Chapter 1: Fatal Mistake

 (Ares POV)

“Don’t you dare to touch me again,” I spat those words in anger when Ellen tried to touch me. 

“I am sorry, Babe! It was just…umm…I know, I am wrong! What I did was wrong. But, Please forgive me for the last time,” Ellen said while looking towards me with guilt written all over his face. 

“I promise, I will never do that again. Please!!!” Ellen said and I felt like someone punched me in the gut. Maybe he is guilty this time and will not repeat this mistake again. 

“Okay! But, It is your last chance. If you ever did this again then we are done,” I wanted him with a pointed finger and he nodded with a small plastered on his face. He tried to pull me in a hug but I was not ready for this. 

“Ellen! I have to go somewhere,” I said while shrugging off his hands and leaving his apartment. Tears were stinging my eyes. I don’t know, What I did wrong to deserve this cheating. Although I accept his apology, the fact that he was cheating on me hurts like a b*tch. I fished out my mobile from my jeans and called my best friend. 

“Deren! Where are you?” I asked in urgency. I have to talk to him because no one can understand me better than him. 

“Hi, dude! What’s up? Is everything okay? You seem stressed,” He asked as soon as he picked up my call. Yeah! He can read me like an open book without me even uttering a single word. 

“Hmm! I wanted to talk to you and it is urgent,” I said and he asked me to come to his apartment. I have to discuss two major issues with him. One of them was about my cheating boyfriend and the other one is about my dad. A ball of tears stuck in my throat when I remembered my dad. A lone tear rolled down my cheek and I quickly wiped it with the back of my hand. 

“Calm down, Ares. Calm down,” I said to myself before taking a few deep breaths to compose myself. I didn't care about Deren because He will not judge me as he witness me in worst conditions than this but I wanted to keep my mind relax. His apartment was within a walking distance, so I didn’t bother to take my car. I reached there and rang the doorbell and started waiting for him to come. After a few seconds, I heard the sound of footsteps and then he opened the door. 

“Hey! How are you, Buddy?” He asked with a big smile on his face and gestured for me to come inside. I quickly entered his apartment and plopped on the couch.

“I am not good, I guess,” I answered in a flat tone and he quickly locked the door before coming towards me. 

“Why? What happened to you? Is this your cheating a*shole of a boyfriend again?” He asked while handing me a can of coke. Ah! I didn’t realize that I was missing my coke. I quickly opened the can and take a big gulp before looking toward him. 

“Yeah! He is again with that boy. I caught him red-handed but he quickly realized his mistake and apologize to me,” I said but my words were sounding unconvinced to me too. 

“Yeah, Yeah! Like always. I don’t know if you are straight dumb or pretending to be one. I mean, You caught him four to five times in the last two months but you are still believing his words. Come on, Ares! You can do better right,” He said and tears welled up in my eyes. 

“I do try to leave him but I don’t want to be alone, Deren,” I asked and his mouth hung open. 

“Ares! Look, I don’t want to hurt you but you have to realize one thing, you have to get rid of that douchebag because you deserve so much better…much more than this,” He answered and I sniffled before booking towards him. 

“Who wants a person like me, Deren? My own family throw me out of their house when they realized that I am gay. Who wants an abandoned person like me?” I sniffled again and Daren put a hand on my shoulder. 

“Ares! You have to move on from that incident. I know they didn’t understand you but you shouldn’t judge everyone on the basis of your past experience. I believe that there will be someone special for you, who will not only accept you as you are but will surely love you. You have a pure and golden heart and any sane person will feel lucky to have someone like you in your life,” His words hit me and I blinked my eyes a few times before digesting his words completely. 

“You think so?” I asked with a hint of uncertainty in my voice. 

“Yeah! I believe firmly in it,” He said and my lips stretched in a smile. 

“Now, Tell me what is the other problem?” He asked while taking a big gulp of his coke. I furrowed my brow in confusion. 

“What other problem?” I asked and he smirked before pinching me lightly on my cheek. 

“I can see that your lines of worry are still visible which means, You have something else going on in that pretty mind of yours,” He answered and I take a deep breath to gather my courage to tell him. 

“My brother called me this morning and invited me to his wedding. They will complete the Luna ceremony and will take their wedding vows on the same day,” I shared the news with him and he beamed after hearing this. 

“Wow! That’s a great surprise. Then, Why are you worried about it?” He asked after emptying his can of coke with another big gulp.

“Yeah! It is great news but what will my father do after seeing me in front of his eyes? I know he will not like the fact that I am also attending this marriage. I am nothing but an embarrassment to him. How will people react after knowing the fact that the younger son of the Alpha Alessandro Randolf, is gay? I don’t want to upset him. Although, My mother and my brother have no problem with my sexual orientation. He will never accept me as I am,” I voice my concerns in front of him and he nodded. Deren was a lone wolf and he is also gay but he luckily found his mate on his eighteenth birthday, who didn’t only love him but cherishes him. 

“So, A penny of your thoughts? Will it be good to attend this marriage or not? I wanted to skip it to avoid all the judgemental stares and unnecessary comments,” I expressed my thoughts but he shook his head.

 “No! My opinion is different on that. I know, What you are saying is right but I guess you should attend this marriage. Maybe, You will find a perfect loving mate there. Besides, You will get some time to think about your and Ellen's relationship once again. Maybe, This vacation will help you to decide what you exactly want in life. I am not forcing you but In my opinion, it will be good for you to attend this wedding,” I nodded while putting my empty can on the table. 

He is right and I think, This vacation will provide me with well-needed rest and peace. I wanted to relax for a few days and I think, This vacation is the perfect opportunity to do this. 

“Okay! I am attending this wedding, I guess,” He grinned like a Cheshire cat after hearing this. 

“Good boy! I believe that you will not regret this decision ever,” I nodded after hearing his confident tone. 

“Yo boy! I am coming,” I said in an excited tone while getting up from his couch. 

“And, try to avoid Ellen for a few days. Then we will see if he deserves your forgiveness this time or not?” I couldn’t agree more with him on this.
