39. Hysteria of life

[Zephyr’s POV]

Archer stepped forward, but Alpha raised his hands, and he stopped.

“Kids, go ahead,” Archer said.

As if we would.

“Mother…” Reese took cautious steps towards Willa.

“Stay away!” Willa yelled. “Stay away from me. All of you!”

“Shoot,” Alpha Urza said in an impassive tone. He stepped closer to Willa until the mouth of the gun was against his chest.

Willa took in a trembling breath, gritting her teeth. She tightened her grip on the gun as her finger slid over the trigger.

“You think I can’t shoot you?” she snarled at alpha.

“It doesn’t matter what I think. What matters is what you think,” he said, staring into Willa’s eyes.

She pressed her lips together, taking a determined breath. Nodding, she chuckled.

“If I am going to die anyway, I’d rather take you down with me, Urza,” she said in a hoarse voice.

Alpha Urza smiled, “five seconds are all you need to pull that trigger. I am giving you a chance to kill me. Just five seconds. I won’t protect myself, nor will anyone els
