Chapter 12

Stephanie was left at the spot frozen. She just watched Danreb and Elarie disappear from her sight. The smug look on Elarie’s face replayed in her head. And each second that she thought about it only fuelled her anger for her. Her chest tightened. Unconsciously, she clenched her fist at her sides.

How dare Elarie speak to her like that?

In front of Danreb Scott no less. She had humiliated her.

When Stephanie finally regained her composure, her jaw clenched in fury. She gritted her teeth, and she almost couldn’t catch her breath. “She’ll pay for this,” she muttered under her breath. “I’ll make sure of it.”

Without wasting another moment, Stephanie fished her phone out of her designer handbag and dialed a number. After a few rings, the familiar voice of her mother, Gladys, came through the line.

“Stephanie?” Gladys answered. “What is it, darling?”

“Mom,” Stephanie hissed, struggling to keep her voice calm. “I have something important to tell you. It’s about Elarie.”
