Chapter Twenty-Seven Elsa's POV The place buzzed with so much noise as all the maidens in the Pack paced to and fro, fulfilling one task or the other in preparation for the biggest ceremony ever known… The marriage between Alpha Davon and Princess Alina. It was inevitable, yet as I stood in a corner of the kitchen cutting some onion, I was full of an overwhelming sadness that I couldn't explain. It wasn't even that I wanted to get with him anymore. I had put that behind me a long time ago. Yet, the bond we shared remained and I couldn't deny it. The more I thought about the wedding, the angrier I got. Since I had no one else to vent my anger, I took it out on the poor onions, chopping them with so much force. Thankfully, they couldn't cry so I felt no guilt. "You're going to destroy that one," Abigail chuckled beside me, but I paid no attention to her words. I was in no mood for any chit-chat, especially since I had been overworked since the preparations began. Mrs Rosa kept pi
Chapter Twenty-Eight Alpha Davon's POV A week had passed and I was two more weeks away from getting married to Princess Alina. Yet, I didn't feel like it at all, even if I had already concluded in my heart that it was going to happen. My wolf wasn't shy about his displeasure too. He too, wasn't happy with the arrangement but what choice did we have? It wasn't our fault that the goddess refused to let me have a mate. Perhaps, it was her way of keeping me grounded so I wouldn't let power get so deep into my head. It still did, so I wondered why she had to do all she did for nothing. When the clan's priestess declared that many years ago, I couldn't help but bow my head in pain and anguish. I wondered how life was going to be for me and why I wasn't allowed to be like everyone else. All of those didn't change anything. She had made up her mind. I left my room early in the morning, hoping to see what was going on with the maids. It had been so long that I graced them with my presenc
Chapter Twenty-Nine Elsa's POV "Damn, girl! Look how you spoke to the Alpha," Abigail exclaimed putting her right hand over her mouth. "That was some badass stuff! Thankfully, you didn't get into trouble for it. Else, I'd have never gotten the chance to talk about it this way. I'd have been all sympathetic and teary…all of that stuff. But look at me. I'm talking about this. Isn't that just great?" I ignored her and kept doing my job. I wasn't in the mood for any of that. I'd hardly been in the mood for anything since the preparations commenced. It seemed to me like everything got me annoyed and the way I was treated by the Princess and Mrs Rosa who suddenly changed to her hateful self didn't help in any way. "Who do we have here?" I looked up to see who it was even though the voice already gave him out before I looked and it was none other than Prince Murray. He had probably come to the kitchen to see how things were going, just like his brother, not so long ago. "Greetings, Prin
Chapter Thirty Alpha Davon's POV "Welcome, brother." My brother greeted me as soon as I got into the throne room with a huge grin on his face and I just ignored him and walked to my chair. I was mad at him for not showing up. I didn't even know why he didn't. I got news from Raymond that he was just as informed as I was so I expected to see him there, fighting alongside everyone else but he didn't. "Where were you?" I asked him, unable to hold back anymore. I had thought I could just ignore him and move on but I couldn't do that anymore. "I was in the kitchen, brother, making sure that things were going just fine." He kept a straight face as he spoke, pretending he didn't know why I asked the question but I knew he did. There was no way he couldn't have known what he was supposed to do. "Yet, you knew that your people were being attacked. You were aware that I and Raymond were fighting off the rival Packs and you didn't care that we were in danger?" "Brother, you know that I
Chapter Thirty-One Elsa's POV "It's your first day of training, Elsa!" Abigail yelled as I put on my clothes, staring at me in admiration. "You're going to be able to fight off the bad guys. If I ever get into trouble, I have a friend who can beat up all my enemies and save me. Isn't that just so sweet? I envy you, my friend." "Do you?" "Well, yeah, you got me there. I don't envy you. I wouldn't want anything to do with going out to fight wars and all of that. It's always easier to hide. But yeah, I'm proud of you. I think that's the word I should have used. I can't wait to see you become a badass swordswoman. I'm rooting for you." I rubbed her hair; something she didn't quite appreciate so much, and walked away from the room so I could meet up with Prince Murray at the Pack's training ground. Small droplets of rain fell on my head as I walked and that was unexpected. It hadn't rained for a while and it wasn't the time for that so it was strange that it was happening. Nature alwa
Chapter Thirty-Two Elsa's POV We both walked hastily to where the sound was coming from and that was when I saw that it was one of the trainees. She was on the floor rolling around in pain while one of the warriors stood over her. "What happened here?" Prince Murray asked the warrior who just kept staring at the lady. "These folks are overzealous. They're too eager to do something instead of taking their time to learn," he explained, looking very concerned. "She tried to spar with one of the other trainees. This one that is standing to my right." He pointed to another young woman who stood timidly and we turned to see who was. She was quite taller than her fallen counterpart and had a much larger frame. She looked a bit over 6 feet; a nice height for a woman. The other lady looked not more than 5 '6, even if I couldn't quite get that accurately since she was still lying on the floor. "I asked them to wait for me to return so they could continue with their training," the warrior
Chapter Thirty-three Princess Alina's POV The guards came in at once into the room and spotted me standing in front of Elsa. She wasn't fazed by that either, she still looked into my eyes defiantly, like she was going to hit me if I did anything to trigger her. I found it very insulting and I couldn't take it. Besides, I wanted to know what she hit like; if she was as strong as she thought she was. I'd seen a lot of people who weren't as strong as they made themselves to be and I wondered if she was just like them. There was only one way to find out. I slapped her hard once again on her right cheek and then on her left, watching vigilantly to see how she'd respond. "You think you're tough, eh?" I yelled at her, waiting for her to do something. "Do something, Elsa! Hit me! I dare you," I urged her on with ceaseless taunts, seeing that she had refused to do anything, despite her countenance which suggested the opposite. She was mad. I could see it in her eyes but I wanted more. I
Chapter Thirty-Four Elsa's POV Immediately I opened my eyes, I quickly held onto my stomach which was quite sore from all the kicks that I had received from that stupid girl the previous day. I hated her so much and I just wished that I could make her pay for all that she did to me, but I couldn't. She was way out of my reach and perhaps, I should have simply done all that I could to always stay out of her way. Not when she messed with my friend though. I went to Mandy's room so that I could give her the beating she deserved for hurting my friend, little did I know that the Princess was there. Now, it was I who was being consoled by the friend that I went to defend. The irony of life. "I'm so sorry that you had to go through all of this for my sake, Elsa," Abigail said, rubbing her hand on my back as I clutched my stomach, still feeling a bit of pain. My wounds had all healed up and even the part of my shoulder that I felt got a bit dislocated was alright. It was just the pain tha
