At 7:00 AM, a sharp knock on the ward door interrupted Amelia's sleep. The sound echoed through the room, startling both her and Alex.

Alex rubbed his eyes fast and staggered out of bed, still sleepy. His unkempt hair and slow gait were indicators of his continued drowsiness.

He gave a long yawn, attempting to shake off the remnants of his broken slumber. He walked slowly over to the door, wondering who could have knocked so early.
