The car pulled up to the grand mansion, its towering structure standing as a testament to old memories.

As Nicole gazed at the familiar estate, she felt a wave of emotions rush over her.

Nothing had changed, from the neatly trimmed hedges down to the grand double doors. The air was just as still, with time itself seeming to have stood waiting for her return.

But there was a strange peace that seemed to settle in her heart. Despite all that had happened, this was still home.

She stepped out of the car and took a deep breath. She turned to the bodyguards and issued one curt command:

"Wait outside."

The men only nodded wordlessly, their alert eyes scanning around the perimeter as she made her way to the door.

At the marble stairs, the heavy doors slid open, and Leo and Bella came out.

At the very sight of her, Leo brightened up.

"Nicole!" he exclaimed, dashing forward to fold her in a warm hug.

The hug was warm, nearly too tight, and somewhat set her off. She hadn't expected him to

The large entrance door swung open again just as Nicole stepped outside. Leo, still frozen in shock from everything that had just unfolded, lifted his gaze, only to see her walking back inside. His breath caught in his throat. Had she changed her mind? Was she staying? Nicole's heels clicked softly against the varnished floor as she came to a stop before him, her face unreadable but tinged with regret. Bella snorted loudly, wrapping her arms tightly over her chest, but Nicole didn't bat an eye.She came to a stop right in front of Leo, inches from him, and reached into her bag to pull out a sleek, embossed business card. Without hesitation, she extended it toward him."My business card," she replied, her tone firm but soft. "You can reach me with the number on it."Leo hesitated, taking it from her outstretched hand; their fingers briefly touched. He swallowed hard, wanting to say something, anything, but the words refused to come. Nicole gave him a small, almost wistful smile

Nicole was still seething as she slid into the backseat of the car, her hands curled into fists on her lap. The encounter with Veronica had reignited a fury she had thought she had under control. Every part of her burned with the need for justice, for revenge. The air inside the car felt thick, suffocating, filled with unspoken tension. Carter, behind the wheel, glanced at her through the rearview mirror, but said nothing. He had seen her like this before, but today, it was different. Collins was the less aggressive of the two bodyguards and only turned partially around in his seat, his voice equally calm and firm: "Boss, you need to take a breath, you can't let it get to you. We are here for you. Whatever it is you need us to do, anything, just say it.".His voice had dropped and a tinge laced within his voice sent a ripple of cold down the air. "Even if it means killing someone."Nicole let out a small, mirthless chuckle as the tension in her shoulders eased a little. She turne

The next morning, Nicole stirred at the sound of persistent knocking at her hotel room door. Groggy and still wrapped in the warmth of her blankets, she forced herself to sit up. The knocking continued, growing more impatient. She flung her legs over the side of the bed, jammed her feet into slippers, and was off toward the door. It was the way she opened it that made everything catch in her throat. Standing before her was Leo, resplendent in a navy suit, as commanding as ever. Standing to either side of him, her two bodyguards stood at attention, their eyes raking the hallway for any signs of danger.Nicole forced a smile, taken aback for a moment. "Leo," she said, stepping aside to let him in. "What a surprise."He smirked as he came in, his sharp eyes scanning the lavish hotel suite. "Did you forget this is my hotel? It wasn't hard to find you."Nicole let out a soft chuckle. "Right. I should have remembered that."They exchanged pleasantries, and for what seemed like an org

The atmosphere inside the Fury mansion was tense, thick with frustration and barely contained anger. Taylor paced the length of the living room, his hands curled into fists at his sides, while his mother, Veronica, sat stiffly on the couch, her face set in an icy scowl. Both mother and son were boiling with rage over Nicole’s sudden resurgence and her attempts to claim dominance over Taylons Enterprises.“This is her way of getting revenge,” Taylor spat, running a hand through his already disheveled hair. “She’s trying to humiliate us, to take away everything I’ve worked for. And I’ll be damned if I let that happen.”Veronica exhaled sharply, nodding in agreement. “That woman has always been a viper. I knew it the moment she stepped into this family. I warned you about her, but you refused to listen.” She crossed her arms, her expression dark. “She won’t succeed. I won’t let her.”Across the room, Sarah sat on the opposite couch, her arms resting on her lap. Unlike her husband an

Leo left his office at the Grand Horizon Hotel, loosening his tie slightly as he exhaled. It had been a long day filled with back-to-back meetings, and his mind was still restless. But as he approached the hallway leading to the guest suites, his thoughts drifted toward Nicole. He hadn’t seen her since that night at his mansion, the night she rejected him, telling him she wasn’t ready for a relationship. He had given her space, hoping she at least considered his words, but now the space between them was too much to bear; he had to see her.He went toward her room with decisiveness in his steps. At her door, he first knocked lightly and, getting no response, a little harder. Still, no answer.Frowning, he looked around, expecting to see her ever-present bodyguards, stationed somewhere nearby. But to his growing concern, they weren't there either. Leo knocked again. "Nicole?" His voice was steady. He pressed his ear to the door, listening for any sound from within, but all he he

The heavy wooden doors of the Taylons Enterprises boardroom opened, and the board members filed in one by one, their expressions somber and unreadable. The air was charged – heavy with tension that seemed to settle right in the chest, making their breath come hard. Taylor was sitting at the head of the long metropolitan table, his posture erect, but his hands drumming on the surface of the table top.In recent days, he had done all he could to ensure he got the votes that would help him keep his post. Some had promised some things, others had been asked for a favor, and a few others threatened in a hushed voice. As more of the board members arrived, he could not dispel a rising sense of emptiness in his stomach—the sense that it would not be enough. In the same room, Nicole Okeke walked in with so much confidence and self- assurance. She wore a well-fitting tailed suit, and she could control the room without uttering a single word. She settled gracefully into the chair, and whi

The night was eerily silent except for the faint rustle of leaves carried by the cold breeze. Carter crouched low as his sharp eyes fixed on the dimly lit window of the rundown apartment.Moonlight danced on the cracked walls, casting ominous shadows that seemed to stretch endlessly. His heart was racing, but his breathing was smooth, a display of his years of combat skills. This was it. The intel he had pieced together bit by bit led him to the shooter's hideout. He coiled each muscle in his body, ready to strike. He tightened his grip on his weapon and edged closer to the door. The only sound he heard was the creaking of the wooden floor beneath his boots. He gave a swift, calculated kick, and the door burst open, slamming against the wall with a loud thud. The room beyond was dark, save for a flickering bulb in the corner that cast erratic shadows. The shooter was taken aback by the intrusion and leaped from his chair. His eyes narrowed when he saw the figure before him, immediat

The air in the Taylons Enterprises boardroom was thick with tension, the kind that crackled just before a storm. Taylor sat at the head of the long mahogany table, his jaw locked in barely concealed frustration. His mother, Veronica, sat next to him, cold and unreadable, but a flicker of anger in her eyes once in a while gave her away. Across from them, Nicole exuded quiet confidence, hands folded neatly on the table, commanding authority even without a word. Collins, her bodyguard, stood just outside the door, ensuring that her safety was never compromised. The remaining board members, including Mr. Donovan, Mrs. Lawson, and a few others, occupied their seats, their faces a mix of anticipation and apprehension.Mr. Donovan cleared his throat, breaking the uneasy silence. "Gentlemen and ladies, thank you all for gathering here this evening. We have urgent matters to discuss regarding the future of Taylons Enterprises."Taylor scoffed, leaning back in his chair. Taylor Fury was deep in conversation on a business call, his fingers gripping the edge of his mahogany desk as he tried to salvage what little power he had left at Taylons Enterprises. His voice, usually commanding and sharp, held a slight edge of desperation as he spoke. “I understand, Mr. Saunders,” he said into the phone, his tone measured, masking his frustration. "But pulling out now would only—"A sudden knock at his office door interrupted him. His hold on the receiver tightened, annoyance flashing across his features. "What?" he barked, but the door creaked open anyway, revealing his secretary, a young woman whose usually composed face was lined with worry. She hesitated before stepping inside, her fingers nervously twisting the edge of the folder she carried.Taylor let out a heavy sigh to restrain himself. "Mr. Saunders, let me call you back."He hung up without even waiting for an answer. He was getting impatient. "What is it?"The secretary moved closer. "Sir, the boa

The morning sun cast a golden glow over the city, but Carter’s mind was clouded with the storm brewing within. For the last few hours, he had been picking up every single piece of information that could lead him to the shooter. However, there was something he needed to do before he could go hunting, as any self respecting bachelor should. He drove up to Emilia’s apartment and parked the car, clenching the wheel for a few seconds before getting out. He thought that he could do it without anyone noticing but there was something in him that wanted him to see her. Perhaps it was the way she had glanced his way last night; pleading, concerned, as if she wanted to tell him something. Or perhaps, in spite of all this, he just wanted to be close to her one more time before crossing over to the other side.He knocked on her door and waited. After a few seconds, he heard someone run past. The door opened and there was Emilia, ready for work, dressed in her business outfit, her bag on her

The drive to Emilia’s apartment was silent at first, a thick tension hanging between them. Carter kept his eyes on the road, his grip firm on the steering wheel, but he could feel her presence beside him like a magnet pulling him in. Emilia sat with her hands clasped together on her lap, sneaking glances at him every few seconds. The soft light from the street lamps outside cast evasive shadows on his sharp features, making him all the more mysterious."You don't talk much, do you?" Emilia finally broke the silence, a small teasing smile playing on her lips.Carter smirked but didn't turn toward her. "I talk when there's something worth saying."Emilia chuckled. "I see. A man of few words but sharp actions."He turned a quick glance at her, back to the road. "Something like that."As they reached her apartment, Carter pulled onto the curb, turned off the engine. He waited for her to say, "Thanks," and leave, but instead, Emilia unbuckled her seat belt and turned to him. There was s

The night air was thick with tension, carrying the distant hum of the city as Veronica Fury stood in a dimly lit alley, her expensive coat wrapped tightly around her slender frame. Her face, usually composed and calculating, was contorted with rage, her breath coming in sharp, furious bursts. Standing across from her, Scorpion stood stiffly, hands shoved deep into the pockets of his weathered leather jacket. The single flickering streetlamp above them barely illuminated his face, but even in the dim light, she could make out the unease in his eyes. Veronica took a slow step forward, the heels clicking against the cold pavement."You had one job," she hissed, her voice full of venom. "One goddamn job, and you failed."Scorpion swallowed hard. "Her bodyguard was fast. The bastard moved before I could get a clear shot. Took the bullet himself."Veronica scoffed, her head shaking in disgust. "And that means what to me? That you expect me to sympathize? To understand your incompetence?

The morning air was crisp as Nicole and Emilia stepped out of the car, the golden rays of the sun casting a glow over the city. The journey to Mr. Donovan's company was smooth, Collins trailing behind them, as they packed, his sharp eyes scanning their surroundings for any sign of trouble. Two weeks had passed since the attack on Nicole. The wound left by that incident had not yet healed, not in her mind, nor in her heart. Carter’s near-death experience had changed something in her, solidifying her resolve. If there had been any doubt before, it was gone now. The Fury family had to pay, and Taylons Enterprises would be hers.Seated in her study, Nicole leaned back in her chair, her fingers drumming lightly against the polished wood of her desk. Across from her, Emilia sat with her tablet in hand, ready to take notes. Nicole exhaled, staring at Emilia for a moment before speaking. "I need to be honest with you," she said slowly. "I brought you into my company for a reason beyond your skills."Emilia's head leaned to one side, intrigued but not exactly surprised.
