Devyn

Devyn watched Kieran sleeping next to her and breathe out a heavy sigh. Tonight was the first time since they’ve been together that they went to bed without making love and it was partially her fault because she felt no desire to be intimate. She loved Kieran with all her heart, but this new hurdle scared her. Raised by an alcoholic and abusive father, she wasn’t sure she could give the child the love Kieran would expect of her.

She walks over to the large windows and looked out at the city skyline, deep in thought. Children were never in her immediate future with Kieran, and yet one would be thrust into their lives. Kieran made it clear to her that even if Killian was not his, he would still take the child in so either way it would force her to play mother to him.

She looked at the time and saw that it was 2 am. Clarissa would be closing up soon. Glancing over at Kieran who was in a deep sleep, a sad smile crosses her face and she knew

Devyn New Orleans was always beautiful in October. Devyn stood in front of her childhood home with a lump in her throat. She hadn’t been back here since she was 17. This was at the height of her father’s abuse: she started looking more like her mother and he was looking at her differently. She hopped from shelter to shelter until she eventually turned 18 and started waitressing to earn her way through life - and she hasn’t stopped. Devyn walks up towards the house with her only luggage bag and poised her hand to knock. This was it, the prodigal daughter returning, and she wondered if her mother would hold her at fault for leaving. Alana Reilly never made excuses for what her husband did to both her and her daughter, but she never left the abuse. Devyn never forgave her mother for her weakness. After knocking for a while, no one opened the door. This was when she noticed the pile of letters on the porch and the severely overgro

Devyn Devyn arrives in Ontario the following day and bought herself a car from a dealership, one that didn’t scream ‘I have money’. It felt so strange to buy a car clean off the show room floor, pay for it in full and driving out feeling like a million bucks. Well, in Devyn’s case 50 million. She was on her way driving to her mother’s cottage, which, according to the lawyers, had to be cleaned out and aired once a month, as per her mother’s request. During her drive up to the cottage, she wondered why her mother never ran away with her and came to live in Ontario. She was certain they would have been happier up here; happier and safe. Devyn shakes her head sadly. Her mother loved a monster after all these and decided to take his beatings all the years instead of escaping with her only daughter. She hadn’t opened the envelope that contained the details of her biological father, deciding to rather do it this evening when she arrived at

Devyn stared at the book her mother left her. Although it wasn’t just any book; it was a diary left to her. She grew terrified of opening it because if the last 48 hours proved anything; it was that she didn’t know who her mother was at all.Grabbing a bottle of wine from the cellar (She found this gem yesterday) and a glass, she got comfortable on the sofa and opened her mother’s diary, wondering what she would find out now. A picture fell out of the diary, which Devyn held up and smiled at; it was her mother on stage doing what she loved and looking happier than she had ever seen her look. Her scarlet hair fell down her back in waves and she looked simply ethereal. A sense of sadness took over Devyn’s heart as she realised what her step father reduced her mother to. Then she started to read.18 January 1985I finally did it! I got a gig at a blues club tonight! The owner took an interest in me when I was ab

  • Fatal Fascination: A Mafia Trinity Novel   Act 29: Two Months

Devyn Devyn wakes up from yet another fever dream where Kieran took her away from everything, killing all those who disrespected and violated her. Whisking her away to their love nest and vowing never to let harm come to her again. But reality crashed through and she knew Kieran wasn’t there. Of course, he wasn’t. If he was, she wouldn’t be bent over double from the blows to her back administered earlier. No one told her why she was here or what purpose she served, but every evening someone would come in here to violate her in the worst possible ways. Devyn rubbed her stomach and wished she was still naïve, wondering where the men were taking her after they ambushed her at the cottage. She knew something was off because they spoke Italian and her heart hasn’t stopped hammering since they shoved her in between two men in a truck and blindfolded her. She tried asking them who they were and why they were sent, but they wouldn’t answer her. When

Dimitri walks towards Kieran with no fear, knowing that he could snap at any moment, and nods. “She looks far along, Teague, four months at the most and if they continue to torture her like that, she will lose the child.”Four months? He paces the floor with anxiety gripping his heart as hopelessness sets in his core. Four months... four months and yet she left him. Now, are you ready to do this or not?” He asks Kieran, voice calm as ever. But Kieran shakes his head, “No, I’ll kill the guy.” He says with a grin, catching Dimitri’s

I sit across from the woman who was my fascination for so long and now has grown into the love of my life. I never knew what this feeling was when I first started seeing her as more than the woman I thought I despised. Now I realise how foolish I was before.“Are you going to eat or keep staring?” she asks me after placing a forkful of pasta in the mouth. I chuckle and shake my head. “Sorry, just day dreaming.”“Hopefully, it’s about me?” She says, finishing off the last of her favourite meal. I roll my eyes. “When isn’t it about you?” Ah, fuck, we sound like a couple of teenagers, but I fucking love it. Anastasiya grins and stands up, leaning over the kitchen table with her swollen belly. “Does that mean I’m in your nightmares as well?” She asks with a raised eyebrow, and I put the last forkful of pasta in my mouth. “You bet your ass that you are.”

She would be dead by now if you didn’t!”“Killian…?” I murmur, my throat feeling as dry as parchment and my eyes struggling to open. I realise that I’m lying on my side and turn my head, opening my eyes straight into the green pair that haunts my dreams.“Hey, Princess,” he says with a smile and strokes my hair. “How’re you feeling?”What? “Killian? Why… Why are you here? What happened?” I stutter with a hoarse voice. The last thing I remember was hearing a bang before fading out. It usually happens

With my heart sitting in my fucking ass, I knock on Dimitri’s office door, and he tells me to enter. A small smile crosses his lips when he looks up from his laptop and sees me. “So finally you’ve conceded, eh?” He says with a chuckle as we shake hands.I shrug. “The old man wants to retire soon; it’s only fair,” I say with a smile, and we take our respective seats. “To cut a long story short, the Bratva members who are inching in on your territory are based in Washington. They’re looking to take out every trace of the Westies in Hell's Kitchen, but I have shown no reason as to why.” Dimitri starts.“I know why; the shipments from Dubai. We’re the only ones receiving a direct line from Tarian, and we get the cleanest cut. That’s the only thing I can think of.” I say.Dimitri sits back in his chair and sighs. “I suppose, and since DiMarco receives a similar shipment

I watch as she walks away from me for what would be the last time and savour it. Anastasiya felt the same way about me, but there’s nothing either of us can do about it anymore. She belonged to a fucking politician now.Deciding to put this mess behind me, I get in my car and hightail it out of there. There’s no use in sticking around now that I’ve had a final taste of my forbidden fruit - and oh, how sweet she was.I can still taste her long after I leave the Baranov mansion, still hear her moaning my name and gagging on my cock. How the fuck did we gravitate back towards one another after our shitty relationship in school? If only I weren’t such a little shit back then, that would have been me in place of that fucking politician. They say regret usually comes too late, and right now, I am filled to the brim with it.Even if I managed to find someone else in the future, no one would compare to her; Anastasiya was it for me, and as

AnastasiyaOf course, it's positive. Dakota tells me not to worry, and obviously, I do. I am a mess of nerves throughout my getting dressed, the ride to the wedding, the vows, and congratulations. Having my father walk me down the aisle brought me to tears, and a bittersweet emotion clouds my heart. He will no longer have me in his life, and it hurts like hell.I hate to say it, but I am no longer Anastasiya Baranova; I am now Anastasiya Ackermann.Just like that, my powerful underworld name fell away, and now it is replaced with a politician’s. I know my father needs me to do this, and it is my way of making it up to him, so I plaster on a fake smile and push through. The wedding is well attended with many famous faces - both of the mafia underworld and political parties. Even a few celebrities were here, some I did not invite.I had changed out of my huge wedding dress and am now wearing a comfortable strapless eveni

AnastasiyaI walk over to them and place a hand on Dakota’s shoulder. “Hey, are you okay, Dee?” I ask, not sure what to ask in any case. She nods, then wipes her tears away. “I’m just overwhelmed. I didn’t expect Dylan to say all those things or even know all those things.” I nod and rub her back. “You have a tough boy there, babe. Also, you don’t have to push yourself; if being here and around my brother is this hard, you don’t have to be here for the wedding.” Dakota’s head whips up, and she shoots me a glare. “I’m the maid of honour; of course I have to be here! Also, Ayden doesn’t affect me as much as you think, Ana. I was more worried about what he would have done to Dylan.” She says and cups her son’s cheek.“I wouldn’t have allowed him to do anything to either of you. But, Dee, we will need to introduce him to my fath

Oh my God, my best friend is here! I haven’t seen her since she checked into rehab after Ayden’s abuse; her parents then sent her to a private school, and she worked for a few years at her mother’s fashion house in Paris. We’ve kept in contact, though.Running out of the mansion doors, I see her Bugatti Veyron pull up and sprint towards her. We shriek as we see one another and run into each other’s arms, crying like babies.I then push her away and take in the sight of her, sighing as I do so - she looked exactly like her mother—Blonde, curvaceous, perfect size 10, tall, blue eyes - gorgeous.“You look amazing, Dr Dereon!” I say, giving her anoth
