Chapter 5

Kimberly and Simon's engagement party was to be held at Lightcloud Hotel in Jipsfort. Nearly all of the rich and wealthy people in the city had been invited.

Meanwhile, the younger generation of the wealthy families started blowing up their group chat.

"I heard that Quinn Jowell's returned! It's been five years. I wonder how she's doing now. She used to be so untouchable."

"How do you think she's doing? It's terrible in the borderlands. But with Quinn's seductive looks, I'm sure she must have found some sugar daddy to protect her."

"I have a friend who visited the borderlands a while ago. They saw her doing the dirty with a 50-year-old man with their own eyes…"

"Remember how Quinn used to destroy any woman who dared to approach Simon? This is karma. Serves her right!"

"But have Quinn and Simon ever dated in the past?"

"No. I've never liked her in the first place." Simon, who had never replied to any of the messages in the group chat before, suddenly resurfaced.

When everyone saw that it was indeed Simon who had replied, they hurriedly took his side.

"Exactly! How could Simon ever date that bitch of a woman anyway?"

Simon sent a text, saying, "I've only been in love with one woman my whole life, and that's Kimberly."

Seeing that, everyone else in the group started singing praises about Simon and Kimberly being the perfect couple and saying that they had been born to be together.

"Happy now?" Simon asked, hugging Kimberly closer to him. "I've never liked Quinn. You know that, Kimberly."

Kimberly put her arms around Simon's neck and nuzzled against him. "I'm not doubting you, Simon. I'm just not very self-confident. It's just that I love you too much.

"Besides, you used to be so close to her in the past. Whoever gets together with a woman like her is fated to be doomed. They'll never know when they might get cheated on by her."

Simon had had a crush on Quinn before. However, he now considered it a dark period in his life. It was humiliating for him to even admit it now.

So what if Quinn was the most beautiful woman in the world? She had a shameless lunatic for a mother, and with genes like that, no one would ever dare to marry her!

"Alright, alright. The ceremony is about to start soon. Let's go and get ready for it," Simon said, pecking Kimberly on the lips before leaving.

Kimberly couldn't help but feel touched as she watched Simon's retreating figure.

Just as Simon left, Araminta entered the room.

"Mom, Quinn's not going to show up, is she?"

"Don't worry. She won't even be able to make it here. I heard that the Pattersons have also arrived. With them backing the Xandors up, Simon will only reach greater heights when he goes to Dudore next time. Make sure you grab hold of this opportunity."

The Jowell family was simply a stepping stone for the mother-and-daughter duo to get what they wanted.

"I know that, Mom." Kimberly had never liked Simon from the start. However, since Quinn had liked him so much, naturally, Kimberly had had to steal him away from her.

Quinn and Nadia donned their gowns and put on their makeup. Then, they started off toward Lightcloud Hotel.

However, they had only been on the road for a while before Quinn noticed something amiss.

Her foxy eyes narrowed dangerously as her lips curled up in a cold, wicked grin. "Stop by the roadside and switch seats with me. I'll take the wheel."

"What's wrong?"

Nadia didn't understand what was going on, but she still did as Quinn said.

She stopped the car by the roadside and unbuckled her seatbelt. Meanwhile, Quinn just jumped into the driver's seat from the front passenger seat.

As soon as Nadia got back in beside her, Quinn revved up the engine and drove off.

A few minutes later, the red sports car was surrounded by four other cars.

"Quinny, should we call the police?"

"There's no need for that. Grab onto your seat," Quinn replied before stepping on the gas.

Two of the cars ahead of them were trying to block their way, but Quinn floored the gas pedal and made it through the narrow gap between the two cars.

"Ahh!" Nadia couldn't help screaming when facing such a dangerous situation.

The four cars behind them refused to give up. One of the cars seemed like it was getting ready to ram into their red sports car from behind.

"Quinny, they're trying to kill you!"

Araminta and Kimberly were out of their minds!

"Close your eyes if you're scared," Quinn joked.

"I'm not scared since you're here with me."

Quin was a stunningly beautiful woman. However, when she took the wheel, she was a maniac on the road.

When she saw that one of the cars was trying to overtake them and force them to a halt, she stepped harder on the gas and crashed into that car, forcing it to swerve and crash into the divider.

The other three cars refused to let up and continued going after Quinn. Nonetheless, she didn't give them a chance.

None of the people in the remaining cars stood a chance against her driving skills. In just a matter of seconds, Quinn had reduced all three remaining cars to a pile of scrap metal against the divider.

After seeing the four badly damaged cars left in the dust, Quinn then placed a call and instructed the person on the other end of the line to grab the drivers and take them away.

In the presidential suite at Lightcloud Hotel, a man who was about six feet and two inches tall walked out of the bathroom.

His long legs were strong and muscular. A towel was wrapped around his waist, showing off a set of rock-hard eight packs on his abdomen. The left side of his chest was wrapped up in bandages, where his heart was supposed to be.

Xavier oozed class and sexual appeal from head to toe. A devilish smirk crept up his lips as he thought of the woman who had dared to stab him in the chest that night.

"You'll never escape me, you little fox."

Xavier felt his crotch tighten as he stared at the blood-soaked bandages around his chest. The pleasure and desire he had felt that night flooded his entire body once more.

The excruciating pain that had come right after was also a part of the unforgettable memories that Quinn had left behind in her wake.

He couldn't help but look forward to the next time they met again.

Xavier put on a suit and walked out of the room. His assistant, Lesley Howe, was waiting there for him.

"Mr. Patterson, the engagement party is about to start," Lesley said.

"Is she here?"

"She's here."

Xavier and Lesley then took the private elevator straight to the floor where the banquet hall was located. Xavier entered the hall and found a more secluded spot among the audience before taking a seat.

He had come to wait for Quinn.

He had only just sat down before he saw an eye-catching woman sauntering into the hall in her stilettos.

Xavier hadn't seen Quinn's face in the dark that night. However, he could tell immediately that this was the woman he had been looking for at first glance.

Quinn was dressed in a figure-hugging red gown that exposed much of her lovely, flawless back. The way the fabric fell around her body accentuated her curves.

It wasn't an extremely revealing gown. However, it certainly made her the center of attention. Many people who caught sight of her couldn't stop themselves from gulping.

When everyone in the hall saw that Quinn had really made it to the party, they fell into silence.

They had known that she was back. Yet, even though this was her first appearance in five years, she still managed to attract everyone's attention wherever she went.

Quinn's foxy eyes swept across the hall as the corners of her mouth lifted ever so slightly. She used to be known as the most beautiful woman in Jipsfort, after all.

When Kimberly saw Quinn, she could no longer keep the smile on her face, especially not when she caught Simon staring at Quinn.

Simon had told her many times that he had never liked Quinn. However, as soon as he caught sight of her, he seemed to have forgotten all about Kimberly.

"Oh my god. How did Quinn become so much prettier in the five years we didn't see her?"

"Exactly! Her body, her skin… Everything's perfect! No wonder she's known as the most beautiful woman ever!"

"I smell some upcoming drama. See that look in Simon's eyes? Nobody's going to believe him anymore if he says he felt nothing for her five years ago."

"No, look at Kimberly's face instead! Oh my god, I'm so glad I came today. I'm going to need some popcorn. Let's see if a cat fight's going to break out when they fight over Simon!"

Nadia relished the looks on Kimberly's and Simon's faces. Those two fuckers deserved it!

Quinn was also deeply satisfied with everyone's reaction to her. The whole purpose of her crashing the engagement party was to announce to everyone in Jipsfort that she was back, and with vengeance.

Quinn slowly made her way toward Simon and Kimberly.

"Oh, this is getting interesting. Is she going to steal the groom away?"

"Who do you think Simon's going to pick?"

"I'd definitely pick Quinn if I were him. Look at her gorgeous face and figure. She's just so stunning!"

However, before Quinn could get close to Simon or Kimberly, a tall, muscular man got in her way and stopped her.

A split second later, he took off his coat and placed it around Quinn's shoulders. Xavier wanted nothing more than to dig out the eyes of everyone who had openly ogled at Quinn's body just now.

"What's going on? Who's that man?"

"Is this a soap opera or something? Things are getting hot!"

Quinn stared at the man before her and frowned. He had a unique yet very familiar presence.

It was him! He was the man who had slept with her at Seduction a few days ago!

But… how was he still alive?
