Chapter 3

There was an ugly look on Shelly's face. She had never thought that Quinn, who used to let everyone walk all over her, would turn out to be such a dangerous character.

"I'm sorry."

Shelly had to uphold the Pattersons' reputation. So, she could only apologize like she had been told to, albeit begrudgingly.

"I can't hear you."

"You—"

No one in Jipsfort had ever dared to treat Shelly like this. Her eyes turned red with anger. There were plenty of people watching from the sidelines, yet no one stepped out to defend her.

"I'm sorry. I was wrong."

"Ms. Xandor, remember to treat me with respect the next time you see me. Otherwise, you'll only have yourself to blame when you face the consequences."

Shelly was seething. How dared this lowly bitch threaten her like this?

Still, she knew that Quinn wasn't going to be able to stay haughty for long. She was going to learn what it meant to offend the daughter of the Xandor family!

Quinn took her suitcase and went to the T2 exit. A while later, she caught sight of her best friend, Nadia Sullivan, waiting for her.

As soon as Nadia caught sight of Quinn, she rushed over and gave Quinn a big hug.

"Quinny! You're finally back!" she exclaimed. "By the way, you know that the fuckers are getting engaged tomorrow, right? You're not here to steal the groom away from her, are you?"

"You've got some wild imagination there. I'm just here to take back what's rightfully mine," Quinn said lightly.

Nadia circled her arm around Quinn's waist as they walked out to the spot where she had parked her car. Then, she popped open the trunk and put Quinn's suitcase in.

Meanwhile, Quinn went over to the front passenger seat and got into the car. Once Nadia was done putting away Quinn's suitcase, she got into the driver's seat.

"Do you want to spend the night at my place?" Nadia asked. "I missed you so much!"

"Not today. Head over to Jowell Villa instead."

"Araminta and Kimberly are living there now. Are you sure you want to go there?" Nadia asked in concern.

"I'm very sure. Let's go! You don't have to worry about me. The people who should worry about themselves are the ones who've wronged me and my mom."

Before Quinn had even reached Jowell Villa, Kimberly received a call from Shelly. After learning that Quinn had chosen to return that day, Kimberly couldn't help but frown deeply.

"What's wrong?" Araminta asked when she saw the frown on Kimberly's face.

"Quinn's back," Kimberly answered as she handed her phone to the maid beside her.

"What? Why would she come back at this time? But then again, it's time for her to hand over those company shares she has," Araminta said, her eyes glimmering wickedly.

"That's right. We'll make sure she stays in the depths of hell this time," Kimberly replied coldly. She took off the gown she was wearing and went looking for Maurice.

When Maurice heard that Quinn had dared to lay a finger on Shelly, he flew into a terrible temper.

"I'll tie her up and throw her to the Xandors to beg Ms. Xandor for forgiveness myself."

"But Dad, Mr. and Mrs. Xandor are fuming. I'm worried that this will drive a wedge between our families," Kimberly said.

"Don't worry. Simon will take your side since he's so in love with you. Also, this is all Quinn's fault. It's got nothing to do with you."

Just then, they heard a loud revving sound coming from outside the villa.

A short while later, Quinn appeared, dressed in a black shirt and a pair of black pants. She pulled her suitcase behind her.

"Oh, you're all here." Quinn wheeled her suitcase into the living room and sat down on the couch.

Maurice was also seated on the couch, while Araminta and Kimberly stood on either side of him.

Seeing that Quinn was acting all haughty with them, Maurice flew into another temper. "Who told you to come back? You shameless bitch, how dare you return? Quinn Jowell, you—"

"Shut up!"

Maurice wasn't done shouting when Quinn interrupted him. "You're the one shameless enough to bring home a mistress and bastard daughter to live with you.

"Compared to what you've done, my actions aren't even worth mentioning." Quinn then casually glanced at Araminta and Kimberly.

"I see that you haven't learned your lesson yet. Go back to the borderlands where you belong! Don't embarrass yourself here anymore!"

Quinn looked a lot like Lisa. Whenever Maurice looked at Quinn, he would be instantly reminded of Lisa, that filthy, disgusting bitch.

The Xandors were very fond of Kimberly. She was going to get engaged to the heir to the Xandor family, Simon Xandor, the next day, and Maurice couldn't afford to let any hiccups happen along the way.

"Go back? I'm not going back. Why don't you fuck off somewhere else instead?" Quinn's eyes were sharp and stern. The more she looked at the Jowells' angry faces, the more bloodthirsty she felt.

"You—"

Maurice was so mad that he started shaking. "Gerald, throw out all of her things at once!"

Gerald Webster, the butler, immediately came over to take Quinn's suitcase.

"I dare you to lay a finger on it," Quinn said in an icy tone.

"Ms. Quinn Jowell, please don't make this hard for me," Gerald said. Maurice was the one paying his salary, after all.

Quinn remained in her seat, her eyes filled with disdain and mockery. "Oh, so you do know that I'm a Jowell as well. I thought maybe you had already forgotten that I'm the rightful heiress of this family!"

Who the fuck did Maurice think he was? Had it not been for Lisa's wealth, he would have been nothing but a lowly commoner from a run-down village!

When Maurice heard Quinn, his anger grew tenfold. It was true that he had married into a rich family and gotten powerful because of that. However, he refused to let anyone acknowledge it.

"Throw her things out!"

Naturally, Gerald would take orders from Maurice rather than Quinn. He immediately went over and grabbed Quinn's suitcase.

Quinn walked over to him and kicked him squarely in the chest, sending him sprawling onto the floor.

"Ms. Quinn! How could you treat me like this? I've been with this family for more than 20 years. I've looked after you since you were a baby!

"Mr. Jowell, you need to do something about this! I've been nothing but faithful and loyal to the Jowells since I started working here. I'm an old man now, so why am I treated like this? Maybe I should just die instead!"

"Quinn Jowell, apologize to Gerald this instant!" Maurice roared.

"Apologize? Why should I? Gerald, if I recall correctly, you were my mom's butler and followed her to this house. After not seeing her for five years, I see that you've already forgotten who you should remain loyal to!"

Lisa had been driven to insanity five years ago, and Gerald had been one of the main perpetrators back then.

"Ms. Quinn, I—"

Quinn walked over to Gerald and stomped heavily on his back.

"Ah!" Gerald had never thought that Quinn would act in such a deranged manner with so many witnesses around.

Quinn then crouched down before Gerald and said, "Oh, my bad, Gerald. I guess my eyesight's gone bad after living in the borderlands for five years."

As soon as she was done speaking, she kicked him harshly in the guts again before carrying her suitcase upstairs.

"By the way, I'm back for good this time. As for the engagement party tomorrow, of course I will be attending it as the rightful heiress of this family. You can all look forward to it!"

Quinn took her suitcase to her old room and saw that Kimberly had taken over the place.

She went out of her room, leaned against the railing, and ordered, "Gerald, throw out all this trash in my room!"

Gerald had just been kicked in the guts and didn't know what to do. So, he turned and looked at Maurice.

"What's the matter, Gerald? Have you gone deaf? Is your memory failing you? Are you that old that you can't understand what I'm saying?"

Maurice was about to fly into another rage, but Araminta held him back.

"It's just a room. There's no need to get mad over it. Gerald, go and pack up all of Kimberly's things from there," Araminta said with a kind, understanding smile on her face.

It was just as well that Quinn was back this time. Araminta wanted to get her hands on the company shares that were still under Quinn's name.

Quinn was just a brat trying to throw her weight around anyway. She was no match for Araminta.
