Kar and curl took Pradai to the place where they had their "meetings" . They didn't want to let anyone or better still everyone know about this strange stranger. Although she had proved to be harmless to get them, they thought they needed to know more about her before anyone else. But how would they? When they couldn't even understand each other. So that posed a great challenge for them.
The weather, and temperature, were all weird to Pradai, but she was happy nonetheless that there was atleast day and night.
They kept her in their meeting place which was a hidden and underground cave only known to them. They would come to see her when they are sure they won't be looked for, however, their underground cave wasn't far from the village , but no one will ever get to find out.
It was a beautiful morning, and the young Meivs were there watching over Pradai, as she opened her eyes, she saw Kar and Curl staring at her, just like the first time, and although she had seen that face and eyes before, she was still shocked.
"Do you think she can't talk? Or she just doesn't want to talk?" Curl asked Kar, who was busy thinking… nothing important, obviously.
"Hey… how was your sleep? Slept well?" Kar asked Pradai, she slowly sat right, and shrugged.
"What does that mean?" Curl whispered to Kar.
"I don't know?"
"She gets more and more strange"
"Yes"
"What do we do with her?"
"What do you think?" Kar asked Curl
"Curl knows not"
"You are good for nothing"
"Say no more. Say no more, I won't bring you fresh meat anymore. We will see who can't live without eating meat!"
"I can hunt!"
"Oh, can you?"
"I mean, forget it. Don't stop bringing me fresh meat, okay"
Kar gave Curl a pat on the back. If there was one good thing he gained from Curl, is fresh meat. Curl's father is a great hunter, and they always have fresh meat. Curl hunts too. But the Tribists don't hunt, because they believed they are too great and high to hunt for animals.
They rather hunt beasts and enemies who pose a great threat to their people. But Kar loved meat so he had Curl smuggle portions for him from time to time.
As they finished talking to each other, they faced front to see that the place where Pradai was sitting down, was empty. They looked at each other and exhaled... They did it again.
"Uhhh not again" groaned Kar.
"That thing doesn't stay in one place!"
"Maybe we should break it's legs" suggested Curl.
"Ummm, are we going to continue talking to ourselves?"
They got out of the cave, and there was no sign of Pradai, so Curl bend down and sniffs the grasses… but there was something about it. He couldn't sniff anything out!
"What!, It didn't leave any trace"
"Huh?, You can't be serious"
Kar tried his own tricks. He closed his eyes, slowed down time and the beating of his heart, and listened… his ears flappped, he opened his eyes which already had turned blue, just like that of the wolf. But still, nothing.
He couldn't believe it, he staggered backwards and looked at Curl, who only shaked his head.
"How is this possible?, Why can't … What's happening to me? Am I losing my powers or what"
"I was going to ask the same question… The Cruk's heart Kar!, What if this is the cause of all this?"
"It can't be. It doesn't have anything to do with this. If it does, I will know."
"That thing might not be harmful to us, but…"
"It could be dangerous to everyone" Kar cuts in
"Errrm not exactly what I was going to say, but…"
"We need to find her" added Kar, again.
"Oh come on! Will you just let me finish talking!"
They went after her, after all, there was no way she would go far, besides, she doesn't know where to go. It became a mission at that moment,to find Pradai.
Kar and Curl had already walked many miles, and searched for quite a long time and were seriously getting tired, humping like dreaded soldiers on foot, and yet humphing that, that thing wasn't real, but just a taunting illusion. After walking some miles later, they decided to take a break.
"How?"
"I was gonna ask you the same question. How?" Curl added
"I can't continue, I'm tired"
"Oh are you?" Curl said, twisting up his eyebrows…
"Right?"
"Yes! Let's give this thing a chase, we have been wasting our time all these while, threading like turtles."
Kar smiled, they both stood up…
The meivs although different clans, had many things in common, or better say, have everything in common, except their unique powers known for each clan. But there was Kar and Curl, ready to search for the strange stranger.
As they stood, their feet widened a bit with flaps, and they had six toes, and six fingers, which allowed them to run as fast as fast animals, and climb so well and fast, as arboreal animals. Both their finger and toe nails stretched out, very sharp and strong they could climb huge trees depending on it alone.
They could hear and sense more, but still it wasn't helpful.
"Ready?"
"Always" said Kar, as they both took off swiftly, leaving deep prints on the ground and bringing waves around them as they ran. They looked around as they ran, but still nothing, after a while of almost running through the grasslands, they decided to take another route.
The young meivs panting and sweating profusely took up the trees, each one dominating a specific area.
"If I find that thing, I will make it pay for my unfortunate days" snarled Kar climbing and running through trees.
Curl on the other hand wasn't complaining but the biac was hungry so he climbed with ease, needing no stress. He had just finished a part of his dominating area when he found a tall big tree, and he decided to check it out
"Aha, gotcha" he started climbing and birds flapped away from the top.
"I got no time" he said, as he added pressure, but it was really a tall tree for a meiv. And as he reached out to a branch on the corner to rest, he moved up his face to see a tree grohd , a very ugly and poisonous bird that stays on trees.
"Oh no" Curl exclaimed as he let his hands slip off, there he was falling from a tree that took him a great deal of time to climb, and still, it was as if time had slowed down, to make it very terrible for him, he kept on screaming, but it was like he alone can hear himself.
Luckily for Curl, Kar came through for him, because he was a Tribist, he could hear from afar and he could run in lightspeed only for serious matters, although Curl's wasn't as serious, he can't let his best buddy suffer on his watch. So before Curl could reach the ground, he was already hanging on Kar's arms, like a baby…
"What are you doing? Are you okay?" Asked Kar anxiously, before Curl could talk, he let him out of his arms and he thuds on the ground.
"What! What did you do that for?" groaned Curl.
"Why are you in my arms like a baby"
Curl hissed and shaked his head.
"You know what, I'm done. I'm going home"
"Me too"
And as Kar dropped down on the ground too, something happened… it was as if they were hypnotized and it was just lifted off their heads
"What in the name of the spirits is this" said Kar fearfully, yet surprised and confused. Curl just couldn't talk. Time had just ran down to night just this moment? They thought.
It only took them a glance at the cave entrance, and then Pradai who was weakly and feably freezing in the cold night, and worst, she had'nt eaten all day.
They both looked down and saw their legs were dipped in a magic murd, a silky muddy magic solution basically used to force hallucinations and hypnotize victims. They looked at each other eyes wide opened… funny enough, they made the trap.
"Did we just…"
"Fell in our own trap" Kar said. They have been there all the while, everything that happened wasn't real. Pradai lay there shivering, and they really felt sorry for her.
"Poor thing. didn't deserve any of these" said Curl gathering woods to make fire inside the cave, as Kar carried her inside covering her body with large warm leaves.
"So what are we going to do now?" Curl asked Kar.
"We will do exactly what we need to do." Kar said retreating to his sleeping corner.
Through the little holes in the cave, the morning sun penetrated as if seeking out a high value treasure, shining it's beautiful rays, stretching out like shooting stars and filling the cave with warmth and bliss. Baby flowers sprouted up to be partakers of this once in a while blessing. The beautiful harmless little flies whispered to each other with the language only they could understand, with smiles in their tones, they whisked all around the cave dancing to the rhythm only they can make. While the birds outside chapped and singed and merried. But what about them? The young Meivs were busy making disturbing sounds with their snoring, and as they stretched and stretched,"Oh what a morning" Curl said appreciating the blessing as he was still laying there, eyes closed. He tried to open his eyes, but he so loved the moment not to continue sleeping, so he wasn't going to apply pressure, even so, flickering his eyes was bett
They set out the next day to old Gaius, the most capable Meiv who could explain any phenomena to them. He was an expert in everything, they took him as a blessing given to them. Except for his magic tricks that don't always work, he was a good wizard. He wore glasses bigger than his eyes which always extended all through his face, he had several modifications and several colours for different occasions. He was exceptional and loved by all, especially young Meivs who trusted him with their secrets. Although there were healers, he was also in the position of attending to the sick, well, they had to take the risk. His portions were always fifty/fifty. Either it works or not. He was only six feet, which was considered short for the average Meiv. Not to young Meivs though. Kar and Curl took Pradai to old Gaius's house which was on top of a hill and visitors always had to climb some not-so-tall steps made with weak woods which never break.
She had said her story, they had to accept it for what it was, but whether they accept it or not, it doesn't really matter because the Meiv's Council were the ones who would give the final verdict. They were a group of seven warriors, they were clan heads considered to be protectors. They protect the people from external threats and have the authority to assign warriors under them. They were handpicked by their spirit guides, from their different clans, and only the strongest were chosen. That was what Curl dreamed of, to be a Biac warrior under the Meiv's Council. And to achieve this, he would have to be strong, like really really strong and fearless. They were called The Lynx Lynch because once they win over a Lynx, a wild cat-like animal with sharp fangs, sharp sense and with a violent nature. Runs faster than them, stronger than them, bigger than them, but not more intelligent. Once they win over a Lynx, they get possess
"As crows sing, as dead bodies laugh, as the warrior cries, as the night dies with the sun kissing and mesmerizing the moon, the little stars gather around the big hole of the squirrel, squeaking themselves inside for a chance to shine for themselves, for the squirrel might use them as lanterns when they excrete and as table towels when they vomit. Eww that's so gross. And as the … the chipmunk mounts on the chimpanzee… seriously? And rides with the primate all along the axis of the universe in two days, the lands shake, the land grumbles for a hero is dead" …"Hmm, seriously does any of these makes sense?" Pradai snarled peevishly at old man Gaius"Hehe exactly! don't complain you have been learning for the past one week, and all you have succeeded doing is burning my hairs with your so called portion" Gaius snarled back, resting his hands on his waist"And all you have succeeded in teaching me is how to make smokes of m
"Don't worry, I will be just fine. I have taken in all you have said to me, trust me I will do well to keep a low profile, chill. Just them, I am not going to parade myself for everyone to see me haha" Pradai assured old man Gaius not to worry about her getting caught or anything."You better be. And be back on time" Gaius added. Pradai got down from the tree house and started walking away. She stopped and waved at old man Gaius"Have a good morning sir!" She said and off she went with joy in her heart. Gaius smiled"She really does have a strong spirit. And a cheerful heart" Gaius said, inhaling the good morning scents from the plants all around. **** It took Pradai some time to get off the hill area, she had been given direction already by old man Gaius, even if he didn't, she
It was another beautiful day for Pradai and old man Gaius. And just like before, they would do some cleaning, most times, it was cleaning the mess they had done with their magical portions, or medicines that old man Gaius tried to make.As they had their morning food, which was mostly made up of fruits and vegetables, the morning sun shined through the holes and windows. Since they lived in a tree house on a hill, they had the blissful warmth of the sun and the goodness of every morning.Pradai just finished reading a supposed magic book when she remembered something. Although the book was useless to her, somehow she started enjoying reading it as it was."You know. I didn't tell you this yesterday because I didn't think much of it, but it just occurred to me now. I think is something I should be worried about" said Pradai deep in thoughts."I know is crazy, but still, what if something bad had happened? And they will
Pradai woke up to the first eyes and face she saw from the Barren lands. He looked so cute and even more adorable. Maybe it was the morning effect."Hey Curl" she said with a beautiful smile, looking eye ball to eye ball with Curl"Morning. Here's something for you" Pradai sat upright, and he brought out a package of fruits and meat"Oh wow really? All for me? Thank you so much""My pleasure. There are lots of bush meats near haha."Pradai looked around her, something was missing"What about Kar? And you should give him some too" she said, genuinely worried, she didn't want to be the reason they fight each other or be anything like that. She believed they made a perfect combo together.Curl gave her a sign to look at her behind"Don't worry. He is doing just fine" said Curl, as Pradai saw Kar treating himself to a very big meat meal."Oh" expressed Pradai"As a matter of fact, he has been eatin
Old man Gaius went outside and made sure Pradai wouldn't be able to see him. He went into the woods a bit, not far from the tree house, and whistled melodiously for a moment. When he stopped, a butterfly flew to him and perched on his nose. He whispered something to it and it flew away."Very good" he said, going back to the tree house. **** Back at Curl's fortress, he was busy stuffing his clothes with weapons, both visible and invisible"You are so funny, all these for what?" Little Ben laughed at Curl, who was a bit still, uncertain about his decision."Is none of your business""Oh it is, we are going together, and that is why you do not have to worry or do all these""You are right, we are going together, and that's why I need to do all these." Curl said stopping
As if the morning was also anticipating the big day for Iliya, Peregrin and the ViNenar sà, the youngest squad from the Elvish army. They all got out from the walls of the city to the nearest mountain where their leader briefed them. Only if they knew how much danger they were running right into. Even so, as a leader, Peregrin knew better than anyone else that every little detail matters when it came down to secret missions. Iliya held her sword in her hand, glancing at it like it was the first time she had ever seen it. With a deep sigh, she closed her eyes and brought the sword to her chest. "To be one with one's weapon, one must accept whatever comes with and from it" Peregrin said, approaching Iliya. Iliya opened her eyes and glanced at his squad. "Are they ready?" "Are you?" Peregrin retorted. Iliya didn't answer. She would have to be most nervous. "Of all of us here, you're the one who's afraid the most. And I'm beginning to wonder, perh
Iliya couldn't figure out what to do next, her heart ached but so much so her broken strength and faith. And as she watched the new moon from one of the city tops, hanging on a cliff, memories of Pradai surfaced, flooding in like quick clips in a blue spiral. She smiled as she burst into tears. "I'm sorry, Pradai" She said in tears. She had managed to carry her leg as it was all through it all, pretending that it never existed, but it was apparent and was hurting so much like her heart did. She didn't have to give up, and there was no other option than to find another way, which would need a lot of thinking. Her heart beat was all she heard, since the night was a quiet and peaceful one. But she heard footsteps approaching, on turning around, she caught a young warrior halfway toward her with one of his legs raised up. He smiled sheepishly "Hey, sorry. Didn't mean to creep you out…" "It's okay—" "But what are you doing here?" He mo
Getting back to old times was divine. Life would be alot better without the worries, pain, the fights and the what nots. It was what she felt and saw standing on the brush of the mountain which descended to the lake below the cave. Prince Drukk walked majestically to her side with a sigh. He wasn't feeling it, he didn't agree to whatever her demand was. But he was even more disappointed when his one and only sister didn't come to see her. "I have missed you, Drukk…" wishing it could change something. "But that's not why you came…" Prince Drukk led his arms behind his back. "What you ask for it's almost impossible" "But I need help. I need to save my friends, please. You can understand that, don't you?" "The only friend I had was you. I can't understand" he replied abruptly. "Then I would have to meet father" iliya stated with a determined grip. "Huh?" Said Prince Drukk, waiting for iliya to realize what she was talking about. "I ne
The tweeting of the forest birds feeding her ears, and the harmless rays of the sun working wonders on her delicate skin, and the sweet fragrance of the grasses and flowers which pleasured her sense of smell was what waked Iliya. She flicked her eyes open but sun shine smiled into her bright blue eyes and she shut them immediately. So she turned around and opened her eyes to see where she was lying down, it was okay. And when she tried getting up, she then realized that she was really weak and needed an energy boost. She got up regardless at the remembrance of Pradai and what she might be going through at that moment, it gave her enough strength to forge ahead. She staggered her way through the thick unpredictable forest and with each step she made, she held herself so as not to fall down. She threaded like that and after some big time had passed, she came upon a cleared portion in the forest whic
Iliya instructed them to get some strong log of woods and find bush ropes. And in no time, the two young Meivs had Iliya's request granted. And she single-handedly made herself a supporting pillar on her leg.How she did it, they had no idea of, for it seemed like she had some experience before in doing wonders with woodsticks and bush ropes. They saw that she was crafty, and her craft was indeed mastered. It only took Iliya a few moments to set up completely, what she needed to be able to walk by herself. It didn't look less like a clutch, nor did it look much like an artificial leg. The woodsticks were placed seperately and single paced, facing each other and the bush ropes were used to tie them together while making a space in the middle– enough to have her legs comforted by it. The ropes also had an intersection which made the final draw, when she had her legs inside the craft with strong confidentiality.
"Wh...what ..do you mean she is in danger?" Iliya asked Curl. It took him a moment to get himself together, he sat right."She is fighting some, umm I didn't see it very well, but she is not in a good spot right now, she is probably fighting or , whatever. All I know is that she is in danger."We should go look for her! We can't leave her by herself!" Iliya trembled."Cool down, you can't do anything much in this condition" Little Ben said to Iliya."But I think she can take care of herself , right? She killed a Cruk, and two Lynx Lynchs, who else can do that?" Little Ben added , looking at both of them, but nothing was helping Iliya's feelings, nothing was helping, because she was still panicking."Come on, we are talking about Pradai here. Whoever she is fighting against, I am sure she will be fine… right? …Curl say something… is there something else you are not telling us?"&
"So, the day is finally over?" Little Ben said as he climbed down from tbe tree with a bunch of fruits in his hands."No, is Just getting started, silly" Curl said with a hiss.Little Ben handed some fruits to Iliya who was sitting down on the ground, enjoying the feels of the grasses, and the cool and soothing wind from the trees."Boss, aren't we going to eat meat tonight?""You know where to get them, don't you?""Aish, you do your thing best.""We will manage the remaining meat inside until tomorrow. I just want to rest. Now, we should be going back inside before someone sees us"."Ouch, just a little time mm? I like the fresh air" Iliya pleaded."I wish but we have stayed here for many hours, we can't risk getting captured. Besides there's enough air inside…""I know, but the view and everything, you don't get it inside.""That's not a proble
Kar was under the protection of Pradai, and even though the Lynx Lynchs wanted nothing but to make a mess of him for betraying them—so they thought. They would have to go through Pradai first. And the said demon obviously wouldn't have a problem making a mess of them."I'm tired of fighting, but trust me, this demon and this beast is never tired of sucking blood, and absorbing the living out of you beings! Now I will only warn you this once, go away from here, or you won't even have the chance to regret it!"The two Lynx Lynchs looked at each other, eager to fight till their last drop of blood themselves, still they were facing a supposed stronger opponent."Fine then!" Yelled one of the Lynx Lynchs as he attacked first, with all the strength and power he had, and at that first strike, he was able to give Pradai a fatal blow that knocked her down to the ground!. The rusted leaves on the ground were blown away by her fall, and the L
The two Meivs who ran away from Pradai found their way to the Councilors chamber. They ran inside and bowed down to the Councilors, shaking in fear and breathing profusely like wounded bears. Apparently they had been finding it hard to tell anyone of their encounter because it was something they have not seen before, a Lynx Lynch killed just in a matter of minutes. It was something their minds and hearts had to debate because the water being poured into the strong golden cup was breaking the gold itself."Speak" said the Chief councilor reluctantly, he didn't care about what their faces said, only what their mouth confessed."Another Lynx Lynch has been killed""What!!? Wait another Lynx Lynch? Who did this? Why aren't their reports?! Who did this! Who dares!?is it the Thogwarts? Who?! " Asked the Chief councilor raging in anger, but with sprinkles of doubts and atoms of confusion—the possibility wasn't possible."The human"
