The next day, Amanda woke up with a renewed strength. She vowed that nothing was going to spoil her day. Not Parker not Ian or his friends. As Amanda prepared for school that day, she made a promise to stand her ground no matter what happened.
Her phone gave a sharp beep, indicating she had a call. The caller ID showed that it was her mother calling."Hey mum." she beamed. She had missed her mum a lot and couldn't wait for the day she got back home from her trip. Ever since she left, she had been all alone in the house, lasting about without any one to talk to."Hey darling, how have you been?" her mum said from the other end."I'm just here mum. I miss you, when are you coming home." Amanda said."I'll be home sooner than you expect, don't worry. I'm sorry, this is taking so long to finish but don't worry, I'll be home soon", she said."Okay mum, I'll hold you by your words." she laughed."How is school? Any problems, do you need anything?"Amanda couldn't think of anything she needed except to get rid of all her bullies. She was very close to spilling everything to her mum but she held her tongue. It wasn't time, soon it would be."No... I'm fine mum, I don't need anything." Amanda said. There was a slight pause. Amanda could tell that her mom had a feeling that all was not well with her. "Am, what's the matter? Talk to me." her mum said, quietly."Seriously mum, nothing is wrong. I'm fine, I promise." she said."Okay, I'll hold you by your words." her mum laughed."Sure. I love you Mom." Amanda said."I love you too girl, be good okay"."I will. See ya" she said before cutting the phone. She couldn't have her mum worrying about her. Now was not the time to report the bullying, soon it would be and when she does, she'd make sure that Parker and every other bully goes down.******************
"I really do not understand why Mr Edmund would give us that homework when exams are almost here." Emily whined."Or should we go protest." Amanda said, jokingly."And have us expelled. No thank you, I want to finish highschool in peace." Leslie said, sipping her soda."I don't know girls but I have a feeling that the exams might be postponed." Emily said."Well, I don't know about that. I just want to finish without any problems, I'm tired of school."Amanda said."And I can't wait for prom night. I really want to see what we're all going to wear, I mean we should look our best. It's the last day of school after all." Emily said."I'm not so certain if I'll be attending." Leslie said."Don't you dare, even I would be attending." Amanda said."When it's time, I'm going to drag you away from your house and there's no stopping me." Emily said."Oh now I'm screwed." Leslie laughed."Make that two." Amanda laughed."How are your parents?" Emily said, completely out of the blue.Amanda remained quiet for a while. Her friends knew that her parents were absent most of the time but they didn't know that most of the time, they went on very long trips, sometimes a month or two."They're fine. They were around last week but they had to go back due to one thing or the other, I'm expecting them this week though." Amanda said, quietly.Leslie gave her hands a gentle squeeze and Arianna could tell that she knew what she was going through."It's alright Am. Remember we're here all you need to do is call us and we'll come running down. We can even sleep over whenever we want, we just don't want you to feel lonely." Leslie said."I'll be fine guys, seriously. You've done so much for me and sometimes I wonder how I deserve you guys. Thank you." Amanda smiled."Cut it out, it's fine. You're stuck with us." Emily said. After their lunch break, the girls headed back to class for their second lecture for the day. As they settled in, more students joined them but there seemed to be one person that was missing- Parker."It seems as if Parker is missing. I mean, I don't care but that's kind of strange." Emily said.
"Yeah, I noticed too. Maybe he caught the flu or something."Amanda said."That would be great. At least, one day free of trouble." Leslie said."You've forgotten Ian is still very much around and might I say is heading over here this very minute." Emily said.Leslie and Amanda whipped their heads towards the door and true to Emily's words, Ian and his cronies were heading their way."Hello Ian." Emily smiled sweetly.Amanda was not fooled by that smile. She knew that deep within her friend's smile, was a venom waiting to be unleashed on the hapless victim which in this case was Ian."Hey gorgeous." he cackled, totally fooled by her smile.
"Do you need anything?" Emily asked."Nothing pretty. You know, you're the only one I fancy from the rest of your dwib assed friends. You're smart, pretty you know what's going on." he said. His friends gave him slapping high fives, grinning like maniacs. Amanda and Leslie seemed to shrink in their seats at the verbal abuse Ian rained down on them."You know what Ian, I think you're the most stupid and idiotic person I've ever seen. It's no wonder you're at the very bottom of the class simply because you know nothing." Emily fired. She was in her element and there was no stopping her now. Ian was taken aback by her change of mood and for some minutes, he was speechless as he didn't know what to do or say."Now, take your measly self and your foolish friends and get lost." she said."I'll get you for this. You wait, I'll surely get you for this." he said, backing away. When they left, Amanda and Leslie burst out laughing. They held their sides as tears streamed down their eyes."Oh you got him real good Em. Did you see this face?" Amanda laughed."He's just an egotistical fool. I had to put him in his place." Emily laughed."Serves him right. Next time, he'll never come close to you." Leslie said."You know, he asked me on a date once but I refused and ever since then, he's been disturbing me. I totally forgot to tell you guys." Emily said."Talk about ewww, even Macy wouldn't even date him and that's saying something." Amanda said."He's just so stupid and weird most of the time no wonder he's at the bottom of the class." Leslie said."And to think that his parents are really well to do, he's a sorry case." Emily said.Just then, Parker walked into the class. As soon as he stepped in, the whole class drew silent. For one, Parker's face was bloody and his left eye seemed to close. His lip was cut and his school shirt was rumpled."What the hell happened to him?" Leslie whispered."I have no idea but it's really bad. He needs to go to the sick bay, there's blood dripping on his shirt." Emily said.Amanda stared at him and he heart broke. For someone who had shown her a lot of hatred, she didn't think he deserved this. She wasn't sure if she was the only one who noticed but Brandon had a look of pain in his eyes. As if sensing someone's gaze on him, Parker locked eyes with her and the two seemed to be holding a secret conversation. At that moment, Amanda felt like it was just her and him in the whole class. His eyes softened a bit but it disappeared as quickly as it came. The moment was broken by the teacher's arrival. Amanda cleared her throat, turning back to face the board. She had a tingling sensation in her feet, she couldn't explain it but it was certainly there."Good gracious. Parker, what happened to you?" The teacher asked.Parker rose to his feet, feeling list for some minutes. The whole started, seemingly transfixed by his looks."I got into an... accident." he finally said.Amanda knew instantly that it was a lie. There was more to what he was saying and the only way to find out what really happened was if the teacher interrogated him."Please go to the school clinic, you need to tend to those wounds. I'm sorry about your plight." The teacherteacher said.Slinging his bag, Parker walked out but not before glancing at Amanda who seemed to shrink in her seat as she tried to stay invisible. When he left, she got up fully, taking out her notes. She was certain now that her and Parker bheld a special connection. He felt something for her but she knew that there was still something holding him back. For the first time ever, Amanda's mind was totally away from the class. Her whole mind was fixed on him, wondering how he was doing.Amanda's mother came back late one night under a heavy downpour. As she stepped into the lobby, the rain got heavier drenching everything in its path. Not minding that she was wet, Amanda ran towards her mother, giving her a big hug."Mom!" She screamed."Hi baby, I've missed you." her mother said."Me too, even more." Amanda said. They made their way to the living room, Amanda was so glad her mother was here. "You know what darling, let me run upstairs then get out of my wet clothes then we'll talk. Is that okay?" her mother said."Sure Mom. And don't you worry, dinner is on me. Let me fix up something quickly." Amanda said making her way to the kitchen."Thanks honey." her mother said.Amanda was a good cook and she had no troubles preparing a delicious pot of spaghetti. Within thirty minutes, the food was ready just as her mother came downstairs."Something smells delicious." her mother hummed."Spaghetti mom, your favorite. Shall I serve?" Amanda smiled."Absolutely! Lord knows I'
In all of her 17 years of existence, Amanda had never felt this sad and dejected. The news of Leslie's mum's death hit them hard. They were currently in her house, trying to console her which proved to be a difficult task considering the circumstances surrounding her death. It had been a secret even for Emily and Amanda as none of them knew that Leslie's mother had been battling with breast cancer all her life. Leslie hid it so well that none of them knew anything not until she died."It's okay Les, please. She wouldn't want to see you like this." Amanda said."I don't understand, she was fine about a week ago. Then all of a sudden, she slumpe right in my arms. I had to dial 911, before calling my dad who was frantic the whole journey home. I'm so confused right now." Leslie sobbed.Emily and Amanda comforted her as best as they could but Leslie was inconsolable as she sobbed harder. About an hour later, her father walked in wearing a grim expression. The girls could tell that he was t
At the close of school, Emily and Amanda made their way to Leslie's locker. They needed to pack her things since they didn't know the time she'd be coming back. They had already gotten the permission from the principal before doing this lest they'd be in trouble for raiding another student's locker. When they were done, they left the school grounds which were already desolate and lonely. The only students who seemed to be within school were those taking extra lessons or those who served punishments for one crime or the other. "Em, could you please take Leslie's bag to her. I just remembered, I won't be going home directly. I need to pick up something from the mart first." Amanda said "Sure, don't be long. I'll be at Leslie's." Emily said."Okay, see you later".Amanda made her way out of the school, hailing a cab that was passing by. The cab was occupied as it simply drove away. Amanda decided to ditch getting a ride and simply walked the short distance to the Mart. A few meters awa
In Leslie's house, Amanda recounted all that had happened to her friends. Leslie was getting much better as she tried to get over her mother's death. "I told you that boy was a total douchebag. He's deranged and clearly needs to get his head checked." Emily said."I agree. Why would someone switch characters so easily, it seems as if he's possessed." Leslie said."It baffles me too. One minute he's caring the next he's a beast." Amanda said."Anyway, away from Parker. Did you know Michael approached me today." Emily said."Wait what? Michael, the school's football captain?" Amanda said."The one and only." Emily said."Did he confess to writing those letters?" Leslie said, eagerly."He didn't say that but he did ask me on a date." Emily said.Amanda screeched while Leslie clapped her hands. They were both happy for their friend who until before now had refused the many advances sent her way."I hope you said yes?" Amanda said."I did. But guys, I'm not sure about Michael. I don't know
During lunch time, the whole school was agog over Parker's arrest. Newspaper clippings perpetrated by some of the school's miscreants filled the hallway, the locker rooms and even the bathrooms. The clippings had Parker's picture on it, calling him all sort of names. For a moment, Amanda felt bad for him. Nobody deserved this but if he was found guilty, he deserved everything he got."If you ask my human side, I feel bad for Parker." Emily said."And your inhumane side says what?" Amanda chuckled."Well, not so much pity there." she said."It's just so weird. Someone who just came to the school and now, he's being suspected for murder. I wonder how his parents would feel especially his mum." Amanda said."Away from that. Leslie called yesterday, she'll be resuming school the following week. At least, it's over a month since her mother's death. She said she's ready to resume." Emily sighed."Okay. We'll just be here to give her all the support she needs." Amanda said."Yeah"."That rem
Parker's POV Pain. That was the first thing I felt as soon as I woke up that morning. My soft king-sized bed did little or nothing to ease the many aches I was having all over my body. The ache was due to the fact that I had gotten into a fight again, the third within the week and had to sleep in the police cell uncomfortable bed till my mom came to bail me out. I couldn't help it, it was all a part of me. I couldn't stand and watch people throw insults at my family just because we were victims of circumstance. What befell us wasn't our fault. My dad just needed something, anything else that could better our lives. I couldn't and wouldn't blame him for that because he never knew we would get swindled. Even though we lost everything back in the states, we were not deterred because if there was one thing we had, it was hope. Hope that everything will get better and hope that one day, we would recover all we'd lost. I blinked slowly, trying to get my eyes used to the early morning s
The next morning, the school was restless. As Amanda walked through the halls, she had no idea why this was so. She made her way to the locker room, depositing her bag and books before making her way to her first class. On her way, she met Emily who was to attend another class. "What's happening?" Amanda asked."You haven't heard. Parker's been released, he's at the principal's office. Apparently, the gist is that the real murderer was caught yesterday while trying to escape the city. Parker's off the hook." Emily said."That's good. At least, we're not going to school with a murderer." Amanda said."Honestly. I have to run now babe, I'm running late. See you and oh, Leslie's coming back tomorrow.""Yeah, she called me yesterday. See ya." Amanda said.On getting to class, Parker was already seated in his usual seat at the back of the class. Ian and his friends crowded round him, no doubt trying to scoop for gist. Amanda settled in her chair and soon, a shadow fell over her. Looking
Amanda's POVSchool that day went by in a blur. The only thing that seemed interesting was the school's debate preparation I was currently handling. I was going to be the lead speaker and to say I was nervous would be an understatement, I was downright jittery.Of course, I'd already spoken in some debate shows in the past but this is the largest because several schools across the state would be converging in our grand hall. The debate would be holding the following week and preparations were already in top gear."Babe, cut it out. You're feeling nervous." Emily chuckled. The girls were currently at lunch break, discussing about the debate. "Can you blame be Em? This is by far going to be the biggest I've ever participated in." I smiled"But you'll do great. I'm sure about that." Leslie giggled."Les, how's your dad doing?" Emily asked.Ever since her mother's death, Leslie's father had been trying to hold on to the last remnant of sanity he had. Even a blind man could see how much t
''Thank you.'' Parker said.Amanda who had been in the middle of waking up and sleeping yawned as she opened her eyes. She had just had the best sex ever and she knew that in time to come, she would never forget any of this. Parker made her feel like a woman, a woman who was dignified and not like those other women men used, stories she had heard from her friends.''For what?'' Amanda asked.''For starters, for doing this with me. I know you can easily get your pick from all the numerous men out there but you chose me. That means something to me.'' Parker smiled. He moved closer to her, taking her warm hands in his. He couldn't quite believe he had a beautiful woman in his bed. It all seemed like a dream but Parker knew it was no dream, it was real. As real as it could get.''You don't have to thank me. I love to be with you just as you are to me so no need to thank me. All we have to figure out now is how to manage this without letting anyone else know about it.'' Amanda said.Parker
"How do you feel baby?"Amanda asked. It's been a few days since Parker was attacked and to say he made a speedy recovery would be an understatement, it was amazing. At the beginning, when it first happened, Amanda had her doubts whether he would recover but at the end, he not only surprised her but everyone who knew.Jamie and Amanda both knew that it was his strength that saved him but at the same time, Parker was so strong on his own that nothing could actually hurt him."I'm okay baby, you don't need to worry about me. I told you to stop asking about me, I'm more concerned about you. Tell me darling, how do you feel?" Parker asked. That was just one thing about him. Even though he was in pains, he would still make sure she was alright. That was the kind of man she loved and Amanda was quite glad she got him."Asides being scared that you might not make it, I'm okay over all." She smiled.Parker leaned closer to her, giving her a warm kiss on her lips. This was the best moment for t
‘’The Dremis’s have sought for outside help.’’ Aliyah began. If Lucas was surprised to hear this, he hid it well. For a group not so grounded as the Dremis’s, he had a feeling that they might likely have sought outside help. Now, it was happening and he didn’t know what to make of it. ‘’Wow! Really, wow!’’ Lucas said.‘’I know, that was my initial expression when he told me this.’’ Aliyah said. With those words, she had committed herself and she knew it was best for her to tell him everything at that moment because he would never stop until he found out what she really meant by those words.‘’Diabla, what do you mean?’’ Lucas asked.Aliyah sighed, taking a deep breath. She didn’t want to be seen as a traitor. Even though she was the head and could do as she pleases, her loyalty still remained with her group and she would rather die than compromise that.‘’I lied when i told you i went to see the accident victim.’’ Aliyah said.‘’I knew you were lying but I just didn’t know where you
Lucas was getting ready to leave his office when he received a call from Aliyah. He had been expecting her call and he was quite glad when he saw her name flash on his screen. Ever since his first kidnap, he had also been very careful on how he moved about. He didn't want to do anything that would cause her pain or put himself in a position that wasn't good at all. He needed to be careful now because a baby, his child, was also in the picture.Lucassmiled broadly and picked it up. He heared gushes from her as she thanks him for the dress. He knew she was going to do this but still, he was surprised at how enthusiastic she sounded. This just told him that she actually appreciated the gift and within him, he planned to give her more gifts as the day went by.''Hey baby, I see you like your new dress.'' he smiled.''Aliyah, I not only like it, I love it. Thank you so much.'' Aliyah gushed. She had always been a sucker for pretty dresses and anytime anyone gifted her one, she never faile
"Oh my gosh! No no no. It's not going through." Aliyah said. She had been trying to mind link Lucas ever since but the damn server was being distrusted by something or someone. It was very frustrating to say the least."Oh my gosh! What's going on? Where's Lucas?" Aliyah asked, pacing about. She gripped her phone in her hands, pacing about with tears streaming down her eyes. If anything were to ever happen to Lucas, Aliyah knew she'd never forgive herself nor him because she had warned him not to go anywhere but his stubbornness and insistence to go had caused him a whole lot."What's happening?" She asked.Patrick rushed in at that moment, panthing in her normal form. Aliyah had called her when she couldn't get a hold of Lucas because in that moment, she knew it was only Patrick that could calm her down."You still haven't gotten a hold of him?" Patrick asked, morphing back to her normal form."No and the worst part of it all is that the mind link seems to be scrambled somehow." Aliy
"Babe, I need to get to another town this evening. I need to pick up something from my office there." Lucas said. It was early in the morning, with the birds singing in the air and the morning animals chirping in the forests round about them. It was also the day of the anniversary, the day when both Aliyah and Lucas would be in their strongest form. "You realize what day it is today right?" Aliyah asked. Lucas knew but still, he knew he had to take the trip. It was very important not only to him but to the entire company and he wouldn't trade it for anything else. "This is important to me Aliyah, you've got to understand." He said Aliyah didn't know what was more important than staying home when he clearly knew that going out on a anniversary day was not a good decision. "Can't it wait till the following day?" Aliyah asked. "It honestly can't. If I could, I wouldn't bother going today." Lucas said. Aliyah thought about it and judging from the look in his eyes, she knew it had
LucasI couldn't lie to myself that what Slyvia said hurt me a whole lot. The bite and sting in her voice hurt me a lot but the last thing I would do was to see how much she hurt me. I would rather eat sand than allow her to see that she actually got to me.''Bitch!'' I hissed. Her disgusting attitude and behavior was going to get her into trouble one day and I would be there to watch her downfall and also laugh at her.I made my way back to my room. There were many things I needed to do and the earlier I got on with it, the better for me. I didn't have time to worry about someone like her when there were other things I could worry about.Slyvia was of no importance to me and in that moment, I knew I needed to put her in her place. That was the best thing I could do to someone like her.''So… how did it go?'' a voice said.I didn't need to look back to know that it was Patrick who spoke. He was very inquisitive as well as nosey and would always want to know everything that was going o
"Parker, let's go make some cookies." Amanda said. She was in the mood to eat and actually make some of the delicious cookies with Parker. With him, she always felt safe, like nothing could actually go wrong which was her own safe space."Now?" He asked."Yes, or don't you?" Amanda asked. Not that she'd be angry about that but she just knew that the next time she decided to make it, she wouldn't have the energy to."I'm game." Parker smiled.Together, they made their way towards the kitchen, holding hands like lovestruck teenagers. Sometimes, they couldn't get a hold of themselves which at times was very annoying especially to Jamie who couldn't stand them at all."If Jamie was here, you know he'd probably shout at us for being so cringy." Amanda laughed."Yeah... Yeah, I told the guy to get a girlfriend but he feels so reluctant about it. I'll probably talk to him about it again." Parker said."Is he scared of commitments?" Amanda asked. That was the only thing that came to her mind
"Yo! Parker, I have to get out for a while." Jamie said. His plan was to go to the brotherhood's office to tell them that he would be leaving soon. It hurt him to leave but he had to get back to his mother and also finish up his school."Okay, stay safe bro." Parker said from the inner room.He was helping Amanda with some of her homework which some of her friends had mailed to her. It was off to say the least because it was usually the other way around with her teaching him. But if there was one thing Parker was good at, it was English literature. When it came to that, he was champion, nobody could beat him in that and it was no wonder he aced all his papers in that aspect."Will do." Jamie said.He left the house, shutting the door firmly. Ever since Amanda was attacked in school by that crazy monster, she'd been taking home lessons which was safer and both Parker and her uncle could keep an eye on her.Her uncle who had planned to leave before might not be leaving in a long time. A
