Nicole paced outside the hospital room, her arms crossed tightly against her chest, her mind racing. The sterile white walls, the faint beeping of machines from inside the ward, and the scent of antiseptic did nothing to ease her turmoil. She had never felt this helpless before. Carter was more than just a bodyguard, he was family. Collins stood beside her, his keen eyes sweeping the hall; Emilia sat on one of the chairs lining the corridor, pale, her fingers clasping her tablet with knuckles gone white. None of them said a word, but their emotions hung heavy in the air, like a thick, suffocating fog. Nicole's breath hitched as the door finally opened, and the doctor stepped out.Wasting no time, she forged ahead. "How is he?" she asked, and the anxiety in her voice betrayed her.The middle-aged doctor regarded her for a moment with graying hair before speaking. "Are you a family member?"Nicole straightened, clenching her jaw. "He works for me."The doctor blew out a sigh as he

Carter’s near-death experience had changed something in her, solidifying her resolve. If there had been any doubt before, it was gone now. The Fury family had to pay, and Taylons Enterprises would be hers.Seated in her study, Nicole leaned back in her chair, her fingers drumming lightly against the polished wood of her desk. Across from her, Emilia sat with her tablet in hand, ready to take notes. Nicole exhaled, staring at Emilia for a moment before speaking. "I need to be honest with you," she said slowly. "I brought you into my company for a reason beyond your skills."Emilia's head leaned to one side, intrigued but not exactly surprised. "What?"Nicole's lips thinned as she, after a few tense seconds, replied with her words, "I want to take over Taylons Enterprises. And I won't stop until I do."Shockingly, Emilia smiled, knowing her plans a

The heavy wooden doors of the Taylons Enterprises boardroom opened, and the board members filed in one by one, their expressions somber and unreadable. The air was charged – heavy with tension that seemed to settle right in the chest, making their breath come hard. Taylor was sitting at the head of the long metropolitan table, his posture erect, but his hands drumming on the surface of the table top.In recent days, he had done all he could to ensure he got the votes that would help him keep his post. Some had promised some things, others had been asked for a favor, and a few others threatened in a hushed voice. As more of the board members arrived, he could not dispel a rising sense of emptiness in his stomach—the sense that it would not be enough. In the same room, Nicole Okeke walked in with so much confidence and self- assurance. She wore a well-fitting tailed suit, and she could control the room without uttering a single word. She settled gracefully into the chair, and whi

Carter crouched low as his sharp eyes fixed on the dimly lit window of the rundown apartment.Moonlight danced on the cracked walls, casting ominous shadows that seemed to stretch endlessly. His heart was racing, but his breathing was smooth, a display of his years of combat skills. This was it. The intel he had pieced together bit by bit led him to the shooter's hideout. He coiled each muscle in his body, ready to strike. He tightened his grip on his weapon and edged closer to the door. The only sound he heard was the creaking of the wooden floor beneath his boots. He gave a swift, calculated kick, and the door burst open, slamming against the wall with a loud thud. The room beyond was dark, save for a flickering bulb in the corner that cast erratic shadows. The shooter was taken aback by the intrusion and leaped from his chair. His eyes narrowed when he saw the figure before him, immediat
