Nelly paced back and forth in her living room, the glow of the city lights outside casting eerie shadows across her face. She glanced at Maria, who was sitting at the dining table, eyes glued to her laptop screen.

"Are you sure this will work?" Nelly asked, her voice edged with anticipation.

Maria nodded, her fingers flying over the keyboard. "I've got it all covered. Carina's about to lose everything, and she won't even see it coming."

Maria pulled up the construction company’s confidential documents that she had managed to sneak out earlier. "This is the final piece," she said, attaching the files to an email. "Once I send this to her rivals, they’ll have everything they need to beat her to the punch."

With a decisive click, Maria sent the email. "Done. Now we wait."

Hours later, under the cover of night, the rival company released their new plan. It was eerily similar to Carina's, do

I walked into the boardroom, my stomach a knot of anxiety. The air was thick with tension. As I took my seat at the head of the table, I could feel the weight of everyone's eyes on me. The board of directors sat, grim-faced, waiting to unleash their fury."Carina, do you realize the magnitude of this disaster?" Mr. Thompson, the head of the board, began. His voice was harsh, his eyes burning with anger.I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. "I understand the situation is dire, Mr. Thompson. We were blindsided by this leak of information, and I'm doing everything I can to find out who’s responsible."Ms. Jacobs, another director, leaned forward, her expression cold. "Blindsided? This was a blank failure of leadership. You were supposed to ensure the security of our plans. Instead, you let them slip right into the hands of our competitors."I felt my cheeks flush with a mix of embarrassment and anger. "Security measures were in place, Ms. Jacobs. I arrived at Madam Katie's house feeling completely defeated. The drive there had been filled with thoughts of failure, of letting her down, and of how I was spiraling. As I walked through the front door, I could hear her voice from the living room, pleading with the investors on my behalf. I stood silently in the hallway, watching her from behind, feeling even more guilty with every word she spoke."Yes, I understand your concerns," Madam Katie said into the phone. "Please, give us a little more time. We are addressing the issue and will come back stronger.”She turned and saw me standing there, and our eyes met.Overwhelmed with guilt, I fell to my knees, tears streaming down my face. "I'm so sorry, Madam Katie. I've failed you. I’ve let everyone down."She rushed over to me, her face a mix of concern and kindness. "Get up, Carina. This isn't your fault," she said, helping me to my feet."I can't do this," I sobbed. "I want to quit. You should take over. I’m ruining everything."Mad

"Martins, how is your relationship with Carina?" she asked, her tone firm.Martins looked down, not saying a word."She told me you two broke up," Madam Katie continued, watching him closely.Martins nodded slowly. "She found out on her own."Madam Katie's patience wore thin. She stood up, her voice rising. "Why didn't you tell her yourself? Why did you let her find out this way?"Martins flinched but remained silent."You left her in pain, Martins. You disappeared and tried to run away from it. You should have faced it earlier, explained everything to her.""I was too ashamed," Martins said quietly. "I couldn't face her."Madam Katie’s eyes flashed with anger. I didn’t sleep at all last night. My mind was racing, and my heart was heavy. But somewhere in the chaos, an idea began to form. By morning, I was certain of what needed to be done. I immediately requested an urgent meeting with the investors, directors, and Madam Katie. I needed to turn everything around, and this was my only shot. The conference room filled quickly, tension palpable in the air. Madam Katie sat beside me, her presence a comforting reminder that I wasn’t alone. The investors and directors watched me with hard eyes, waiting for me to speak.I took a deep breath and began, “Thank you all for coming on such short notice. I want to start by apologizing for the recent issues we’ve faced.”One of the directors cut me off, his impatience clear. “Get to the point, Carina. Nelly and Maria sat in Nelly’s living room, the lights dimmed, their faces illuminated by the glow of the TV screen. They replayed the clip for the third time, relishing every moment of Carina’s embarrassment in the boardroom. The room was filled with their laughter, sharp and biting, echoing through the space.“It’s perfect,” Nelly said, wiping tears of mirth from her eyes. “I never thought it would work out this well.”Maria nodded, a satisfied smile on her face. “It was bound to happen. Carina’s been too confident for too long. She needed to be brought down a notch.”Nelly leaned back, a sense of accomplishment washing over her. “And the best part is, we’re just getting started.”Maria’s phone buzzed, and she glanced at the screen. “Speaking of which, I have some news. The competitor we tipped off wants to compensate you for your involvement. They’re offering you a top office in their company.”Nelly’s eyes widened in shock. “Are you serious? That’s incredible. She's been persuading many of them, and it's working. You need to act now."Nelly, always quick to action, nodded though he couldn’t see it. "We can't let her win. We'll take care of it."Maria chimed in, "We'll visit each of the directors tonight. We need to spoil her plans and plant doubts about her capabilities."The two women set out immediately. Their first stop was Mr. Harrison’s house. He was a key board member, and if they could turn him against Carina, it would have a domino effect.Maria knocked on the door, and after a few moments, Mr. Harrison opened it, looking surprised to see them. “ Maria, what brings you here and who is your friend?’ Maria smiled, though it didn't reach her eye “ We need to talk about Carina.
