MEETING MY FUTURE HUSBAND

At 12:30am

Eleanor was very wide awake and every single word of her father rang in her ears every now and then. She also stares at her phone every now and then waiting for the call of the man. She needed him to call this very moment.

She didn't even feel any ounce of tiredness through what she was thinking. Anyone who looked at her now, would think she was having mental problems.

Like as if God wanted to help her, her phone buzzed loudly and she quickly glanced at it to see an unknown number. At first, she didn't want to pick up, but come to think it, it may be the man.

“Hello?”She said Silently as she tried listening to the background of the caller. It seemed like the man was in a club as she could here faint music.

“My boss would like to see you tomorrow to talk more about your marriage. Any questions before I hang up?”

Inside Eleanor, she was very happy that she got a response, now she just have to tell him tomorrow all her challenges. Who knows, maybe he can help.

The thoughts of getting to save her Mother made Eleanor so happy, she doubts If she would be able to sleep.

NEXT DAY

Eleanor quickly got up, did her chores and got ready to meet her soon-to-be husband. “I bet he would be handsome, filthy rich, muscular and would love me so much”She would always say every now and then.

She made sure she dressed in one of her finest clothes just to make sure she impresses him. “I hope he likes me”

As she was about to leave, she met her Father coming out of his room while making a phone, as soon as he sighted Eleanor, he quickly hung up without giving his caller an heads up.

“Hold up, Where do you think you are going dressing up like this?”

“I'm off to find some cash that will help Mother recover soon”

He looked at her like she was stupid “And where do you think you will see that kind of money?”

Eleanor already got tired of her Father's frequent interrogations. And he put her, he put then all in debt, he caused all this, if not, she wouldn't be getting married off to some random man she hasn't met nor seen in her whole life.

“Dad, Please quit these interrogations. I thought we already talked about all this”

She said as she looked at her dad with one eye. Suddenly, she just suddenly feels fed up of him lately.

“Now if you excuse me, i will be in the streets, if there's anything or any updates from Mother, please do well to call me”

Her Father was speechless as he watched his daughter go out. He knew he would get blamed by everyone in his family, but not his beloved daughter. He sighed deeply and left the room.

AT NICHOLAS OFFICE

Nicholas typed away on his laptop as beads of sweats formed around his head. He was a workaholic who didn't care about anything else in the world than work and earn money!!

But through the constant pestering of his Mother, he had to hire some random woman he has never seen in his life to be his wife for two years. Although, he has his own plans. He shoved the thoughts out of his head and continued typing.

Not long after, his telephone buzzed and he picked it with disgust.

“Talk”He said with a tone of finality. He hates been disrupted while he was working. He was already getting irritated by how his secretary does recently 

The Secretary felt intimidated and stammered while she talked “I am sorry to disrupt your work sir, but someone's here to see you”

“What's the name?”He was a man of few words, the maximum words he can say is ten.

The Secretary held the phone backwards and stared at Eleanor with eyes of jealousy. She wondered why she was looking for her boss.

She loved her boss than anything else in the world, but he didn't seem to take any interest in her which she hated. Ever since her years of working in that company, she has never seen a woman want to see her boss before, but it shouldn't be what's she thinking.

“What's your name Ma'am”

“You can just say Eleanor Roseville, the woman from the contract”Eleanor replied while smiling.

“Boss, she says she's Eleanor, the woman from the contract”She said waiting for her boss's reply.

“Oh. Let her in!!”He replied from the other side of the phone.

The Secretary whose name was Scarlett could feel a pinch of jealousy growing in her. But she kept her mind at rest remembering herself that her boss wasn't a womanizer.

“She may just wants to cooperate with us at the mention of contract”She said inwardly assuring herself of safety.

She faced Eleanor still smiling professionally “You can go in Ma'am, he's in the 40th floor. At office door 40A. He is the only one on that floor, so it won't be hard for you to find his office.”

Eleanor nodded her head and felt proud that her future husband was the owner of the most largest company in the country. She felt Like she has achieved so much.

Finally, she was at the door of office 40A, she breathed in nervously and knocked on the door slightly. She could already feel a cold aura emitting from the door and she hasn't even entered.

She tried listening for a 'come in' but she didn't hear anything at that time. So she decided to knock again.

Thankfully, this time, she heard a very faint but cold come in.

She twisted the door knob happily awaiting the face of her soon to be husband. She always dreamt that her husband should be an angel.

Eleanor gazed at the figure in front of her and she couldn't help but gape. This is an angel indeed, She couldn't believe she was going to get married to this amazing figure. Suddenly, she was on cloud nine. Thinking of the many things they were going to do together.

He looked at her like she was stupid for looking at him without saying a word. He clears his throat “Will you keep on daydreaming or will you excuse me because I have work to do unlike you lazy people”

Eleanor felt he was being rude but she quickly shoved it off thinking he was just being tired. “Yes, yes. A man told me you are interested in a marriage contract and I am interested. Can you tell me more about this?”

“No!!”He said firmly not even taking a glance at her for a moment.

Eleanor was confused on his statement “Excuse me?”

He gazed at her for a second and then continued typing away hardly on his laptop as the sounds of him pressing hard on the keyboard was very well heard around the room. “Nothing. Listen and listen well, I won't repeat myself on the contract details. The contract expires after two years of our marriage. I'll pay you five hundred thousand dollars”

Eleanor wanted to say yes without thinking twice but suddenly remembered something.

“But I need a billion dollars for my Mother cancer treatment. She needs to be flown out of the country but it's a billion dollars. Can you also help me with that?”

Nicholas looked at the woman in front of him and broke into laughter. That was the first time he laughed in years. How could such a frail woman like her have such audacity to beg for a billion dollars in front of him.

Eleanor on the other hand, felt confused because of his sudden laughter. But she didn't want to ask.

He looked up at her with his pair of blue eyes “And why do I care about your dying Mother? Do I look like a bank to you that you are asking about a billion dollars”

“I know, but please help me. I love my mother, that I don't want to lose her. I'll do anything you ask.”

Suddenly, he looked up from his laptop with doubting eyes “Anything, you say?”

“Yes anything to save my Mother.”

“I will pay for your Mother's bill if you get intimate with me tomorrow. Think about it If you like”

Eleanor thought that what was there to lose if he was going to be her husband. 

“I agree, there's nothing to think about. Where will I meet you tomorrow?”

Nicholas was surprised that this woman quickly accepted his offer without thinking twice, which means she really loved her Mother. The moments he keeps spending with her, the more he kept on getting fascinated by her. “Great! A man will come pick you up tomorrow morning at your house”

“Should I send you my address? It's just...”

Before she could complete her statement, Nicholas shut her up immediately. “Enough!! He knows your address, he will come pick you up tomorrow. Now stop blabbing and leave my office now. I have work to do”

Eleanor couldn't believe he was a chasing her out if his office just like that. But she shoved that off too still thinking maybe he was tired.
