Suddenly, the doorbell rang, taking me by surprise; I didn't know why. I guess a part of me expected him to come in through the window. Lance laughed and the irony was not lost on him. "Come on, let me show you around my club," he said, holding my chair for me as I rose from my seat. I turned to Lance, alarmed. "You must keep an open mind; no one is killing anyone in there. Here in this club, killing is not allowed. If that were the case, then word would get out and we'd be out of business. No, we feed from humans, then heal them and erase their memories. Then, they are free to go."
