Chapter 4

"Hurry up, Gerald! I'm tired!" Quinn ignored Maurice completely and stretched lazily before going back into the room.

Gerald could only do as she said. So, he took a few maids with him to clean up Quinn's room.

"Change out all of the furniture in this room. You only have one hour." Quinn didn't want to use anything that Kimberly had used before. She thought of them as soiled and dirty.

"But Ms. Quinn, it's the middle of the night—"

"Gerald, have you forgotten your roots once again?" Quinn asked, flexing her wrists.

Gerald immediately got the maids to prepare everything according to Quinn's instructions.

By the time the room was ready, two hours had passed. After having tortured the majority of the bastards in the villa, Quinn slept very well that night.

"Mom, are you really going to let Quinn attend my engagement party tomorrow?" Kimberly had been behaving herself in front of Maurice. However, she didn't like the possibility of Quinn crashing her engagement party.

It had been hard for her to finally get together with Simon. Also, the Xandors were now working with the Pattersons, which meant the former's prestige would only continue to grow.

Kimberly couldn't risk Quinn ruining her plans for her.

Araminta replied, "It won't take much to make sure she doesn't appear at the party tomorrow."

"What do you mean?"

"Alright now, don't worry about it. I promise that you won't be seeing her at your engagement party tomorrow."

"Thanks, Mom. You're the best!"

Araminta often did a lot of the dirty work for Kimberly, and the latter usually never had to lift a finger at all.

The way Kimberly and Araminta saw it, Quinn was just as useless as her bitch of a mother, anyway. They had been able to kick them both out of the Jowell family years ago. So, there was no way they would allow Quinn and Lisa to return.

And this time, they would make sure that Quinn suffered a worse fate than before.

By the time Quinn woke up, it was 11:00 am. She felt refreshed after getting a full ten hours of sleep. She purposely put on an all-black outfit before going down the stairs.

Maurice's face turned stormy when he saw Quinn in the black outfit. "It's Kimberly and Simon's engagement today, not their funeral. What's with the all-black outfit?"

Quin didn't even bother replying to him. Instead, she asked, "Gerald, where's my breakfast?"

"Look at the time. How dare you demand food when you've woken up at such a late hour in the day?"

Maurice hated every fiber of Quinn's being, especially her eyes, which looked exactly the same as Lisa's. They made him feel uneasy.

"You're just a rando who married Mom. What right do you have to even speak? Gerald, breakfast. Now. Don't make me repeat myself again."

Maurice shouted, "Quinn Jowell, are you trying to make me mad?"

Dressed in a gown, Araminta came down the stairs when she heard the commotion in the living room. "Maurice, it's fine. Don't be mad. Quinn is still a child; she's young and naïve.

"Quinn, your father hasn't been in the best of health, so stop trying to rile him up. Also, I've prepared a gown for you to wear to the party."

With that, Araminta instructed a maid to bring out the dress. "I didn't know that you'd be coming back. This gown was originally prepared for Kimberly. She's only worn it once. You don't mind, do you?"

"What right does she have to refuse? It's good enough that we're not making her attend the engagement party naked. Look at the dress she's wearing. It's a complete disgrace to the family!"

Maurice just wanted to pick a fight with Quinn.

Quinn smiled coldly and took the gown from the maid. Then, she drew a lighter from her pocket and set the blue dress on fire.

"Quinn Jowell! What are you doing? Do you know how much this gown is worth?" Maurice felt a splitting headache coming.

"I thought Kimberly didn't want it anymore. Since she doesn't want it, it only makes sense to burn it. Isn't that right?" Quinn asked.

She then looked at Gerald, who was standing next to them. "Gerald, do you want to be fired? Where's my breakfast?"

Gerald was angry at Quinn's devil-may-care attitude, but he didn't dare to show it. He immediately instructed the maids to serve breakfast for Quinn.

"Quinn, I know that you hate wearing hand-me-downs, but the engagement party is going to start very soon. Do you even have anything to wear?"

Maurice hadn't given a single penny to Quinn or Lisa for the past few years. Araminta could tell from Quinn's ragged clothes that she wouldn't be able to afford a gown.

"I think the clothes I'm wearing are extremely appropriate for the occasion. I'm going to be attending a funeral later anyway. It's not my fault you guys chose an unlucky day for the engagement party!"

"I dare you to wear these clothes to the party!" Maurice glowered.

"Ah, then what should I do? I hate wearing hand-me-downs. Also, my precious, precious father, have you forgotten that you never gave Mom and me a single penny after you banished us to Mostovia?"

Maurice handed Quinn a black card, saying, "Whatever. Go and pick out a gown for yourself. Don't embarrass the family in front of the others later."

After all, the Jowells were known as a prominent and rich family in Jipsfort. Maurice didn't want Quinn to disgrace them.

He would first trick her into signing over her company shares to them. Then, he would just throw her back to the borderlands to fend for herself.

Quinn took the black card from Maurice and chuckled coldly. "By the way, dearest daddy, all the money you've been spending on your mistress and bastard daughter rightfully belongs to my mom.

"We're going to need to have a little chat later when we have the time. I will make sure that you return every single penny."

Quinn didn't even spare Maurice another glance as she turned and went to have her breakfast.

As Quinn finished eating, she got a call from Nadia. Then, she went back upstairs to clean up before preparing to leave the villa.

Maurice couldn't stand Quinn's haughty attitude anymore. He grabbed the ashtray on the coffee table and flung it straight at the back of Quinn's head.

Araminta couldn't help feeling delighted when she saw what was happening.

Quinn was just like Lisa—bitchy and annoying. They always behaved as if they were better than others.

So what if Lisa had been the heiress of the Gatrell family? They had still managed to destroy her.

It was only a matter of time before Quinn ended up exactly like Lisa had—regarded as a crazy lunatic by everyone and banished to the merciless borderlands for the rest of her life.

However, it was as if Quinn had eyes at the back of her head. Just as everyone was waiting for her blood to spill, she swung around and landed a hard kick at the ashtray flying toward her head.

She had kicked the ashtray so powerfully that it flew back in the opposite direction and struck Maurice's nose at full force.

Maurice held his hand to his nose at once. "Quinn Jowell!" Before he could start cursing at her, his nose began to bleed.

Quinn regarded him with cold eyes. "Maurice Jowell, I didn't know that your hobbies included attacking people from the back on top of living off your wife's riches. I really don't know why Mom ever fell in love with you in the past!"

She didn't even bother checking on him and left after she was done speaking.

Jowell Villa erupted in chaos. Nadia's sports car was waiting outside the villa. Even she could hear Maurice's anguished yells from outside.

"What did you do?" Nadia asked in excitement.

"Nothing much. Let's go." Quinn felt a little better as she remembered Maurice's blood-soaked face.

Nadia then drove Quinn to her fashion studio. "I've prepared the perfect outfit for your engagement party mission today."

Nadia had personally designed a beautiful red gown with an open back for Quinn. She hadn't let anyone else touch it.

"Wow! It's stunning," Quinn said, giving Nadia a thumbs-up. Nadia was an extremely gifted fashion designer, after all.

"Let's crash the party tonight!" Nadia couldn't wait to see the disgusted look on Kimberly's face later.

"We've still got time."

Quinn took her phone out of her pocket and made a call to the nursing home Lisa was in. After hanging up, she seemed to drift off in a daze.

Nadia hurried over and pulled Quinn into a hug when she saw her friend like that. "Quinny, I believe that your mom will recover soon."

Quinn nodded. "You're right. My mom will recover soon."

The more Quinn thought about Lisa's plight, the more determined she was to destroy everything.
