A minute later, the security guard, after verifying Leo’s identity, signaled to the others stationed at the gate.

With a nod, they stepped aside, allowing Leo’s car to roll forward onto the driveway of Nicole’s luxurious new home.

The wrought-iron gates closed behind him, locking the world outside.

Nicole stood outside the entrance to her house, her arms crossed while she watched him step out of his vehicle.

She had expected him, no, she had waited for him since the very moment his name flashed on the security's phone.

But what she hadn't expected was this rush of emotions that welled within her as he strode towards her.

How had he found her?

She had been discreet, ensuring her new address was well out of reach for anyone who might show up looking for her.

But here he was.

Leo sauntered toward her, a knowing smirk on his face, his hands in his pockets, those hawk eyes fixed on hers. "Aren't you going to invite me in?" he asked, cocking his head.

Nicole woke up to the soft rays of sunlight filtering through the curtains with its cast of a golden glow over the room. The warmth of the sheets, the faint scent of Leo lingering beside her, it was all too comfortable, too intimate. She turned her head, very much awake, watching him as he slept, the gentle rise and fall of his bare chest in regular breathing. She allowed herself to savor this peace for a moment. The night before, no less intoxicating, had burst this passion inside her, surfacing something that for a long period she had struggled to suppress.Yet the longer the initial haze of her pleasure began to wear off, reality set in and clouded her thoughts. She wasn't ready for this, not yet.Quickly, she got out of bed and wrapped a silk robe around her as she walked to the window. Her mind was at war with itself.Part of her wanted to remain folded in the arms of a man who really loved her, who had stood by her when the whole world deserted her.But the bigger part reminde

Taylor stormed into the house, his face twisted with frustration, his jaw clenched so tightly it ached. His mind was a storm of anger and disbelief, every thought consumed by Nicole. Two days later, Veronica sat in a dimly lit bar across town, clad in a black dress, black gloves, and dark-tinted sunglasses that concealed her sharp, calculating eyes. The air inside the bar was thick with cigarette smoke, the murmur of conversations blending into the distant clinking of glasses. She was powerful and menacing, with the manicured fingers of one hand drumming a rhythm on the wood as she waited. Opposite her sat a man who called himself Scorpion. He was lean, his face sharp, his nature fidgety, always searching for a threat from angles seen and unseen. He looked around before locking restless eyes on Veronica."This woman you're after is one hell of a big fish," he muttered under his breath. Hoarseness coated his tone while his posture was tense, and he looked every inch a man who knew he was playing with fire. Veronica's lips curled into a sneer. "Shut up and tell me what you found."Scorpion hesitated, then reached inside his worn leather jacket and pulled out

Nicole paced outside the hospital room, her arms crossed tightly against her chest, her mind racing. The sterile white walls, the faint beeping of machines from inside the ward, and the scent of antiseptic did nothing to ease her turmoil. She had never felt this helpless before. Carter was more than just a bodyguard, he was family. Collins stood beside her, his keen eyes sweeping the hall; Emilia sat on one of the chairs lining the corridor, pale, her fingers clasping her tablet with knuckles gone white. None of them said a word, but their emotions hung heavy in the air, like a thick, suffocating fog. Nicole's breath hitched as the door finally opened, and the doctor stepped out.Wasting no time, she forged ahead. "How is he?" she asked, and the anxiety in her voice betrayed her.The middle-aged doctor regarded her for a moment with graying hair before speaking. "Are you a family member?"Nicole straightened, clenching her jaw. "He works for me."The doctor blew out a sigh as he

Two weeks had passed since the attack on Nicole. The wound left by that incident had not yet healed, not in her mind, nor in her heart. Carter’s near-death experience had changed something in her, solidifying her resolve. If there had been any doubt before, it was gone now. The Fury family had to pay, and Taylons Enterprises would be hers.Seated in her study, Nicole leaned back in her chair, her fingers drumming lightly against the polished wood of her desk. Across from her, Emilia sat with her tablet in hand, ready to take notes. Nicole exhaled, staring at Emilia for a moment before speaking. "I need to be honest with you," she said slowly. "I brought you into my company for a reason beyond your skills."Emilia's head leaned to one side, intrigued but not exactly surprised. "What?"Nicole's lips thinned as she, after a few tense seconds, replied with her words, "I want to take over Taylons Enterprises. And I won't stop until I do."Shockingly, Emilia smiled, knowing her plans a

The morning air was crisp as Nicole and Emilia stepped out of the car, the golden rays of the sun casting a glow over the city. The night air was thick with tension, carrying the distant hum of the city as Veronica Fury stood in a dimly lit alley, her expensive coat wrapped tightly around her slender frame. Her face, usually composed and calculating, was contorted with rage, her breath coming in sharp, furious bursts. Standing across from her, Scorpion stood stiffly, hands shoved deep into the pockets of his weathered leather jacket. The single flickering streetlamp above them barely illuminated his face, but even in the dim light, she could make out the unease in his eyes. Veronica took a slow step forward, the heels clicking against the cold pavement. "You had one job," she hissed, her voice full of venom. "One goddamn job, and you failed." Scorpion swallowed hard. "Her bodyguard was fast. The bastard moved before I could get a clear shot. Took the bullet himself." Veronica scoffed, her head shaking in disgust. "And that means what to me? The ENDNicole sat behind her desk, staring out the large glass window of her office, lost in thought. The morning had been a blur of meetings and paperwork, but her mind was elsewhere. The past weeks had been stormy: their victory against the Fury family, reclaiming what she lost, and finally getting justice from the wrongs done to her. Yet deep down, she knew there were still loose strings to tie.A soft knock at her door pulled her out of her musings. It was Emilia peeking inside. "Ma'am, you have a visitor.""Who is it?" Nicole asked, assuming some other business partner or yet another journalist looking for an interview.Emilia hesitated. "It's Taylor Fury."Nicole's breath hitched. Taylor? Here? Of all people?"Let him in," she said, though her voice did not reflect the sudden turmoil that had risen in her chest. The door swung open, and Taylor walked in, his usual arrogance replaced with something unfamiliar -- humility. He looked different, almost worn down, as if the weight

The evening air was crisp and filled with the comforting hum of city life as Nicole stepped out of the car, her heels clicking lightly against the pavement. The weight of the past weeks still weighed upon her shoulders, but tonight she was determined to try to escape it, if only for a few hours. She adjusted the coat draped over her shoulders and nodded at the bodyguards on either side."You're dismissed for the night," she said. "I'll be fine here."Collins hesitated. "Boss, are you sure? We can wait outside."Nicole gave him a small smile. "Go home. You both deserve the rest. Come back in the morning."Carter exchanged a glance with Collins before giving a reluctant nod. "Alright, but call if anything happens...""Thank you, Carter," Nicole said, cutting him off. "Nothing will happen. See you both in the morning."With that, she turned and made her way toward the entrance of Leo's home.Warmth enveloped her as she stepped inside to the delicious smell of roasted chicken and spices

The Fury mansion was shrouded in an eerie silence as Taylor and Sarah sat in the dimly lit living room, their eyes fixed on the television screen. It had drained them for these past few weeks, the feeling in the room, that of defeat, hung in the air heavy. The evening news was on, first with politics, current events of interest around the world, when the voice of the news anchor changed. To their most shocking scene, was the declaration of the sale of Taylons Enterprises to its new owner. Facing them, stream of voices went hysterical, with every other reporter screaming their questions louder than the last. "Ms. Okeke, do you really feel the court will be on your side?" "How do you reply to claims that this case has absolutely nothing to do with justice but it is, in reality, a personal vendetta?"Carter stepped in front of Nicole, the chaotic crowd pushing in against him as Collins held open the car door only a few feet away. The bodyguards' security at this moment was fierce."Back off!" Carter barked, his voice firm as he pushed a microphone away from Nicole's face. Nicole, however raised a hand to call off her bodyguards. "It's ok," she said, voice calm, but commanding. The reporters now reduced

The prosecuting council stood up and called their next witness: "We would like to call Sarah Fury to the stand."Veronica's eyes quickly widened in shock. How was this possible?
