(Sequel of "Stolen Crown") After almost six years of staying in Realgar Kingdom, Emery Trigon was summoned by the Arcana headmaster to return to the Kingdom of Silex due to an emergency. She was yet again set to a more dangerous mission in order to find out who had been on a killing spree in their kingdom and even attacked the Arcana's headquarters. This led Emery to not only cross path again with her ex-husband, King Lawson, but she would find herself getting involved with the tyrant conqueror and ruler of an empire, Emperor Claus Weston. And what only started to be a mission of gathering intel suddenly turned into a quest of claiming the crown of an empress.

Chapter 1

In a tavern usually filled with a bustling crowd even before night falls in the Kingdom of Realgar, a hidden training ground lies beneath it that was only known by a few. With no one’s knowledge, Emery Trigon, a trained assassin under the Arcana Organization, had been training 10 girls for five years now to become assassins fit to be sent to several missions for the sake of the people and the kingdom. “Huddle up!” Emery announced and within a few seconds, the girls lined up in front of her, sweating and trying to catch their breath after another rigorous day of training. “Since all of you have been doing good in gathering intel, I decided to level up your missions. This time, I will have you work together to get something from the prime minister’s house.” The girls immediately whispered to each other out of surprise because if they failed from that mission, they could possibly be accused of treason. And treason would only mean one thing… death. Before Emery could explain further d

Chapter 2

“We’re here,” Emery announced as they stood before the humongous entrance of the third gate surrounding the capital of Silex Kingdom. She must admit that after almost six years, being here alone made her feel like she traveled back in time. The only difference was that the security around the vicinity was tighter than before and there were guards by the gate checking the identities of those who were passing through.“Your badges?” the guard asked in order to confirm that the newcomers were not people who would cause trouble.Emery was the first one to show her fake badge proving to them that she was a mere merchant together with some of her assistants. Much to her relief, they were not suspected at all, however, just when they were about to pass through the gate, one of the guards stopped them.“You…” He pointed at Emery with narrowed eyes. “Show us your face before you could head inside.”The ten girls looked at their meister and waited for her to remove her mask since she had been

Headmaster Harriet paused for a while as she stared at the ceiling. She simply needed some time to collect herself before speaking another word.“Just like what the woman said, the killers wore black capes and hid their faces behind black masks. It’s already obvious given that they got to beat us all but they are highly trained individuals. They are on another level… I must admit that. Plus, they show no mercy at all,” she added. “I do not exactly know what they want from us since they just raided our headquarters and asked for nothing.”“Could they have probably attacked us due to some old grudge? Or could they probably know about the organization’s existence?” Emery asked. The headmaster shook her head.“I do not know but they could be possibilities, but the killings are still rampant so it must be something more serious than a simple grudge.”As the two continued to speak, Secora came in with a tray of food and water. Emery, then, left and went out to help the others instead of eat

Emery managed to leave without catching unnecessary attention. Breathing with relief, she decided to head to the house of the nearest noble lady on the list that Secora gave. It was in the second circle of the capital so she walked double time. The noble lady was the first child of one of the kingdom’s current ministers. According to Secora, this lady would often visit the palace for some visitations to her father who often worked overtime.   If the attackers were indeed after her, then it would probably be for the reason of getting her to talk or she could be used as a hostage to make the minister spill confidential information. Just when she was about to make a turn, she saw the lady leaving the house with some maidservants and a pair of bodyguards. Emery followed them to one of the popular clothing shops in the area and closely monitored her.

The king wanted her to stay longer and speak with her. And not to mention, she seemed to be looking into something… he thought that they could probably work together and he could use that as an excuse to be with her.   “If you are here to look into the murders going on, then why don’t we exchange information?” he offered.   It was a tempting offer for Emery, especially that she did not have much of a solid lead yet, but she was unsure if it was a good idea to be involved with him again.   “Don’t worry, After this, I won’t bother you anymore,” he added.   The king seemed to be sincere and this was a win-win situation for the both of them. Emery thought of the condition that the Arcana was in and somehow, it pushed he

“If you think those sweet gestures would make me take you back, you are definitely wrong,” EMery mumbled to herself as she headed to the nearest shop selling different kinds of buttons.   She was warmly welcomed by the owner so she immediately showed her the silver button.   “Wow, this is of an excellent quality, dear,” the owner commented as she looked at it closely. “But my apologies, I do not sell these buttons. Maybe the  other shops do. Here is the address of a friend of mine. She might have some of this.”   Emery thanked her and headed to the next store, however, the result was the same. She went from one shop to another until the sun was close to setting in the west already. But much to her disappointment, none of the shops knew about the button and they all had

Chapter 7

When the ship finally docked, Emery got off the ship and stood at the side for quite some time. It was simply hard to process and overwhelming that she had finally arrived at the land of the known tyrant conqueror, Varmore Empire. As her eyes wandered, the first thing she immediately noticed was the clothing of the people. It was totally different. Back in Silex Kingdom where she grew up, even in Realgar, women wore dresses with long sleeves but in this empire, women showed off their bare arms. It was a shock for her even though she already expected differences. But what was even harder to look at were the several couples openly showing intimacy in public but the others seemed to show no care at all as if it was a normal occurrence.  “A busy day here, aye,” the owner of the ship commented upon spotting Emery on the s

After a while, the knights started stating their orders and when it was Castor’s turn, he stared at Emery for a few seconds. He stood from his seat, held her hand, and kissed the back of it while looking right into her dark eyes that seemed to pull him into oblivion. “I still do not have the privilege to gaze upon the beauty you hide but may I have the honor to know your name, young miss?” he asked. The other knights teased the two but Emery simply bowed apologetically while looking at him with hesitation. She did not want to embarrass him in front of his colleagues and, not to mention, she was receiving a deadly glare from Basil so she had to come up with something quick. “I… I am still on duty so if you wish to know my name, speak to me durin

“My apologies. Because of me, you had to face the anger of the other ladies even if you were not at fault in any way. I will make sure that no one will bother you again because of this issue,” Castor said. “Thank you but it would be more proper to not approach me anymore, Sir Castor. Who knows? Tomorrow’s rumor might become worse, saying that a married woman is still flirting with a knight. That will not only reflect bad on you but it will further damage my reputation. Please understand.” She turned her back on him, only to stop when the silver button crossed her mind. Since she heard Castor and the other knights talking about the emperor looking for her, she suspected that they could be involved in the matter. Hence, she turned on her heels and faced him again.

Chapter 10

“Your Imperial Highness, Lady Serena wishes to see you at the moment. She is currently waiting in the Eldford Hall,” one of the emperor’s maidservants said as she followed him out of the Euthoria mansion. “Tell her that I have some important matters to take care of. If she wishes, I can meet her the day after tomorrow,” Emperor Claus stated before dismissing her. Wearing his casual clothes over a hooded cape, he entered the carriage, only to receive a rather disappointed look from Castor, who was accompanying him in his rendezvous that night. “What?” he asked. “So going to the brothel house is such an important matter that you are postponing another meeting with your e
