Chapter 80

Pollen’s POV

When the cab pulled up at Mia’s place, I paid the fare and brought out my belongings. They were too many to carry, so I called Mia over the phone to come help me.

Mia rushed out of the building with Laura trailing behind. As soon as I saw Laura I adjusted my sleeves. The thought of her finding out I had nearly been strangled to death gave me a pang of embarrassment, and I could understand what Mia meant earlier.

“Are you okay?” Mia paused in her tracks when she saw me.

Laura, on the other hand, took the bag I was carrying in my hand without a word.

“I’m okay,” I nodded, but it was obvious that I wasn't, no matter how much I tried to conceal it.

They carried all my luggage to the house, and Laura made me hot chocolate when we got inside.

“Thank you,” I mumbled as my hands hurriedly wrapped around the hot mug for warmth.

I saw Mia signal to Laura to go inside the bedroom.

“Are you alright?” Mia squatted in front of me.

“I—” The tears I have been battling not to she rolled
