never expected to lose him whilst I was so young. Though, I don’t suppose many people expect to lose the ones they love… and, no matter how hard I tried, I did not know how to make that loss any easier.Three years this year since he had left us. Three years since I had heard his voice. Three years since he had lovingly wrapped his arms around my Mum's waist as she made him his morning coffee, making her giggle, despite their many years together as mates. 1095 days feeling lost without my Dad by my side to turn to for

That smug look lingered across Lachlan's dark features as his smirk widened. His dark eyes never leaving me for a second as he watched me move along the corridor. “Alright, Ren.” He nodded at me, before raising his coffee mug to me.Without further acknowledgement of him, I quickly continued striding along the corridor, before my anger well and truly bubbled out of control. I did not know what he was doing here, and I did not need him here. Marching into the kitchen to find my brother tossing one of the pancakes as I did, he looked up at me with a welcoming smile. The lightness in his face only to be brought down by me as I snapped. “What is he doing here?”Cole’s eyes rolled upward, like he was sick of my words. It was something I had asked him multiple times before. I hated the sight of Lachlan making himself comfortable within our family home, especially when he had his arrogant head on. Unfortunately, as a close family friend, he made

I was doing all I could to avoid my fated mate. The sight of her infuriated me. The sound of her voice made me angry. I could not be near her without fury bubbling through my veins; and that was a dangerous situation to be in. Not to mention difficult, because, Tyr had grown angry with me for my outburst at Seren, and how could I blame him? The fear within her eyes was one of terror. No matter the hate or resentment I may feel for that girl, she should not fear me. No woman should fear me.I think of my mother, and the very thought of her fearing a man, and the thought infuriates me. No woman should be made to feel like that. So, I decided, that because being around Seren was evidently causing me to lose my temper, I should do all I could to avoid her. Stay away from her, and any place she was likely to be. I needed to find another focus. So, I went all in to the Beta training. This was going to be something I needed to do anyway. Soon enough I was to become the Beta of this fine pack

Colton and I walked into the busy club, having used our fake ID in order to get in. The music was pounding, and both dancefloors were already filling up. We walked side by side making our way to one of the many bars situated within the club, more than read to start our night the right way. My friend gave me a sly smile as a beautiful women gave him the eye, and a stunning smile, as we made our way through the throngs of people. The look of excitement upon his face was a picture! Though she was quite the looker... maybe tonight could be a good night.“We are going to have fun, right?” Colton questioned as we reached the bar, having to queue for a moment, and I smiled. The excitement in his tone matched the excitment upon his face from moments ago. The smile from the passing beauty had clearly been quite the pick-me-up for my friend, and had certainly put a smile upon his face.“I sure hope so.” I looked around. The place was filled with guys our

The pain in my chest was unreal, but I needed to hear no more, and I had no need to say any further words. I walked away without looking back. Lachlan had seen me as a mistake. Fulfilling the destiny of our matebond was little but an error within his mind. No matter how he appeared to enjoy it, he saw it all as a blunder. A fuck up. He had surrendered to the desires he was feeling, and now he regretted it. I had been used. I should have known better. He had already made it clear that he saw our matebond as nothing but an error from the moon goddess herself, and that we would not work. I had been naïve to cling to any hope of anything else. Well, not any more. Now was time for change.I strode away from Lachlan's family home with irritation pulsing through my body, and tears stinging at the back of my eyes. I had truly believed he had changed. How rediculously foolish of me. That ass was not capable of change. But I was. I could change. And I was going to. I was not about

I saw Seren frowning at me. Confusion written all over her delicate features. I mean the fact she was saying there was nothing else to stay for instead of offering herself to me like she had been doing previously implied she had figured out last night was better as a one off, right? We had both allowed ourselves to experience the matebond. The connection it brought us. Yes, that had been fucking mindblowing, of that I can't even lie. I had experienced nothing like that before. And I had a feeling I likely never would again. But, I know the feelings I held toward Seren, the resentment, the hatred, would mean a relationship would simply not work. Not in the real world. Matebond or not. She may be young, but she had to know that right? She hated me too, I was sure of that.“You decided we made a mistake?” I said calmly, hoping she would take this okay. I mean she had been relatively calm so far. She had been amazing last night, and I did not want to spoil that. I wan

I woke with a start, reaching over for Lachlan, hoping to find the warmth of his body next to mine, having thoughts of him flood my sleep. But, as I reached out, my hand was met with emptiness. Coldness. I forced my sleepy eyes open, and was met with an empty bed. I listened carefully, wondering if he was in the bathroom, but there was nothing but silence. My heart fell. He had left me.‘Lachlan?’ I mindlinked.‘What?’ was the short and sharp response I received, making any warmth I had lingerig within me sliver right away.‘I was just wondering where you had gone. I had hoped to wake up with y…’ I began.‘Yeah, well you shouldn’t be hoping anything. You knew we had to be up to see Marcus. Get yourself ready he is already here.’ Lachlan interrupted, and again I was chilled by his coldness. The warm and fun Lachlan of the night before had seemingly gone, and that left a hollowness in my chest. A heaviness in my gut. Something did not sit right with me. But, I knew I did not have long t

I laid there trying so desperately to allow sleep to find me, but it would not. My mind was playing games with me, and simply would not allow me to rest. There had been too many things happen today that I was thinking over. Analyzing. Mmy head was beginning to hurt, and I felt like my mind wanted to self-implode. Instead, I tossed and I turned, hoping that repositioning myself would help. But there was nothing. With every movement I was fully aware of the heat from Lachlan that radiated from beside me, as his breathing had slowed and sleep passed over him.I desperately wanted to wake him. Talk to him. Kiss him once again. Know that all we had done was nothing more than my imagination. Because, as crazy as it seemed, it still felt surreal to me. It did not feel real. It did not feel like Lachlan would want me in that way. But that look within his eyes was forever burned within my soul. I wanted him to look at me that way forever. That was the way a mate should look to their one. The o

Rippling with a new surge of confidence, I wandered from the bed to the bathroom where Lachlan had headed to clean up. Everything we had shared had been so much more than I had expected. Lachlan had been so much more. He had been different. He made me feel wanted. Needed. I liked it. I wanted more.‘That is what a mate does.’ Maia urged me. I was unsure the confidence I felt as I walked across the room, still naked was from the way Lachlan had made me feel, or the boost of confidence provided by my wolf. Either way, I liked feeling this way. If this was what being with Lachlan was like, then I wanted it more often. It was good for me. He had to see that, right?I could hear the water running, and the door was slightly ajar, so I snuck into the bathroom, Lachlan, was standing in front of the mirror, his once naked body now half wrapped in a towel slung heavy on his hips. He looked good, though I think, having seen him naked, I preferred him

Seren’s kisses were turning out to be more than I could ever have expected. They were turning my body into one raging desire. This matebond had a lot to answer for. I don’t think I had ever looked at her this way before… had I? I don’t know. But, I knew that in this moment, and likely ever again, I was looking no where else. My wolf had been right, the affect she was having upon me was like nothing else I had experienced before. With every delicate touch of her fingers along my skin my body shivered with sheer pleasure… the need for her coursing through me. I had unhooked the delicate lace bra she was wearing, uncovering her entire body to me. Allowing me to see all of her. And she was, in short, perfect. I could see the nerves within her eyes as I took within her body, so I made an appreciative moan to let her know how much I liked what I saw. Seren had nothing to be embaressed of, yet she tried to cover herself with her hands, so I moved her

My whole body shuddered under Lachlan’s touch. My core trembling from the affect of the orgasm he had created. His eyes held a deeper, darker glint to them as he studied my face now. “Did that feel good?” he murmured against my cheek, and I nodded, too breathless to answer. Still in complete shock at what we had just done. I had returned to his house because it was easier... and suddenly we were doing this? Yet, as wrong as it felt, I hadn't wanted to stop... it felt right too...Lachlan released a low throaty chuckle, as he allowed his fingers to tease slowly against my folds once again, my body melting under his touch, my entire skin flushed with heat, a stark contrast to the cold surface of the kitchen worktop Lachlan currently had me pressed up against.“You want more?” he questioned, and inexplicably I found myself nodding in agreement. Again, I knew this wrong. Something both of us may live to regret, but I also knew I did not want i

Initially I had wanted an answer. That had been all. An answer to when Seren had felt that way about me, and what had changed. The venom in her voice had bothered me. I knew I had treated her badly over the years, and continued to do so. In my mind, having every reason to do so. But, I wanted to know her reasoning for these feelings. But, the scent of her arousal had hit my senses, and nothing else mattered in that moment. My wolf and I could focus on nothing else. That scent was so overwhelming. I was instantly aroused. It had been some time now since I had been with a woman… and this was the scent of my own fated mate's arousal… arousal because of me. I could not simply walk away. I wanted her it seemed. And logic dissapeared in the moment, desire taking over. All I could see was Seren. The curves of her perfect body... and that scent... that scent was taking over my mind... I loved seeing the shock upon her face as I parted her thighs

I walked into the kitchen, a heaviness in my gut at the realization of what I had just admitted to. I had no clue if Lachlan had known of my silly crush on him earlier in my teens. I had always tried hard to hide it. Lachlan was confident, and cocky as a teen, and I knew he would humiliate me had he known. Not to mention my brother would have been nothing but ashamed of me had he learned of it... But, just now, those words had slipped out without thinking, likely due to my tiredness. And, regardless of any potential backlash, I did not plan to stand and discuss it now, I knew that much. The past was always better staying in the past.I could tell my words had captured Lachlan's attention because the silence was deathly. If I could have had the earth open up and swallow me whole I gladly would have right then. Anything to escape this awkwardness... But, instead, I decided to try to change the subject. “You got any soda?” I questioned, breaking the
