Alex glanced at his watch for the nth time. The meeting was taking longer than he had expected. It had been over an hour and he wanted to leave already. He glanced At Patrick who had already noticed how restless he was. Alex brought out his phone and messaged Patrick.
Alex: [Can you round things up for me here? I need to be somewhere right now] Patrick: [But sir you have a lunch meeting after this meeting] Alex raised his eyes and glared at his secretary and Patrick immediately nodded and knew not to ask any more questions. “I need to leave Mr Charles. Mr secretary will continue from here” Alex said and shook hands with the investor, who didn't seem a bit annoyed that he was leaving. Alex took the car keys from Patrick and left a bit in a hurry. He sighed deeply as he started his car engine and drove the car out of the parking lot. He just wanted to check… he just wanted to know if she was okay… Alex wasn't sure how but he could only think of the park where they had sat together. He knew he might not see her there but it was worth trying… He stopped his car and decided to walk, but when he got to the park his eyes grew wide in surprise when he saw a familiar figure sitting on the bench with her eyes closed. She was here, sitting on the bench like she knew He was coming. He walked slowly and sat on the far end of the bench, his eyes on her. “Hi,” Alex said and watched as her eyes flew open and she turned to look at him. She looked surprised at first and then confusion mixed with it and the next thing he knew she was on her feet and walking away as fast as she could. He got Up and followed after her, as he was taken aback by her sudden action. “Please don't follow me” Alex heard her say and he was about to say something to her when she suddenly fell to the ground, shocking him… “Miss!” Alex immediately rushed to her side and tried to shake her awake but she wasn't responding. He picked her up immediately and rushed to his car… ______________ ______________ Juliet's light brown eyes slowly fluttered open…where was she…what had happened… her mind was foggy… Her eyesight slowly became clearer and she was met with a pair of green eyes staring back at her. The eyes were filled with concern and worry and he was saying something to her, but all she could think about was how handsome this person was… from his eyes to his nose…to his lips…to his chiselled jawline and cheekbones…his brown air… Was she dreaming? “Miss…miss are you alright…nurse…” Even his voice sounded… Her eyes immediately grew wide when she realized who he was and she tried to get up but she felt a pain in her head and something was on her hand… “Where am I…” she muttered as her other hand travelled to her head… “You are at the hospital…” the handsome man who had run away earlier said. Her memory finally returned to Her… “Careful” the man said and held her hand when she tried to get up, but she swatted his hand away… A nurse Came in a few seconds later… “You are awake, Miss Adams” Juliet slowly looked up at the nurse… How did the nurse know her name? The nurse helped with taking out the drip and checked her vitality and Juliet couldn't stop staring and wondering at the stranger… “You can leave now, but make sure you get a lot of rest,” The nurse said and made sure to smile at Alex before leaving the room… Alex handed her her bag when she was looking around for it and she glanced at him. “Why were you at the park?” She asked as she stood up. He handed her her jacket also and then waited till she was ready to leave. “I just came out on a walk and then you passed out” Alex lied, she glanced at him and remained silent for a few seconds. It didn't seem like she was buying his story, but it made sense and she had no idea if he was lying. He couldn't possibly tell her he had wanted to see her and coincidentally he had found her sitting on the park bench. Would he seem like a creep? “Thank you,” Juliet said and started to walk away but he immediately followed after her. “Let me drive you home” He offered but she immediately declined. “I can go home by myself. I'm grateful that you brought me here but I will be fine on my own” She lied. Alex didn't relent and continued to follow Her till she stopped in her tracks and glared at him a bit. “I don't think it's right for me to leave you on your own after what happened and if I meant any harm I wouldn't have brought you to the hospital” He made sense but still, she wasn't sure. Her feet still hurt and she had to walk a distance till she got to the bus stop. Maybe she would ask him to drop her off there and then hope this would be the last time she would see him again... , Juliet stared at this handsome man and sighed. She wanted to be alone and at the same time, he was just being nice by offering her a ride… “My car is over there” He added and she sighed again. She finally nodded and accepted his ride and they both walked to his car in silence. He opened the car door for her and all she could say was thank you. She ran her hand through her hair as she entered the car of the man she had run away from earlier. Why did she meet him again? She wasn't supposed to see him again after crying her eyes out last night. It was awkward and embarrassing and she had a feeling it was going to be a long ride..."I can go on my own from here you don't need to follow me” Juliet said and Alex shook his head. “They said you needed a lot of rest. I will drop you off at your house” He insisted and this made her sigh. Why was this man so persistent, it was getting on Her nerves. She glanced at him and it didn't look like he was going to stop the car...“Alright just drop me off at the park then, I can walk home from there” Julie wasn't sure if it was okay for him to know where she lived. He didn't seem like he would harm her. He even took her to the hospital when she had passed out. She was beyond Shocked when she opened her eyes and found him staring at her…“Since it's close to your place. Isn't it better if I drop you off then…” “Fine…whatever!” Julie finally agreed when she realized how persistent he was… she told him her address and they rode in silence, occasionally glancing at him… “I'm Alex,” He said out of the blue and she nodded. “I know your name and I gathered I haven't told you mine
Alex watched as she walked to her front door and he let out a sigh. She turned to look at his car and he smiled. She had that same curious look on her face as she entered her house… she was curious about who he was, but she didn't bother to ask even once…He was glad she was fine. He had been shocked when she passed out in front of him. He had also found out her name. Juliet, her name was Juliet…He started his car engine and drove off when his phone buzzed. “Where have you been sir!” Patrick sounded frantic at the end of the line…“I'm not a child Patrick. Can't I spend some time alone” “You can sir. But I was worried when I couldn't reach you, I was afraid of you…” Patrick trailed off and the smile on Alex's face was soon replaced with a frown…“That didn't happen, you don't have to worry… how did the meeting go?” “It ended well sir, they accepted the deal” “That's good to know. I'm going home. You can leave early today” Alex ended the call after. His demeanour had taken a comple
Juliet sat in front of the TV trying to distract herself, but she could barely concentrate on the movie and her whole mind was preoccupied with something else, or rather someone else… Alex. Why couldn't she stop thinking about him. He was just a nice samaritan and nothing more. But he had strangely comforted her. She had felt a peace in her heart when she was with because with him, she couldn't hide her feelings deep within her. She was vulnerable when she was with him and a part of her hated that. If he kept showing up, she didn't want to slowly start relying on him. A stranger, was he still a stranger now. Yes! He was a stranger, she only knew his name and that was all. She groaned and turned the volume of her TV… Why couldn't she stop thinking about him!.Her phone rang, startling her a bit. She picked it and saw that it was her boss. The deadline! She had totally forgotten about it. She sighed exasperatedly and waited for her phone to ring to the end… but it started to ring again
"You can't come in,” Julie said sternly as she stood by her locked door. “I know…I'm not allowed to come In… yet” he muttered the last part and almost smiled. “What did you say” “nothing. I should get going” He said, but Julie stopped him with her words. “Who are you really?” Alex stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her, unsure if it was okay to tell her his identity. Would she try to avoid him if he told her? People tend to avoid him trying to become closer when they find out who he is… He didn't want to find out what would happen. Especially not from her. “I'm a guy who would like to see you again…” He replied, and Julie's eyes grew wide. Her cheeks became stained with a bit of red. She cleared her throat and looked away. Just as he was about to go, she said “I love the park” And she entered her house after, leaving Alex alone, staring at her door with a smile on his face. His smile only grew wider as he walked to his car, but once he got into his car and checked hi
Julie tried to hold back a smile as she worked on her laptop, but it was hard when her thoughts kept trailing back to him. Who was he, and why was he making her this way with just some simple words? And why did she have to give a reply like that? She should have told him not to show up again, other than she wanted him to show up again. She glanced at her calendar and saw that a week had passed already. During the whole week…she had oddly been thinking about him showing up. And he finally did, when she had decided to forget about him. She wanted to know more about this Stranger dude. She even let him walk her own, something she would normally never allow. She would have found ways to avoid him, like she did to most people. “Mom, what do you think… Do you think he is a creep…should I be more careful” She muttered as she finished her work and closed her laptop. She yawned and stretched her hand, her eyes darting to her clock. It was past midnight… She got up and slowly walked to he
"Julie!" Juliet stopped in her tracks when she heard her name and turned to see who it was, but she immediately regretted it and wished she would have just ignored... It was Mrs Flicher, the number one gossiper in the area, and juliet was aware that she wad part of their daily gossip. she had overheard then at the supermarket a few blocks aware, gossiping about her in broad day, and she couldn't believe what came out of their mouths. they didn't even know her, and they thought it was okay to talk that way about her... Mrs Flicher was number on the list of people juliet wanted to avoid... Her mother wasn't here anymore to stop her from saying her mind now... Mrs Flicher quickly walked to where juliet was standing, a smile which Juliet knew was fake was on the older woman's face... "I'm so glad I ran into you." She started and held Juliet's hand... "I heard about your mother. I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the wake. I was away for a few days. " Juliet knew she was telling a lie but
"Find out who he has been going to see and do it discretely. You know what will happen it he find out about this" Michelle instructed her P.A, there was no way she was going to let Alex get his way, not after she had to go through in the hands of his father. he had to compensate her for all the years she had suffered. She was going to make him do what she wanted. "Don't you think you are being too much. Why can't you just leave him be Michelle... you will make him dislike you the more. " Caroline tried to advise her sister, but it was like talking to a wall. She saw the determination in Michelle's eyes and knew nothing she said would ever get through to her. She was bent on doing what she wanted. "You off all people shouldn't say that to me!" Michelle channelled her anger to Caroline, who was just trying to advise her, and Caroline sighed, yes, a wall. "Don't regret this later on, I warned you," "Shut your mouth. You weren't the one who was forced to marry someone against their wil
"She is a writer?" Alex said to Patrick as he looked at the file in his hand, a smile on his face... "Yes, sir... she works for DB publishing company and helps with a few books that have been published, also screen writing. From what I've heard, she is working on her own book" Patrick explained and dropped another file in front of Alex. "But I think she is planning on quiting soon" Alex raised his eyes up to look at Patrick, confusion etched in his eyes. "Why is she planning on quiting" "Well she isn't the only one... Their publishing company isn't doing to well lately and most of the workers have started quiting... only a few of them are left, including Her" Patrick explained and Alex sat up in his chair... He picked up the file about DB publishing company and read through it in silence... They were in debts and were having a hard time... "How long as she being working there" he asked "About a few years now. She started working there as an intern while in college and continued whe
