Chapter Sixty Two

Klaus PoV

Just when I thought I could finally relax and enjoy being Alpha to the pack, spend time with my pregnant wife, and just generally enjoy my life, the moon goddess has dropped another trouble in my laps.

I knew it was harsh to refer to Lisa as trouble, but that was the truth. She was the one that set in motion the chain of events that led to the showdown between Axel and I. I’d helped her before, and it almost cost me everything.

Lisa came with a lot of baggage. There was the prophecy riding on her back, and there was Maximo relentlessly searching for her. And I do not want to make Maximo my enemy. That would be the dumbest move ever. I became Alpha two days ago, and I’m thrusting my pack into the hands of a powerful megalomaniac.

Every ounce of logic in my body screamed at me to send her back to wherever she came, conscious or unconscious. It was the only way to stay out of the Maximo’s crosshairs. Which was a terrible place to be. It was the only to keep my pack safe.

Then
