*Edited This chapter contains use of strong language and reference through out. Maxwell's POV Sweat trickled down his back as he punched aggressively on the small suspended punching bag. 'Stay out of this one.' Petra's voice resounded in his ears. 'You're emotionally attached.' 'You're jittery and frantic.' 'It will cloud your judgement.' Maxwell let out a loud growl as he delivered on last blow causing the teardrop to cut open and drop from the chain. He threw his gloves across the room in anger, and kicked the fallen bag to where the other torn three were. He took a quick swing of water, raising tank top to clean the sweat that trickling down his chin, into his eyes and mouth before he replaced the bag and resumed, punching furiously, like an automated machine. It had been five days and he had heard a total of nothing. Steve was tip toeing around him, more like running away, leaving his frail wife, Cece to deal with his grumpy angry self. He couldn't really do anything
*Edited This chapter contains strong language and reference through out. Maxwell's POV Steve paused, shoulder slouched and sighed. "I understand you, I really do, so you need to understand that I'm here to help." "Right, right, I know." Max grabbed two new glass, nodding, he filled them with water. "So what did you want to ask me?.......because I seriously want you to leave." "Steve arched an eyebrow. "Seeing you here and knowing that I should be out there is infuriating and you need to go home and sleep for sixteen hours straight and then give your wife…………like a make up sex or something, the woman misses you and its sort of my fault." He added stretching out a glass to Steve. Steve flushed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Okay?." Max asked. "Fine………you'd think she's be okay with it after all these years, its my job." "And its her job to worry, its built into her man, you can't help it." Max said. "Now lets get this over with." "Alright, answer the first question, I know the
Hey everyone!, how are you all doing?. I want to start off by appreciating you all, I'm so grateful for the kind readers i've built here on goodnovel, grateful for all three thousand of you who decided to give this book a chance and have stuck with me since. Since the first day this book aired on this platform, a year ago, to now, i've evolved as a writer and the course of the book has changed quite a number of times over the months. I set out to entertain people with my writing, that has not changed, what has, however, is my style, the story telling, the story setting, the character developments and so on. I never intended for the book to be a hundred chapters long, believe me, so i realized it was dragging out, taking too long and i had to do something about it. My point is, this book has since, underwent, and still is undergoing massive changes, restructuring and editing. Not because the way it now is wrong, but there is room for improvement. I have since attended a formal writ
Hola again! How are you all doing?. As some already know, if you don't, well.......now you'll know, this book has / is going through massive editing. The book cover and title has changed, the story line has been tweaked ( i say tweaked, because the main characters are still the same but with minor personality changes and how the story unfolds has improved *in my opinion ) SO the first TEN chapter have been thoroughly edited. The chapters that follow are still of the previous version of the book. I didn't want to delete the entire book and replace it in one go, it wouldn't be unfair to all those that have spent coins to unlock. I do hope that this does not confuse you too much, i know its not convenient, so i try to post messages in the reviews section about the chapters that have been edited. If you were a previous reader and didn't know, kindly go back up and see the changes, i hope you love them!. I'll most probably keep coming here to edit this Author's note with almos
Heeeellooooooo!! What's up everyone?, how are we all doing?. There is actually no need for this update, if you have been following up on all the edits that has been happening, then you know what's up!. For those who don't know, a little introduction. This book was previously name Busted. Now its not. This book is under edit. So although i've left this two author notes before this, explaining, some new readers still don't know, which is fine. So i've added a small note to the end of the synopsis that the book is in edit. I try to post an announcement, (if you will), in the reviews section on the chapters that have been edited, but that's not very frequent. To identify, there is a new trend of chapter headings, that i know its obvious, but let me still point it out. The numbered chapters have been edited, the unumbered, have not. The chapter names are now a pair of two words only, unlike the previous unspecified one. I've also added an " * Edited " warning at the begin
Hey, hey! Happy halloween!. So as usual, there isn't a specific reason for this update, but i just think its due. If you're new, welcome.... this book is being edited. Live. That means, there are edited chapters and some arent. It wouldn't be so much trouble if the editing is just grammer........but when i say edit, i mean the story line is being edited too. As of when i'm writing this, forty-seven chapters have been edited. But the rest that follow aren't. For new readers, that can be confusing. How do you know which chapter are edited, you may ask?. So you'll know which chapter to read first...... Every edited chapter is numbered. So if you see a number in the chapter title, its edited and you can read. All edited chapters have an *Edited tag at the very top and some times a trigger warning, so once you see it, you know its edited. Edited chapters are all written in third person narrative with respect to prespective...........that means, in my narrative (past partcic
*Edited Breanna's POV "We were four girls, they took us that night in a huge van." Tiana spoke in the darkness. Breanna couldn't make out her face, but her voice was tight, like she was still crying. "Daisy and I were awake, she struggled to fight them, screaming all the way, till they decided to beat her to a pulp." She took another pause, breathing heavily as the memories came to her, Breanna assumed. Daisy, was not at all an easy person. She was one of the very few people that hated to breath in the same air that Breanna did. She almost wasn't sorry for her, until Tiana got into the details. "For the first few months, they only just left us to rot, this is the sixth basement I've lived in and the best so far, trust me." Her voice darkens. "This is deluxe treatment, so I think you're either a big deal or you are connected to one, cos you're apparently worth it." She swallowed, but Breanna was still hung up on her previous statement. "Daisy, as in Daisy- the wild witch?." She
*Edited Max's POV "They'll find her, don't worry." Martha said over the phone. Petra had called her after he barged into her office yet again. It was crazy how involved they were in his life. It made him realize how much of a fool he had been all these years, thinking that he was ever alone, they had always been there. His overbearing mother - Helen, his passionate sister - Martha, his intuitive friend - Petra. A friend indeed; she had proved herself, maybe because she also blamed herself for what happened with Sloane, because the crazed woman was her half-long-distance cousin. Sloane!. He gritted his teeth. It took everything in him not to throw her a punch that night. Not able believe she drugged him, after he allowed her in, trusted her, like a fool, again, as always was when it came to her. He had been clean for years, till that night, he wasn't really stoned or high but it made him drowsy, so when she started removing his clothes, he couldn't push her off, it didn't help tha
Trigger warning: This chapter contains stroing language and references Breanna's POVBreanna kicked the door close behind her, with a thundering heart. All her efforts to not be bothered by him came to no avail, she even made sure her hotel was far on the other side of town to his house. She refused to leave her hotel room unless it was absolutely necessary. The number of times she thought she had seen him in the last few days was disturbing. Every where she would turned to, someone was dressed similar, was as tall, had same tone of hair and the most annoyingly, his large black Escalade!. Everyone seemed to have one now.But it was inevitable, they still had things to work out, it was clear after their conversation that they needed to now more than ever.He was still under the impression that there was anything left between them. She had long moved on, sure she still had feelings for him, those feelings don't automatically disappear, but she had no intention of rekindling anything the
MAX'S POVThere were times when it'd cross his mind that she'd return and never want anything to do with him again in her life. That he came into her life to cause her more pain than she was already experiencing early on in life.Still, Maxwell didn't think it'd be as heart wrenching as it was hearing her loud silence. It's true what they say. You never know what you have till you've lost it. He thought to himself. And now he had lost a precious gem. Would he ever be able to move on from this lose this time around?.Amidst his deep depraving thoughts Breanna replied."When I left, it was too hard to maintain." She began in a dry, cracking voice after a prolonged silence. His eye brows creased together, trying to understand her words. But as she tried to speak again, more tears filled her eyes."My hair." She motioned clearing her throat. His eyes following her every movement. "So I cut it all off, and when it began to grow, I wanted it out of the way so it was just easier to just strai
MAX'S POVMax brought a peach up to his nose for a quick sniff before dropping it into his cart as he continued his walk down the isle. As promised Martha, he planned a small dinner for the family, Cece and Steve, Petra and her husband, for a simple dinner and maybe poker.Only one problem to hosting his family, cooking. He took a left turn remembering where the spice isle was, as he came into the opening, the smell of fresh basil, paprika and other spices he could not pronounce hit his nose. But that was barely the surprise, his eyes lifted up, following the shadow of the person at the other extreme end of the isle, he stopped dead in his tracks.Standing there at the other end was Breanna. Just as beautiful as she was last night in his dreams. Her melanin skin seemed to have gotten a tan, glowing under the supermarket led lights. Her slicked back in a low ponytail."Hi." She waved dropping a bottle of honey in her basket."Brie." He called out to be sure he wasn't seeing things. A fe
MAX'S POV"Thank you all for making it tonight!." Cece said through the microphone from the large podium as a loud cheer ensued with clapping. Maxwell looked around the large room, pleased at the turn out of the night. He certainly did not expect this many people for the award, then again, many people have contributed to the cause and he was proud to be a part and one of the founding members of it. After the kidnap and the whole drama, Maxwell finally realized something. That in every career he ever chose, one thing was prevalent, helping people. At first it began as an act of revenge against the people that killed his grand father, but then along the way he met amazing people, in amazing circumstances that helped shaped his life and shift his focus.Sure he could have realized these things without the deaths and immense pain and hurt that came with it, but he was grateful for it all. Not many people had the privilege of being as successful or comfortable as he was early in life. Plus
*Edited Breanna's POV "Go home Breanna!." Ada shouted, pulling the large clear bag from her hand to drop it by a pile of other identical bags in the warehouse. "Ada!." Breanna cried, staring at her now empty hands. "Don't give me that look, you need to go pack." "We still have to sort out a whole truck of gift bags for the volunteers, there is so much to do." Breanna moved past her quickly, grabbing a cardboard box with random things sticking out of it. "We've got this, you have a flight in six hours, Breanna." Ada dropped the Ipad in her hand on the table to pack her sultry ginger hair into a bun. "Me, Wendy, O, and the girls have got this, all you have to do is go collect more money to keep this going." She pointed round the huge space. Standing in the middle of a large mess of stuff tossed everywhere, Breanna heaved. After the just concluded Africa outreach, they were left with hundred and thousands of gift wrapping and souvenir hand-outs to the volunteers that helped from
Maxwell's POV Three years later. Maxwell dropped to a squat, breathing heavily as he stopped before the huge statue in the middle of Grand park. Sweat trickled down his chest, soaking through the spandex material of his shirt. Bear caught up with him barely a second later and he smiled, scratching the dog behind his ears as reward. He checked the watch on his hand to stop, the timer with a grin. Beating his own record the third time in a row again in the month. After catching his breath a second longer, he called for Bear and they began their run back to the gym. After everything went to ruin three years ago, he quit his job with the University and with the CIA. He took his time to himself and finally handled all his issues with anger and the hurt he had bottled up for years, this time he didn't spiral out of control. He didn't know much about Breanna's whereabouts but he knew she wasn't missing or in any danger, that much was good enough. A long work out and shower later, his pho
*Edited Breanna's POV A month later. ( Right after Don's arrest not after Ma's two months, if that makes sense. ) "Thank you so much Dean Hansen." Breanna smiled as she shook his hand. He gave her a curt nod once and returned her smile as she left his office. Kenzie caught up just her just as she exited the building, teary eyed. Without a word, she pulled her into a hug. Breanna laughed. "I'm going to miss you so much." "I'm not leaving the earth Kenzie." Kenzie was about to retort when the sound of Jessica honking her horn interrupted them. "That's my ride." Breanna said to her friend. They already had a girls night and said their goodbyes because Cece was travelling with her boyfriend. So naturally, Breanna didn't prepare for another emotional farewell. "Call me once your plane lands okay?." Kenzie said, releasing her from the hug. Breanna nodded. "I said I wasn't going to cry." Kenzie cursed, wiping the corner of her eyes with her fingers. "Kenzie…" Breanna hugged her aga
*Edited Maxwell's POV Maxwell took a much needed two months leave from the university, his bullet wounds almost turned lethal because he ignored it for too long. But between making sure Breanna was okay and all the court shindig, he barely had any time for himself. Breanna relatively stayed away from him, and he couldn't blame her. She didn't return his calls, and was never home or at work every time he went looking. Her friends also did a good job at hiding her. Petra decided to become professional for once in her life and threatened to get a restricting order on him if he dropped by the clinic again. Martha also said Petra refused tell her anything when she asked. And Jessica who would have been of help, quit her job once again and left Lake Side. He later found out Breanna dropped all her psychology courses weeks after being discharged from the hospital, the Dean had called to ask him why one of his most promising students decided to drop all her courses. He stuttered all throug
*Edited Maxwell's POV Maxwell jerked awake, a grunt leaving his dry chapped lips as pain shot through his sides. He heaved a sigh of relief as his eyes found Breanna asleep on the hospital bed. Breanna had been right about the Bee factory, her tip was enough for the police to track the phone's IP adddress. He was not supposed to be there, it went against every work ethic, but there was no option of not going. It was not possible. Steve had to stow him away in the van of the CIA officers convoy on the condition that he stayed in the car and not interfere because his dad had talked to the DO to make sure he stay at home. Tech guy Zayn, as they called him now, was quick to find the previous owners of the factory since it had been sold about ten times over the years. The previous owners give them the original blueprint of the bee factory and access to CCTV footage of the bee factory of cameras that were still working anyways, in under 30 minutes. Perks of working with the CIA and Loca
