Chapter 3

Liam was hospitalized for two months. I picked him up on the day he was discharged and ran into the culprit and their family. I was no longer the furious woman I'd been when waiting outside the ICU. In fact, I nodded calmly at them in greeting.

Liam had lost weight over the past two months. His eyes were no longer as bright as they'd been in the past—there was a veil of gloominess over them now. He had ultimately still become a shell of the outstanding man he'd once been. He now looked like a lifeless puppet.

I started avoiding him after bringing him home. What I'd experienced in my past life had become a nightmare I couldn't dispel.

Liam was already devastated by his loss, so my actions only fueled his pessimism. He often raged at me, shouting, "You want to leave me because you think I'm worthless now, don't you? No, you've been wanting to leave me even before this.
