In the car, I was half-listening to Matthew, who was grilling me about Richard, whom I had left with Chris. I had told my fiancé about this father-son encounter earlier, reassuring him that the man who was related to my son had kept our agreement during his several encounters with him.

He should have had nothing to worry about, but I couldn't understand why she would do something like this to me when we were already halfway to the bespectacled man's meeting place with his business partner.

"You don't have to think about it too much, Matthew." I finally said, looking at the man who finished his words when I spoke. "We're going to spend time together while Richard is already scheduled to spend time with that man. Just leave them and us to our own business."
