38. The escape

[Zephyr’s POV]

Astoria had attacked Reese, but Willa had created a light shield around him right on time.

Porter teleported beside Astoria, holding her back. He pointed his wand at Reese.

“I wanted to respect him because he is your son, Willa, but it looks like respect is given to people who deserve it.” Porter said. “Not to rampaging beasts. They should be caged and killed before they do any further harm to the society.”

“Put down your wand, Porter,” Willa warned, standing as a barrier between the light benders and Reese.

“Look at her drawing her wand at us for an impure blood,” Astoria said. “Her priorities have changed and her loyalty lies in her impure family now. There’s no point in keeping her around anymore. Kill them!”

“That’s not something you can decide, priestess Astoria,” Porter said in a calm tone. “She is under the saint’s service. Only he can decide her fate.”

“And I’ll gladly give my life for his cause…” Willa said.
