—The cool and brave b"Dale!" I called him, crying. But he never looked back rather he walked faster. My chest tightens. I can not breathe. I've never felt this kind of pain before. I didn't expect it to be this painful. It felt like a knife were pushed into my heart. It's unbearable. My vision went blurry because I am crying hard. I couldn't stand the pain so I fell on the sand. It felt so heavy, dragging my whole world down. My tears were still running down to my cheeks. Unstoppable."Dale. . . "He noticed what happened to me, he turned his back on me. I saw that his hands were formed into fists. I know that he's still holding that photo. I wasn't wrong when he threw that with anger on the seashore."You know, woman?" His
Clarriese Zyah's POV “Name?” “Clarriese Zyah Tehran.” “Age?” “18.” “Department?” “Journalism Department.” “If you were chosen to be one of the new members of the team today—” Dwight and I both stopped when we heard the bell rang. She was asking me questions like I am in actual interview or the search of new staffers. It’s already 7:30 in the morning and we need to attend our first-period class. There are still lot of students outside. Some are walking fast because they are getting late for their class. Yet most of the students who are in other department were riding in bicycle. This way, they'll arrive sooner at their building. The campus was quiet vas
Dale Daniel's POVIt is a new busy day for me. Riona just searched for the new aspiring writers for the team. After informing their respective advisers, I hurriedly went to Riona’s place. I am sure that they are waiting for me now. Since Mr. Bob is not around, our adviser in the school paper, I need to handle the team alone. The session started with letting them introduce themselves. While the process is going on I noticed someone is staring at me. Lot of girls have their eyes on me but only this woman caught my attention. She’s familiar, I thought. Where and when did I see her? I am sure that I did. A few seconds went by and I finally recalled that memory. It was her, the woman that I accidentally bumped with my bicycle yesterday. I haven’t said a formal apology yet. It’s not that I am not sorry, I am really in a hurry.
Dale Daniel’s POV It’s already three o’clock in the morning, but I am still here, wide awake. Every time I closed my eyes, it’s her face that I saw, her smile. Her voice just echoed to my ears, breaking the deafening silence of the night. I rubbed both my hands in my face to let out the frustration growing inside my chest. It’s been so many days already but still, every night when I closed my eyes, I could picture her image in my head, her smiles even more vivid the more I thought to cast the thought away. I wonder what is happening to me. Are there damaged nerves or tissues inside my brain? “You’ve never been alone, Dale.” When I hear that word, it creeps into my heart. I’ve had goosebumps. It’s been a while since I heard such words. “Papa!” I cried. I accidentally lost the toy that my dad gave me. Since it’s the first toy that he gav
Clarriese Zyah's POVThe past months I'd spent at Riona were all priceless. We, the new members, met new friends and got closer to our seniors. Among all of them, Aethryl was the senior I'm closed with. I really admire how she lived her life even when she was alone. What I mean is, she doesn't have a father, her mother is working somewhere far away, and her twin sister is studying abroad, they're even not on good terms. But still, she chooses to understand everything, she chooses to prolong her patience. When we talked about life, she always mentioned that everything that happened in her life happens for a reason, with a purpose. And she added that she is not alone in her journey because she was loved by the Lord, and He is with her throughout the journey."Zy, can you print this document out?" Aethryl called, giving her instruction.
Clarriese Zyah's POV"I have something to tell you.""What is it?" I asked, excited to hear what he was going to say.Silence dominates the ambiance since it's just the two of us here. The other staffers are having their snacks at the cafeteria."Actually," he started hesitantly, his hand landed on the bridge of his nose."Yes?""I—"He couldn't finish his word when someone came in at the office."Did I disturb you two?" Aron Ryle asked as he entered the room."No. You did not, kuya," I responded."You've been here for so long in Riona, Zy. You're still calling me "kuya." He flashed a quick smile. "You can call me the way you call Dale.""My apologies. I've got used to it." I chuckled a bit."What are you
Clarriese Zyah's POVToday is the day of our Christmas party. As I stepped at the entrance of our campus, I saw all the people with smiles on their faces, carrying their gifts. Some of the students were holding balloons and bouquets. I also saw some students wearing Santa Claus hats.I went straight to our classroom first to leave some of my belongings. Dwight wasn't around yet when I came in."Tine, I'll go to Riona first," I informed Christine, our classroom president. She is now arranging our food at the table at the front. She stopped and turned her gaze towards my direction. "Sure, Zy," she responded. "You've done your part already," she added.
Dale Daniel's POVDay after our Christmas, I got up early in the morning because Manang Lydia woke me up, informing me that my grandmother was calling."Sir Dale!" I heard her from outside. I forced myself to open my sleepy eyes. "Madam is calling!" she added.I felt the heaviness in my body, tiredness is still present in me. I got up lazily and opened the door of my room. "Thanks, Manang Lydia," I said after she passed me the keypad phone.Manang Lydia and my grandmother were pretty close. Back when I was a child it was both of them who looked after me after my father passed away.My father. . . Papa.

Dale Daniel hurried to go home. He couldn't resist his excitement to see his wife after such a tiring day."Manang Lydia, where are my ladies?" he asked when he entered the house."Sir, you are looking for Ma'am Zyah? Aren't you two together?" Manang Lydia replied. "I didn't see them around."Dale wondered where they were. His wife sent him a message that they are home but Manang Lydia says differently. He decided to look for them upstairs."Wife? Dhyrine?" He called but he heard nothing from them. He opened the door of their room but no one was there. He went down again, still calling his wife and daughter.
Clarriese Zyah's POVNow that Dale is now in front of me, I couldn't search for any words to utter. I was dumbfounded and lost my speech. My heart was beating loudly that it may come out of my chest at any moment. My rapid heart beats hindered me from letting out a word.I never thought this moment would happen. I am not prepared for this. I couldn't even bring myself to meet his gaze. Even if I wanted to, I just couldn't do it. For now, looking at him directly in his eyes was the most difficult thing to do."Ah? I need to accompany her," I said, intentionally avoiding him. I hurriedly went to Delia's direction and sat next to her."Enjoying the view?" I wrote on the piece of paper I was holding. I felt my palms sweating and my hands shaking. I am in a deep panic and don't know how to calm myself down. When I handed the paper to her, she turned and gave me a "thumbs up" accompanied with a bright, wide smile.I write s
Dale Daniel's POV"Something bad happened to Zyah.""What?!" I asked but I've got no response. The other line went quiet. When I checked my phone, it turned out that the call had already ended. I tried calling him again but he is out of coverage already."Sir Dale!" I heard someone call me.When I lifted up my head, I saw him, my driver. He was already standing beside the car, waiting for me. When I got nearer he helped me to put my luggage in the trunk."Manong? I need to go somewhere. Can you just take a cab to go back to the house?"He nodded and smiled. "Sure, sir Dale. No problem."I gave him money for his fare. I immediately started the engine of the car when I got on. I couldn't afford to miss another minute. I tried calling Zyah's phone but this time it's unavailable. The fear began to stir inside my chest. I wonder what happened to her. If that's how Dwight and Ellaine reacted, then something big really happened.
Clarriese Zyah's POVMy hands were trembling as I continued to check on the papers from the envelope I found in dad's things. I couldn't be more terrified. If I'm right with my thoughts then, who is this man? Is he really my dad? But he has the same appearance as my father!I am confused. My mind went messy. When I heard someone open the door, I immediately went down. I gathered myself together. I need to know the truth."Baby, we are home!" I heard my mom announce. When I faced both of them, I couldn't search for a word to utter. I lost my speech. I have a lot of thoughts in my mind but when I opened my mouth, I didn't know what to say first. I felt like my head was going to explode anytime soon. I felt like something was fighting in my head that was getting more and more disturbing. It's a very difficult fight. It was terrible.I felt like going crazy."Zy, are you okay?" My father asked and tried to touch my hand but intentionally
Dale Daniel's POVMisty road, chaotic mind, aching heart.I stepped on gas and sped up my car despite being unsure what lies ahead on the road. I am not drunk. I am just out of my mind trying to get rid of the pain devouring my heart.Due to the thick fog around, I didn't notice the lady who crossed the road. That happened before I could even stop the car. I felt like I was sweating even it's a frigid morning. With my hands shaking, I opened my car's door. I walked towards her with unsteady feet. I felt my whole body trembling.Lying down, unconscious. Her white dress was stained with her own blood.Dreadfully nervous, I went closer to her. Too anxious to see her condition. Fear enveloped my system, nearly shutting down my heart and made me breathless. Oh no. What should I do? Is she dead? When her face became apparent to my vision, my entire world collapsed. I suddenly fell down helplessly. I began crying out her name, begging her to
Clarriese Zyah's POVDay after I went to Dreammy Pen HQ, I processed my papers for going to the Philippines. I am worried about Lola. Maybe it's now time to face all of them.No one could ever escape from the truth. Fate won't be an exception for me. I couldn't picture in my mind how I am going to face my father but I know I could stand it somehow. I already had a lot of time running away. I've been away with the thought of healing myself. But I know within me how I missed my family and friends. I can only be genuinely happy when I am with them. What's the point of being afraid to go back when they are all waiting for me?When my plane landed at NAIA, I stepped down with excitement bubbling in my heart. Nothing beats the feeling of being in your homeland. I could smile with relief. It is true that the Philippines is indeed for the Pilipinos. Am I right? That's what I am thinking right now."Zyah!" I heard my name
Clarriese Zyah's POVI am bothered by what Mr. Scott told me. Every word he said made sense and made me believe that it was really him. I didn't waste any seconds and looked for my laptop. I found myself typing on the keyboard the name of their website. I was discouraged when I found out that it has been quiet for many days already. The featured journalists and writers on their page are more than 10 only. They were about a hundred the last time I visited their page. That Mr. Scott, whoever he is, isn't lying. The Inkwell really is in a dilemma. It seems that they indeed need my help.I continued browsing on their website. Until I found a content that shows Dale was the author of the article. I was hesitant to read it. I had a lot of thoughts that hindered me from clicking it. Yet I still read it at the end. I couldn't blame myself for being too soft-hearted, right?"Fading Chapters," I read the title. These words are quite painful."I am lost
Dale Daniel's POV"Aren't we just wasting our time here?" I complained, impatient. "It's been 2 days already but we still haven't found that Little Author.""Calm down, sir," Trish spoke. "The HQ told us that her IP address is just around Paris.""But Paris is the biggest city here in France!" I argued."Her website!" he exclaimed. "Let's see if she has a new update."With Trish's idea, I went back to my chair and opened my laptop. After a minute, I am now on her page. Again, I felt a strange excitement when I clicked on that website. I just wanted to sit down with a cup of coffee while reading her words. Sometimes, I felt a sense of relief while going over to her works. This author really reminds me of someone. Yeah, it reminds me of her. I could feel warmth just from their words.I wonder how Zyah is doing now."Appreciating little things req
