The first thing that I did as soon as I arrived in the university was to proceed in my cousin’s club room. Jethro messaged me this morning to meet him there. It shock the hell out of me when I saw his message.
“Let’s start from the top!” “For goodness sake Worth! Focus!”“Damn Shaun! You’re out of the beat!”My forehead creased when Jethro's frustrated face welcomed me. “Why are you so hot-headed today, Jet?” Linus, the acoustic guy said.“Yeah,” Alas, the pianist seconded. “You’re not yourself, bro.”“Just shut up and continue!”I pursed my lips before silently sashayed closer to them. Worth's eyes bulge when he saw me. I gave him a small wave and landed my gaze on Jethro who was already glaring at him. I assumed, he didn’t notice my presence. “Focus Rojas! Don’t let me repeat myself again!” he growled. What’s with him? I shook my head deciding to make him acknowledge my presence. He’s too busy being grumpy to his band mates.“Mr. Martinez.” I folded my arms. “Why don’t you give your band mates a break and give me your attention instead?” the last line made me want to poke, m****a!He slowly turn to me, eyebrows furrowed. I kept my face straight when he finally faced me. His band mates look stunned from what they heard from me and just stared at us.“You’re late, Missy.” He said in a cold tone.“Not my fault,” I shrugged. “I’d seen your message five minutes after you sent it to me.”“That’s not a valid reasoning, Rojas.” He stood up from his seat then played the drumsticks on his hands without leaving his eyes on me. “I won’t accept that.”My eyes roll upwards. “You’re funny.” A sarcastic smile played on my lips. “Valid or not, at least I came here.”I saw how his jaw tightened. “Follow me then.”I sigh as I watched him walk his way out of the club room. “Are you serious?”“What do you think?”“I won’t accept it!”I inhaled sharply. “Do I look like a pig to you?! This is too much!”The man just lazily stare at me as he put both of his arms on the table. “You’re skinny,” he pointed the foods that he bought. “Eat.”“We supposed to talk about my club’s project not to eat here,” I gritted my teeth in frustration. He didn’t say anything, and the last thing I knew; he pulled my face closer to him. My mouth parted in shock, stunned as he placed something inside my mouth.Joder! I cursed loudly inside my head. “Yummy?” he smirked.“Gillipolas!” I spat.He chuckled. “Calm down, babe.”The nerve of this guy! Que culo! I should have refuse Ms. Concepcion's task for me! This is making me frustrated!“Calm down, hmm?” he lick his lower lip. “I figured you haven’t eaten yet so, I bought this all for you.”“Should I be thankful, then?” I crossed my arms across my chest then lifted my chin up as I settled my eyes on him.“Your choice,” he shrugged. I growled. “I hate you.”He just bore his eyes on me, not giving any reaction from what I said. “Shall we start what we’re supposed to discuss?” he said.We spent an hour discussing my club's project that involves them. Glad that he doesn’t seem to mind those looks that students in the cafeteria giving at us. Our conversation turned out well because that’s how it should be. “Be here at eight tomorrow,” he said as he stands up. “You have my number, so inform me if you have other concerns.” I just nodded my head. “Okay, thank you for your time.”He nods in response before turning his back on me. I watched him steadily, but paused for a moment when my eyes landed on the foods on the table. I gasped, eyes narrowing as I lifted my pointed finger to his direction.“Dion Jethro Martinez!”He didn’t turn to my direction, instead he lazily waved his hand then continue walking away. With my eyebrows furrowed, I tightened the grip on the three paper bag that I’m holding as I made my way to our room. I couldn’t just left all of this in the cafeteria. Captain’s effort will come to waste. Note the sarcasm tone in that.“Did you lose in a bet?” Maisie asked me.“Don’t talk to me,” I huffed as I placed the damn paper bags on the floor. She chuckled in response. “Someone made Amber mad!”“Oh! I bet I know who it was!”“Omg! Spill the tea!”I roll my eyes and sat on my chair. Can I find another friend? I want to change these dummies. They’re not useful.“Worth,” I called the man who was smirking at me. “Can you give these to your asshole Captain?”His mouth parted. “Ass what?” he chuckles, “he really get into your nerves.”“Just give these to him,” I said in a monotone voice. He raised both of his arms. “Of course. I surrender, my lady.”Fool. “Hurry up.”He scratched the back of his neck as he grab the three paper bags on the floor.“But Captain just texted me that you should keep those,” Alas interfered that made me froze.“Que culo!” I hissed. “I don’t care about it! Just give those to him!”“You should keep it, Amber.” Adira wiggled her eyebrows. “You won’t have a problem buying stocks. He already provided it for you. So, keep it babe.”What the fuck? Do I look like I need someone to provide me foods? I scoffed. I can buy my own. I can even buy the whole supermarket for my needs!“Oh, oh.” Sadie shakes her head. “You just made her madder, Adi!”Aren’t they aware that I’m not that kind of person who’ll accept things from someone? If I know that I can provide and give it to myself, I won’t need anyone to do that to me. I can stand on my own. “I can buy those,” I said. “You know how I do things for myself.”“You believe in your own supremacy,” Arya smirked. “That’s your famous quote.”I spent the rest of the day editing the pictures in my gallery. The pictures that I took in our summer vacation. It’s Friday, so we don’t have much things to do here. “I’ll go now, Amber.” Aleeza one of my club mates said.“Take care,” I mumbled without leaving my attention on my laptop. “Are you sure you'll not go with me yet?” she asked.I shook my head. “No, it’s still early.”“Okay.”Sighing, I scroll on my gallery finding a picture to edit. My eyes stop on a certain picture. I bit my lower lip and averted my gaze on it. It’s still here, huh.“I know you’ll stay here at this hour.”That voice. “Stop messing with me, Gutierrez.”I heard him sigh. “How long will you going to ignore my existence, Cass?”I gritted my teeth. “Stop calling me that!”“It’s been thirteen years,” he spoke. “Move on, Amber.”“You’re saying that as if it’s that easy to do.”“Because you’re not trying!” I shut my eyes tightly. “Can you just get lost?!”I can feel the coldness beneath my skin. My hands were trembling, my chest feels like going to burst out. Whenever he’ll showed up, he never fail to send this feels in my system.“And now you’re scared.” He whispered. “You still haven’t put in your mind that I will not going to hurt you.”“Y-You’re not sure!” my voice was already shaking.“I’m not like them, Amber.”I let out a shaky sigh. “Just leave me alone.”“Please…”Emptiness. Why does emptiness takes a lot of space? Looking back from what happened a while ago, I haven’t figured out why am I feeling so scared and nervous from his presence. I had known him since day one, but I didn’t expect that he’ll cause this feeling towards me. And this is confusing. But maybe it’s because of her.Maisie Anise Alcazar: Check our university’s page, girl! @Amber RojasAdira Storm Lucero: You’re trending! Are they for real? We were just talking in that picture! Was that called dating already? Estúpido!I've always been in the page’s news, but I never expected to be included in that shitty issue. Seriously? Can that useless thing will benefit them? I scoffed. People’s greediness always lead them to their own downfall, anyway.“Howdy Amber!”I kept my eyes on my camera, wiping its lens. “Don’t disturb me, Caius.”I’m not in the mood to talk to an annoying person like him. My cousin and him sits on the same table. They’re loud. My whole mood ruined from that post yesterday night. Now, I’m giving myself a time to calm down by cleaning my camera because it’ll help me keep busy. “Hey babe,” I heard Madeline’s voice. “Leave Amber alone. She’s in the don't-mess-with-me state right now. So, you better not do anything that’ll put you in danger.”“Oh, scary!”“Babe! I'm serious!”I bit my lower lip while attaching the lens back on the camera. My blood was literally boiling. This has something to do with the issue between Captain and I. It never left my mind. I couldn’t even sleep properly because of it!“Alright people!” Ms. Concepcion called our attention. “Time to set up the cameras and such!”With my camera on my hands, I stood up from the bleachers. I look around for Cain but I saw him talking with our club teacher. While my club mates started moving the things and setting it up around the field. “Amber!” I turn around only to see my cousin running towards me. He’s in their team's jersey. I titled my head and arched my eyebrow at him. He should be getting ready.“Captain’s asking for you,” he informed once he get closer from me.“Okay.” I said timidly. He pouted his lips. “You look pissed.”I look at him. “More than that.” I said which made his face turned pale.He walked beside me as we both went into his team’s direction. I saw his teammates talking with Captain. They all look serious. “What is it, Martinez?” I asked without even greeting him. They stopped from talking and turn to me. Captain folded his arms across his chest as he met my gaze. His lips curled a bit then gesture something to his teammates.“You look pissed, Missy.”I roll my eyes. I lost count on how many times people told me that line. It’s all written on my face. “You did this.” I growled.A grin escaped into his lips. “What should I do to make it up with you, hmm?”I bit my tongue and avoided his eyes. I’m losing it. This is bad. You’re not like this, Amber. Get a hold of yourself!“Ready your team.” Was all I said then turned my back at him.“Let’s wrap it up!”A soft yawn escaped into my lips while I massaged my neck. We finished our shooting with the Alpha team. Glad that they are all cooperative. But there are times that I want to taped their mouths because of their loudness.I glanced at my wrist watch only to see that it’s already eight in the evening. We spent that long, huh? Sighing, I sat on the Bermuda grass spreading both of my legs. I groaned as I closed my eyes in tiredness.“You’ll get cold.”Before I open my eyes to see who it was, I felt a warm thing on my shoulders.“Martinez,” I mouthed then open my eyes.He was looking down on me, holding a tumbler on his left hand. My eyes fixated on his wet chest. I cleared my throat then look away. Such a tease.“Are you hungry, Rojas?”I bit my lip. And now, he’s calling me by my surname.“Obviously,” I said without look
“Amber!”I gasped and turn to the person who called me. Adira was pouting at me. I’m sure that she had been calling me. I was too pre occupied.“You’re spacing out!” she whined like a child.I gave her an apologetic smile. She rolled her eyes at me. “What’s with you, girl?”“Nothing,” I lazily said. She narrowed her eyes on me then moved her chair closer to me. She placed her arms on the armchair and looked at me closely.“Don’t look at me like that!” I rolled my eyes.“Are you…” She wiggled her eyebrows. “Are you in love?!”My eyes widened and immediately shut her mouth by covering it with my hands. She glared at me and removed my hand from her mouth.“I was just asking!”Glad that our classmates were too busy with their own. And glad that the other girls wasn’t here. Because I know
My heart couldn’t stop beating. This guy instantly affected my whole being without even putting so much effort in it. I’m good at hiding what I feel, but right now—I’m about to explode. How did he make me feel this? His grey eyes stared at me. I remained silent and ignored him. My cousin was looking at me with his menacing stare. I must ignore him and stay away from him. That’s the safest thing to do.“Missy,” he called me. “I believe we have something to talk about.”I didn’t respond and looked away. He’s acting weird, or maybe I’m the who's acting like that. Can he just get lost?I turned to Adira. “Let’s go.”“Cariño.”I bit my lower lip hard. I squeezed my eyes tightly while calming myself. He should stop this. He should stop being this close to me.Because being with me will just put him in the darkness that was his
“I heard Alex got home yesterday,” I nodded at Maisie. “Where did you go yesterday? You and Captain left us.”I pressed my lips, not minding her question. She gave me a playful smile. This girl will not stop nagging me unless, I’ll answer her question. I don’t want to answer it either. I’ll just let her nag me all day.“So, Alex arrived yesterday?”“Are you deaf?”“No, I’m mute.”My eyes darted to the two: Adira and Worth. They’re at it again. My cousin was happy seeing Adira’s annoyed face. I don’t know why he’s enjoying in annoying Adira.“Did you saw Captain?” Alas asked out of nowhere. My forehead creased. Come to think of it, I didn’t even saw him today. I didn’t even see him in the field.“He’s not feeling well.”I looked at my cousin, asking. “Well, someone was
I was standing nervously in front of his room. I had been deciding for a while if I should knock. I'm just going to give this food to him, but here I am standing for about fifteen minutes in front of the door.My mind was still wandering about what his sister told me. She caught me off-guard by her words just like his brother. Both of them have the ability to do that to a person."You can do this," I mumbled.I squeezed my eyes shut as I took a deep breath. I knocked on the door while holding my breath. My forehead creased when I didn't receive any response from him. I faced palm and pressed my lips when I realized that he's sleeping.Estúpido Amber!I turn the doorknob and quietly enter the door and slowly closed it. His manly scent filled the room. I wandered my eyes around the corner of his room. It looks masculine. You can already say that it belongs to a man.The room gives away his bachelorhood. Everything is functional. His roo
"I'll just get some air," I mouthed as I turn my eyes on Arya. "It's suffocating here.""Suffocating?" she sneered. “Or Captain's suffocating you?” She arched her eyebrows."I’ll take my leave, now." Was all I said. She gave me a smirk. I remained stoic and shook my head. Having a gossiper friend was such a burden."Okay," she chuckled. "I’ll just believe that the crowds was making you feel suffocated.”I rolled my eyes. "Then I'll just believe that I didn't hear you shouted Shaun's name."Her hazel eyes widened. I smirked when I saw her cheeks reddened. I’m aware on my surroundings and I didn’t fail to hear her scream. She should be glad that I'm the one who heard her. The others would apparently make fun of it."Can you just leave?!"I laughed. She looked at me sharply. I smirked before turning my back at her. I heard her muttered a curse. I chuckled. She denies it, but she's slowly f
"What's wrong?" Caius asked.I sighed and sat beside him. "They keep staring at me," I scoffed. "It's annoying.""I won't blame them," he laughed inwardly. "You're beautiful, that's why.”"Whatever," I tsk-ed.I just put my attention on my camera. I adjusted the settings and took some pictures. I took a deep sigh and rested my chin on my palm."Do you think we'll win?" I asked, unconsciously."Don't you trust my cousin?"I blinked. "What?"He chuckled then messed my hair. I shot him a dagger look. He smiled then looked at me."Jethro's my cousin," he said. "You forgot that I mentioned him.""Because I don't give a damn about it.”He scratched his forehead. "Typical of you.""But seriously?" I arched my brow. "He's your cousin?"He nodded. I hovered my gaze at him. I just noticed their resemblance. His features was soft compared to Captain’s rugged look. Yet you can see their
“Go Alpha team!”The game has started. The spectators sitting on the bleachers started to scream while flaunting their own banners of the teams. My eyes darted on the left corner and saw the other team.Golden Eagles. They’re wearing a yellow varsity shirt while the Alpha team are wearing a blue varsity shirt. The crowds were divided into two groups. All the people from Evergreen High wore yellow while we wore blue. I pouted and looked down at what I was wearing. I mentally slapped my face when I knew the color that I’m wearing.I think I belong to the other team.I frowned and folded my arms across my chest. I glanced at the girls. They are all wearing blue. I feel like I betrayed our school.“Oh, there’s a traitor.” Adira pointed me.I hissed. “I don’t know that they would wear yellow.”The three looked at me and also point my clothes. I frowned at them. I don’
I still have that letter.“I literally find it in the trash can,” I mumbled to myself, reminiscing the embarrassing moment that I did years ago.Funny how I really want to read that letter. I want it so bad, that I didn’t feel ashamed from what I’d done. It’s all crumpled but I can still even read what was written on it. Nostalgic feeling surrounded me as I let out a subtle smile. The letter was…I have no words or rather than: words are not enough to describe it.For me, it was the most precious thing in the world.Imagine being able to receive a handwritten letter from that man. You’ll probably told yourself that you’re now ready to face death because of that. Because that man was so good at words. So good that even the best writer couldn’t even get close. It&rsq
“Tomorrow will be the last game of Alpha team against the Golden Eagles.” Our club teacher told us.“I just wanted to remind you about your own roles, so better do it properly and correctly.” She glanced at the couple beside me before turning her attention to me.“We shouldn’t depend only to our club president,” she shook her head. “You need to work as a club not depending or leaning in your club president all the works. You’re not called a club for nothing.”After that, she dismissed us. She reminded us about our own works before she left.“Why does it seem like Ms. Concepcion’s pertaining to us?” Madeline pouted her lips and leaned on Caius.“That’s because you focus on flirting with each other instead of doing your own tasks,” I snorted. “You’re both living in the same h
Loving can hurt, loving can hurt sometimesBut it’s the only thing that I knowWhen it gets hard, you know it can get hard sometimesIt is the only thing makes us feel aliveThe sky was shadowed in darkness. The rain fell like an ocean thrown from the sky. Thunder rumbled like a rock star on the stage. And a jagged bolt of lightning ripped the sky in half. The wind ran as if it was being chased. The sound of it was a strange song, howling and longing for a melody. We keep this love in a photographWe made these memories for ourselvesWhere our eyes are never closingHearts are never brokenAnd time’s forever frozen, stillI looked at the droplets of rain on the window. The song Photograph by Ed Sheeran was playing on my phone. I let out a sigh as I stood up. I blink when the song stop and replaced with ringtone.“Are you coming with us?” I sat on the bed.“It’s rai
“Are you for real?!”I heard their gasps, letting out an exaggerated expressions. They found out the ‘pretend relationship’ of my cousin and Adira though I was the only one who knows that it’s a ‘pretend’ one. Here I was expecting my day to be a peaceful and away from noises, but it was far from my expectations. I closed my Coleen Hover book and placed it on my lap as I darted my eyes on my friends.“Don’t you have practice?” I murmured, slowly getting up and gathering my things.I felt their stares, giving me a curious look. They shouldn’t be here in the greenhouse. Right, how did they know that I’m here? Or more importantly, why are they here?“Oh, you’re here?” Maisie blink. “We didn’t saw you.”“Check your eyes,” I mumbled. She chuckled.
Without awareness of the road or the rain; the car moved letting my thoughts scattered in my mind. I let my brain roam free and my heart in exploring new avenues.I lift my pointed finger, tracing the window shield. I saw my reflection on it. They say, when a door closes, another one opens but, the way I see it, when a window closes you can only see what could have been through its transparent surface. They’re devious, sly, and tricky the way they allow you to see through them.“Did you visit, Yellow?”My cousin’s pair of emerald eyes dropped on me. I can see an emotion in his eyes like my father. I nodded, still staring at the window shield.“It’s her birthday.” I mumbled. “How’s your date with your pretend girlfriend?” I tilted my head, smirking.A grin formed against my lips when I saw his reaction. His full lips parted; shock was evident on his face. I smirked, it seemed like he didn&r
I was left alone after she said those words. I took a deep breath, and felt a pang of pain in my chest when I remembered what happened between me and Captain. I glanced at my watch. Their game is about to end.“Amber.”I sighed deeply before lifting my head to see him.“Grey.”He gave me a small smile and sat beside me. I remained quiet so as him. There’s no students here in the cafeteria because they’re all watching the game.“What time are you going tomorrow?” he asked. “Can I fetch you?”I bit my lower lip and shook my head. “You know that I always come alone, right?”“Right,” he chuckled. “You always want to spent time with her alone.” I smiled.I paused for a moment then took a deep breath before looking at him.“Do you hate me? Or did you?” I fiddled with my fingers. “I just want to know…you have
It's been thirty minutes since the second half started. The score was in favor to the Alpha team. You can say that will win this game yet the other was doing their best to turn the tables."Navarro wouldn't let himself lose,” I heard Dimitri uttered. My forehead creased. "Have you known Anshel for a long time, Dim?"He nodded while his eyes fixed on the game. I turned my attention back to the game. Dimitri knows Anshel for a long time. That's confusing. Why is Captain so mad at him?"Five seconds!"I let out a loud sigh. Whatever what's going on between them is not my concern. Maybe they have a misunderstanding. My curiosity side was awake again and I doubt that it would stop.I shook my head before drifting my eyes in front of me. My forehead creased. Captain was walking to my direction. I pouted my lips as I watched him bathe in his own sweat."Break?" I asked as I offered the bottle of water to him.His lips pursed. "Y
