When we were already downstairs, a tall shelf filled with books was the first thing I noticed. We walked beyond it and saw a man, probably in his thirties, with shoulder length hair and glasses. He was sitting on a messy table with papers and books. When he noticed us, he lifted his gaze with a crease on his forehead.

“Sir Norman, Alpha Calix is here for you,” Billy said politely. He smiled at us and I returned his smile before he left. He seemed to be very young, perhaps between sixteen or seventeen.

Norman cleared his throat and went back to whatever he was reading in the book. He seemed to not be intimidated by Lucius’ presence, which was rare. “Alpha Calix, it has been a long time.”

Calix took the seat in front of the table and he tapped the chair beside him, telling me to sit. When I was already seated, he said, “Yes, long time no see, Norman. It has been what, three years? Billy was still a kid the last time I visited.”

Though Calix phrased it as a “visit” I was sure there was m

“Never mind. I have nothing to give,” I shrugged it off, not giving Alpha Calix a chance to ask anything from me. I was sure what he would ask wasn’t easy to do. He wouldn’t take something not beneficial after all.“If you change your mind, all you have to do is ask.”“No thanks, Alpha.”After several minutes of being out of the world, Norman returned to his senses and his eyes went back to its original state. I gave my full attention to him.“Have you talked to her? To the guardian?” I asked which made Norman questioned,“Have you met her?”“The guardian of Cursed Mirror? Yes, when I was locked inside.”“Really?” Norman seemed like he couldn’t believe it.“What’s with your reaction, Norman? You think she’s lying?” Calix asked, his eyes narrowing sharply at the warlock.“No, it’s not that. It’s just, the guardians of the relics don’t show to every person that goes inside the relics, especially the Cursed Mirror. They only show themselves to someone special, someone who has the ability

“After I saved you from the underground society, helped you plot against Benedict, got you out of the mirror, caught you after you jumped off a building, and helped you solve your problem in shifting, you’d just say that as if I did nothing good to you?” He massaged the bridge of his nose as if I was giving him a headache. “I seriously can’t believe you, little wolf. I thought we somehow formed a bond after all we’ve been through.”“I’m sorry to disappoint you then,” I said which made Alpha Calix scoff.“Slaves don’t treat their masters like that. Watch your manners, Lory. You don’t want to walk your way back to the house, do you?” he threatened, and I was getting used to him throwing threats all the time.“I have four feet. I can always run, master.”“Uh-oh,” he clicked his tongue. “You forgot you can’t shift.”I pressed my eyes for a moment. How bullshit to forget about that.“I was just being honest. Do you want me to lie to you?” Now that made him stop to think for a moment.“Righ

“This one,” I gave him a dark red suit. “What’s the wedding’s theme? Are we allowed to wear dark colors?”He shrugged and I sighed. I doubt he knew anything about wedding stuff.Alpha Calix called some staff for cufflinks and he made me choose what was better on him. I chose a simple one. When I handed it over, he didn’t get it and instead bossed around, “Put it on me.”Couldn’t he do it himself?I just didn’t say anything and stepped forward, inching closer to him. I held his wrist, placing it in between us so I could put the cufflink. After putting one, I went to the other cuff. I thought he was done making me serve him but after that, he requested neckties to the staff. It didn’t take long for the staff to come back with a bunch of ties neatly piled on a box for showcase.“Pick one,” Calix said and I took a glance at his suit to make a perfect pair.I didn’t ask him and just chose what I liked. He didn’t get it from hand though. When he pointed at his collar, I knew what he wanted.

“Do you like Beaumont?” Alpha Calix asked when we were seated. Beaumont left us to prepare. The ceremony was about to start.I knitted my brows, didn’t know where his question came from. “Yes, I do like him. He’s a nice person. But if you’re asking me if I like him romantically, then no. Why do you ask?” My eyes narrowed at him, curious what he had been thinking.“I told you. You better not get involved with him. I have known him for years, more than a decade. It’s just a piece of warning for my little slave.”“How thoughtful you are, Master Calix,” I whispered back sarcastically. The mellow music from the orchestra enveloped the hall as the bride walked her way to the altar. She was in a beautiful white dress, and she was walking with Beaumont, which gave me the idea that their father was gone, or maybe had fled to the other side of the world. The bride was pretty. She had that joyous smile on her lips while suppressing her tears. But as they were nearing where I stood, I noticed the

“They are a perfect pair,” I said while holding a champagne glass. Alpha Calix and I were standing near a table full of drinks. The dance for the newlyweds had started.“You can say that for now. Let’s just hope their so-called love for each other won’t fade along with time.”“Don’t call it “so-called”, they wouldn’t marry each other if their love isn’t real. You’re so bitter when it comes to love, Master Calix. Could the reason be your lack of experience on that aspect?”“Love is not-““Real?” I raised an eyebrow. “You haven’t felt it that’s why you don’t believe. It doesn’t mean you can’t see something, it isn’t true. It might be abstract, but there are far truer things than one can see. And I believe one of them is love.”“You sound like you have been in love so many times before. Were you?”I sighed. “No, but I had boyfriends. I liked them, I felt something close to love. And even though those weren’t so serious, I observed people around me. I even knew this man named Alex, a huma

“You haven’t met your mate? Then why did they say you rejected your mate,” I wonder if he made it up himself to become more ruthless in the eyes of people to remind them he was someone they shouldn’t cross.“Beaumont made it up. I wanted to get rid of those mamas who wanted to wed their daughters to me and it was the idea he came up with.”I chuckled, thinking how ridiculous Beaumont’s idea was. “You really don’t care about your reputation, do you?”“I’ve got more important matters to deal with. It’s the least of my concerns.”“Calix Voss Henderson, the unbothered alpha.”The music ended. I took a seat away from those ladies who were eyeing me and grabbed a glass of refreshment. Lucius was cornered by a few older men, leaving me alone in where I sat.Beaumont suddenly went to me.“Hey, you bored?” he asked, holding a glass of wine. He danced with a few girls earlier that was why I wondered why he had no one by his side now.“Not really,” I shook my head. “I enjoy watching them,” I sai

“He is Henry, my most trusted person,” Alpha Calix introduced me to Henry. After we had made a deal to get what we both want, he decided to introduce me to his people first.I figured that his house here in Manchester looked like an ancient luxury manor, it can even pass as a Victorian palace. He also had a lot of maids who are obviously wolf shifters. Of course why would he get human servants. That would only make a problem because of the kind of lifestyle he’s living in.He only introduced me to few people. Henry, his right hand, butler and all-around assistant. Beatrice, the head of the maids in the manor and is ranked the second after Henry. Her name really sound old fashioned, and trust me, she really is. She wasn’t the sexy type of female subordinate in movies that becomes the rival of the female lead in movies. Actually, I can’t guess her age, probably she’s around late forties. But in spite of that, she still looks very beautiful. I guess it must be because of the nature of b

Now I think I get how Alpha Calix was able to solve the problem. Of course, he is very influential. Having a mall exclusively opened for him is not hard. I don’t even think he had to use supernatural abilities to do this, his money is probably enough. I knew the Voss clan is an old rich family, but I guess Calix is ‘filthy’ rich and he doesn’t mind to show it.“Go pick everything you want,” Calix said.“Is this mall yours, perhaps?” I didn’t sound so serious that was why when he answered, I was surprised.“It is.”“Wait. Are you serious?”His brow raised. “Do I look like I’m joking?”I cleared my throat and stepped back a bit. “I’ll go look around.”I walked away from him to go inside the boutiques and I thought he would just stay right where he was when I noticed him stalking me. I stopped to look at him. He asked, “What?”“I thought you would just wait for me to finish picking some stuffs.”“I figured I better help you decide for your clothes since I want you to look decent enough a

Tears of joy rolled down my cheeks when I read what is written in the invitation delivered to me. Calix, who was carrying our little girl in his arms, went to me with an alarmed face when he saw my expression.“What is wrong?”I shook my head and smiled. “I’m just happy.”“Happy about what?”His eyes drifted to the invitation card I was holding.“Jaxon is getting married to his mate?” His gaze went back to me and I saw his worried face as if something is wrong with me, or that I feel bad about it and he wants to comfort me or something.“Yes.” Whoever this Lea is, I am happy that she filled the hollow part in Jaxon's heart. He is such a good man and I have been waiting for this day to come. For him to be finally happy again. For him to be loved again the way he deserves to be. And I feel so glad that I couldn’t help but burst to tears.“You are upset because he’s getting married,” Calix stated in a calm voice as if he understood clearly that I love another man aside from him.“No! After one month…As soon as I got out of bed I immediately felt nauseous. I quickly run towards the bathroom. I grabbed my hair and vomited on the sink.Early in the morning this is what happened. So I couldn't help but doubt that Lili's suspicion was true. From what I've heard, pregnant women sometimes have morning sickness.I heard the bathroom door open, I no longer bothered to look back because I was busy vomiting. No one enters my room without asking for permission first except Calix."Lory," his voice was soft.I thought he already left last night but here he is, fueling my irritation again."Why are you here? Get out! I don't need you here! You should leave me!"I tried to get out but he just blocked me. With our body's closeness, I can smell his manly perfume. I inhaled his scent. It's so fragrant I feel like I want to smell you all night. But I tried to ignore the feeling of wanting to hug and smell him all day."Don't block my way, Calix!"He sighed. A ghost of smile plaster

Alec couldn’t speak in too much irritation and probably, anger. His eyes were so red, like the color of evil itself. The color of blood and war. The color of death. Yes, red can symbolize love like that of a rose. But it could symbolize many things such as what I have mentioned already.I know what I am doing is a big risk, but I have to try regardless. I need to save the innocent lives of those people who chose to stand by my side. They don’t deserve death like that especially when Alec is the one serving it. He is evil. His soul—if ever he has one which I doubt—deserves to rot in hell all together with his evil subordinates, especially Vienna. If only I am given a chance, I will really kill her. With the anger I am feeling for her, I won’t miss it for sure. She is just lucky that I am not capable enough to do that especially with the given circumstance. Because if only I was capable enough and there is no Alec blocking my way, I would have surely done it, given of course with the he

  • Fatal Rules: The Alpha's Game   Chapter 82: Her game

Back when I was young, my dream was simple. Stay out of troubles, help the pack, earn a degree, make a good career, marry my mate and have kids, maybe two or three. I envy those big families so I wanted to make my own. Maybe because I grew up in a broken family and I felt lonely. When Dad remarried to a woman who has a daughter same age as me, I thought I would finally have someone I can call as sister. I wanted a sibling. I wanted a normal happy family. But turns out that I would be kicked out in my own house because of her. Not that I was literally kicked out though since I left myself. But it is still the same for me because I knew I had no choice but to leave. It was getting worse every day and I don’t want Dad to worry about my issues. I went to Lynnwood, hoping I would calm down there and I also hoped that my stay in a new surrounding would bring good to me.However, looking back now, I can say that it brought me to something both good and bad. Staying in Lynnwood opened me to m

I looked at myself in the mirror. I just stopped walking back and forth like some psycho who can't behave her ass. I also kept on checking my clothes, my hair, my face, and everything that could be noticed about me. Well, who can blame me? It's weekend today. The day I promised Calix that I would meet his parents in their home. The past few days, I have been really preparing myself for this even Calix told me many times that I have nothing to worry about. But isn't it normal for a wife to be nervous when meeting her husband's family for the first time?I looked at my outfit again. I was really torn earlier if I should wear something so feminine like a dress, skirt or if I should just be casual and have my usual attire when I am walking around Lynnwood – skinny jeans, fitted blouse, cardigan and sneakers. Though at the end, I decided to choose the latter since I am more comfortable with it.My hair was on loose, the mermaid curls naturally curling on the ends of my brown hair. I only p

"Hi, Lory! It's good that you have accepted my invitation. Hello, Alpha Calix," Irish said enthusiastically with Peter beside her. We just met outside Lynnwood, in the establishment where we agreed to watch the new movie she was talking about."Hi, Lory and uh... Alpha Calix," Peter greeted me with a smile but when he mentioned Calix's name and his eyes drifted to him, his smile became uneasy. He looked suddenly nervous.I can't blame him. Calix is such effortlessly intimidating. You know, every time you look at him, the first thing you would notice is his intimidating air that is screaming with authority and dominance like no other. I know because I once experience to be initimidated with him so bad.Actually, Calix still do intimidate me sometimes, but I am much more comfortable with him now that we already have a relationship and we have the chance to know each other deep each day. I only feel awkward around him seldomly, when we talk about something or he does something that makes

The whole time I was aware that I was falling, my eyes were close and there was still that fear that I might hit something down there. Though, the fear slowly faded when I felt how warm and hard the arms wrapped around my body were.Calix's not gonna do something that would hurt me. I hold onto that belief. And when I finally felt the cold water against my skin, I didn't hit onto anything. It was just the cold water, me holding my breath, and the ironclad body against me. I was about to move to swim up, but I froze when in the midst of coldness, I felt warm, soft lips that touched mine, easing the coldness and my fears away.I almost forgot that I couldn't breathe underwater, but with Calix giving me enough air as he kissed me, I had completely forgotten where we are and how cold the water was.I was to carried away that I didn't notice Calix was already swimming our way upward with his ironclad arm around me. The next thing I knew, we were already on the water's surface. He gave me e

“Isn't she the luna of Alpha Calix?"I’m feeling dizzy and my body feels sore everywhere but I still did my best to open my eyes. The first thing that met my gaze was a bright light. It blinded me for a moment.Am I in heaven? That’s possible. I remember falling off the cliff after being chased by my pack. It’s just reasonable that I’m dead by now.I felt a warm thing that touched my face. A finger, perhaps. It pressed on my cheek, which startled me.I moved my eyelids up, this time wider. There’s still that blinding light but as I try to focus my gaze, I realize it’s the sky.“She’s awake.” I dropped my gaze on the little boy on my right. He’s quite young. Around four or five, I guess. He stared at me with curiosity and worry in his bright brown eyes. When the cold wind blew, that was when I knew I’m soaking wet. I looked on my left and saw an older boy. He’s obviously younger than me. He has the same bright brown eyes the small boy has, so I assume they are siblings. Both of them ar

"Did you know what pack they are from, Alpha Calix?" Gideon asked after the invited guests were completely wiped out. "No traces in their swords and daggers, nor in their bodies. And no one dared to speak." "What pack must be behind of this?" it was from Henry. There many assassin guilds but the biggest and most prominent is ours, the reason why we have a lot of enemies. This did not happen only once that was why we were not surprised of the attack. "That is hard to know since we have a lot of enemies," I said before walking out from the group. "Where are you going? We are still in a meeting." Henry is such a nuisance. He really gets into my nerves most of the time. "I need to prepare for my mission tomorrow." Before he could talk more, I was already out of the room. The following night, I left the manor before sunset as what I have planned. It was already dark when I arrived at the Dark Valley where the base of Raven pack was situated. Wolf shifters have very sharp sense of sm
