Evolve to Survive

There was a dark empty. In this empty, there were two entities. They were dark as well, making them invisible in the empty but they felt each other.   "You died. There's no point mincing it."   "..."   "You were driving home and you were hit by a truck. The paramedics tried their best to save you but to no avail. But trust me, it is better this way."   "What do you mean?"   "Surviving would have meant a lifetime looking at a window while lying on a bed, hoping for the sweet release of death."   "..."    "I meant paralysis, David."

David has been traveling the rough forest of Foserense for days now in search of a home. In the morning, he would evade the dangerous creatures that lurk in its foliage while making sure to log any important information he could find. In the afternoon, he would hunt for food, both for the afternoon and the next morning. In the evening, he would find a small place where he could hide so he does not get assailed or attacked by the forest’s dangerous denizens.    He wasn’t always successful. There were times that he couldn’t evade the dangerous creatures nor find any food. The worst is at night when he is weak and tired and an animal attacks him.    This night was one of those sleepless nights.   David pushed through the foliage as he evaded the incoming bone knife. T

David immediately went home after his frightening discovery. It took a while but he managed to create a pulley system on his home base. Besides the waterfall was a large and sturdy tree. David used it to create a makeshift elevator.    There.   David carries himself up with the bluefur cow Mk. 2.    ~Huff huff~   David feels a bit winded as he continues to work the pulley.    Once on top, David ties the thick vine on the tree branch. A boar-like creature was grazing off a lush field. Its teeth were able to crush the thick leaves and squeeze out whatever juices it could.    In its animal mind, it was happy and content. It didn’t want for much, except maybe more of its species to reproduce with.    Actually, the creature wonders a bit. It looks around to look for its companion but finds itself alone.    How did that happen? These were the creature’s simple thoughts. These past few days, it was with three others of its species. David’s body trembled. He felt an unbelievable amount of fear as he heard the powerful wings of the Deus Draco. The evolving super reptile was too busy focusing on its evolution to notice. David lightly stabs his hand.  He feels himself calm down.  The pain helps David focus.  Looking around, David sees the shadow of the Draco overhead. David looks for any nearby hiding spot but the nearest place he could possibly hide in was the dead super reptile’s body.  David rushes to the dead super reptile and hides behind its massive corpse.
