I looked up to him and saw my phone in his hands, "Call your workplace yourself and tell them you quit." He demanded and tears welled up in my eyes again.
I had gotten a job in that company through my hard work. I didn't get it through any connections whatsoever, so the fact that he was making me do this was gut wrenching. I took my phone and dialed the CEO's contact.
He picked up immediately, "Helen, what the fuck? I've been trying to reach you all day. So you suddenly marry Blake Robinson and our small firm isn't good enough for you anymore?" He lashed out.
This was all a misunderstanding and I wished I could clear up the misunderstanding but there was nothing I could do, my hands were tied.
"I'm sorry Daniel, but I quit." I whispered into the phone.
"You know what, you can go fuck yourself Helen ." He hung up the call and Blake started laughing. He was laughing at my misery.
He didn't say anything again and wordlessly left his study, with the door wide open. I slowly rose to my feet and started taking small steps out of the room.
My back was still hurting, I suspect I might have broken a rib when my back hit the table.
I went to the dining area and collected my belongings. They were in the same position I had left them in this morning.
I slowly climbed the starirs, careful not to move too fast and injure myself more.
I finally made it back to my room and sat in front of the vanity. I assessed myself, my eyes were red and puffy from all the crying I had been doing since and my hair was disheveled.
I stood up and decided to run myself a hot bath. My phone started ringing again and I thought it was Daniel again but when I looked at the screen, it was an unknown caller.
I was about to pick it but the call ended abruptly.
Strange.
I made a move to stand up again and my phone started ringing again, the same number that called before.
Wasting no time, I quickly answered the call this time. I placed the phone to my ear and there was silence. I wanted to rule it out as a prank call but I stopped when someone quietly whispered my name.
I recognized the voice immediately, "Isabella??"
I asked but the person didn't say anything again.
"Isabella? Please answer me if that's you. Please come back, I can't do this anymore Isabella. Listen please, I had to marry Blake so the deal they made wouldn't fall through, but you have to….." I didn't finish my sentence because my phone was yanked away from me.
I turned around just in time to see Blake smash my phone on the floor. "Are you crazy? Did you just reveal the details of our contract over the phone to someone you don't know? Now I'm really going to make your life a real hell." He yelled at me and started walking towards me.
I gulped harshly.
I was doomed.
And only God knew what he'd do to me this time around.
And when I heard his question, I realized what a stupid mistake I had indeed just made.
"I'm sorry Blake, I didn't mean to, I'll take the responsibility for whatever happens." I told him, trying to prove to him that I would fix this.
"Of course you will, do you expect me to take responsibility for what your stupidity might have caused us? You are the cause of whatever is going to happen and you will take responsibility for it as well." He spat at me.
"Yes Blake, I will take responsibility for it. I will take all the responsibility for it." I answered in a trembling voice.
"You will but before that, I think you need to be taught some lessons about knowing your place in this house." He said, then removed his belt from his trouser and crouched down in front of me, using his hand to tilt my head upwards.
"No Blake! No!! I'm sorry, I made a mistake, I accept, and it won't repeat itself, I already said I'd take responsibility for whatever my actions would cause." I pleaded, hot tears were streaming down my face at this point.
"I know you're sorry, and I do accept your apology but like I said, you have to be taught a lesson." He grinned at me, and stood up, "Stay on your knees and turn your back to me." He instructed me.
I was stunned, too stunned to do anything, and that didn't help matters, it only angered him more, "I said turn your back to me!!" He yelled and stretched out his leg and kicked me.
It was then I knew he was serious, he wasn't joking at all. I managed to pull myself up after falling down and I got on my knees with my back turned to him, just like he had instructed me.
I knew what was coming so I closed my eyes tightly, my fists were clenched tightly too, I was expecting what was coming, but it didn't come, it never came.
"I'll be watching you all through the night, you are to remain in this position till I tell you otherwise, understood?" He said from behind me and I gulped and nodded my head, too scared to speak.
I heard him laugh maniacally and I heard his footsteps retreat from the room till the doors closed and then there was nothing but silence.
I knew Blake was not the type to bluff, so I knew that if he said he was watching me, then he was indeed watching me and I didn't want to provoke him any further, so I did as he had instructed.
I stayed there all night long, on my knees, and the cold was beating me and my bones were screaming out in agony but I dared not move, if I did, I'd suffer worse than this.
I continued to tell myself to look at the bright side, and the bright side was that, if Isabella decided not to come back again, I'd only have to stay married to Blake for two years, thank God it wasn't a lifetime wedding contract.
I needed to know what the actual terms of this contract were though, I needed to know what both parties were getting from this arrangement and see if there was a way I could use it to my advantage. Two years wasn't a long time if I was being honest with myself, but was this how the next two years of my life was going to be? With walking on eggshells around who was supposed to be my husband? I couldn't do it, I needed to do something about my current predicament, I needed to find a way to free myself, that was the last thing I thought about before surrendering to the darkness. "Hey, wake up! Did I tell you, you could sleep?" I heard a voice from a distance and something poking my back as well. I groaned out in protest and even turned in the opposite direction, oblivious to the fact that I was not on my bed at the present moment, "Pathetic." The voice said before walking away. And there was perfect silence and peace I thought. Before I could get too deeply engrossed with my sleep a
Before I could get lost or dwell too much on what working here would mean for me, Blake's words interrupted my thoughts, "Why are there reporters out here again? I thought I told the PR team to take care of them?" He asked the person behind the steering wheel. "Yes you did sir, but they insist you be the one to address them. They said they won't stop till you give them an audience." The man explained. Blake was annoyed, there were stress lines on his face too, "Fine then, let's get this done and over with once and for all." He said and I didn't know what he meant by that, but I knew he was up to something. The car came to a stop in front of the building, and he turned to me, "Stay here, follow my lead and talk only when I ask you to." He instructed me and I knew he was very serious. I didn't want to defy his serious and direct orders, I didn't want to know what the consequences of doing that would be.The reporters swarmed around the car like hungry bees, thankfully, the security
I sensed that I wasn't the only one affected, because Blake had this dazed look in his eyes the moment we separated, so I'd like to think the kiss affected him just as much as it affected me. "That will be all for today." Blake said abruptly after we separated and he entered the building, pulling me alongside as well. He didn't stop walking, and he was taking large strides, so it felt like I was running after him instead. We made it to the elevator and when we stepped in, I bent down, clutching my chest and gasping for air. I felt Blake's eyes on me so I looked up and found him staring at me indeed. He must have been startled because he quickly let go of my hand and even stepped away from me, like I had burnt him or something. He wanted to say something but the opening of the elevator cut him off and he stepped out immediately, like he couldn't stand being in the same space as me. I followed after him quickly, I didn't want to lose him, I couldn't stand the risk of getting lost on
With nowhere to run to, I crashed to the floor at the corner of a dim hallway and cried my eyes out. My life was terrible. Mom and Dad had subjected me to the worst life possible. All of this wouldn't have happened if only Isabella was around. "Why did she have to go all of a sudden?" I asked no one in particular, and I sniffed back tears, hurt from the reality of being married to this bastard. He treated me as though I was simply a piece of rag, and it hurt me in more ways than I was willing to admit. My phone rang in my purse and I pulled it out to see that it was the same unknown number that had called me nights ago. Was the caller calling to make fun of me? What had I done to deserve this? Well, I knew the caller's antics now and I wasn't going to say anything stupid.I answered the call and kept mute, waiting for the caller to speak up first. There was silence on the line and I remained quiet, listening for a sound."Helen?" A feminine voice called out, and it sounded so much
"What the heck is going on here?" Blake screamed as he closed the distance between us. He looked furious and was breathing down hot air on me. "Hey, man, I was just getting to meet your beautiful wife. I can't believe this is the beauty you have been hiding from the whole world." Dominic said as Blake arrived before us. "Shut up Dominic. You fool, how dare you say you ain't come and clean up my office?" Blake landed a heavy slap on my face. I staggered and for a moment, everything was a big mush of blur with stars dancing in my head. "Hey, how dare you hit her like that? She didn't do that. I was the one who ordered Skylar to tell you she wouldn't be available to do that. How dare you hit your wife and in public also?" Dominic yelled at his friend as everything began to normalize in my head. "Dominic, you may be my best friend, but that does not give you the right to tell me how to run my home. My family is mine alone to handle and I won't hesitate to deal with you if you interfe
"Really? Nothing? Well, let me tell you what you need to be sorry for. You need to be sorry for your foolishness. We have been married for days, and yet, you have not been able to get us to consummate our marriage." He sneered at me. My eyes popped wide as I stared at him, shocked by the words he was saying. This was a contract marriage, not a marriage for love. Consummating the marriage wasn't necessary especially since he wasn't in love with me."Wait, you look shocked. Don't you know this is what husband and wife do? Consummate their marriage?" He mocked me. "I didn't think you would be interested in that. You seem to hate me." I managed to say. "More than you can imagine. You are so stupid and the sight of you repulses me." He hissed. "Then you can keep away. We don't have to." I tried to convince him not to make love to me. It wasn't that I didn't feel any attraction to him, but I was fully aware of how he saw me and wouldn't want to complicate things any further. Making lo
“Why the heck didn’t you tell me that you were a virgin?” He hissed at me as though I had committed the worst crime in the world.“I tried to tell you, but you would not listen,” I said, keeping my head bent low.I still didn’t have words to explain what happened, but I enjoyed it. I had an idea of what sex was and how it happened and even though I had assumed my first time would be gentle, I loved what he had done to me.“Well, it is not my fault that you can not open your mouth and speak up. Shit!” He cursed and banged his hand beside me on the wall.I flinched in fear scared he was going to hit me.He brought his eyes down to me and gauged me carefully.“Well, let me inform you. This doesn’t give you any edge over me. You were going to lose it either way, so don’t think you can blackmail me into doing anything for you and your family simply because I took your virginity. You are not special and you need to keep that in your head. Is that clear?” He hissed at me.“Yes, it is clear.”
Helen's POV “Where are you taking me to?” I asked as he dragged me to the elevator.“We are going to Blake’s office. We need to clear out this massive error. There is no way you can become a cleaner in your husband’s company. That is insulting and I won’t let that happen.” He seethed out in anger.“But it is what Blake wants. I do not want any trouble.” I said, trying to avoid any drama from happening. It seemed that my very presence annoyed Blake and I didn’t want to get him more angry. This contract was important to my family and I would do my best to make sure that it stands.“You would not get into any trouble. Not when you are with me. You must be scared of Blake. Well, with me, you can get anything you want from the man.” He winked with a cocky smile.I nodded my head and the elevator doors slid open, ushering us onto the top floor. We marched up to his door and before Dominic could push open his door, Skylar wedged herself in between us and the door.“What is the meaning of th
Blake's POV I stood in front of the altar watching her walk over to me. This time around, I was certain there would be no Isabella to crash the wedding, nor my father to make silly scheming plots. This was just me and Helen, saying our vows and tightening the bond that held us together. My mom, her dad, Dominic, Elizabeth, and Felicia were all in attendance. It was a small ceremony composed of all the people that mattered. This was exactly what she had envisioned and I was super glad that we had managed to bring it to life. "Hey." She beamed at me as soon as I clasped my hands in hers. "Hey," I replied to her and led her up to the altar. We both faced each other and even though we were surrounded by quite a few people, she was the only one I could see right now. God, my entire world is composed of her. It was so interesting how I had gone from not caring about any woman at all to caring about one woman so much and the little life she was growing within her.Yeah, you heard that ri
Blake's POV I quickly parked in front of the shelter Jeffery had sent me the location of. The police were still on their way according to their last report. I was advised to stand down and wait until they got here, but I just couldn't. This was Helen we were talking about for God's sake. I was not ready to let any harm come to her. My private security was with me, and that was all the protection I would need. I could hear the sounds of gunshots, and I was certain it was Jeffrey and the small team he had brought here to work. "Sir, I would need you to stay here in the vehicle while we go out there and assess the situation. As soon as it is safe for you to come out, I will let you know." The head of Helen's bodyguards said. I shot the man a harsh glare, reminding him that all of this was half his fault. If only he had ignored all her silly warnings and stayed with her, none of this would be happening. "Fine, you can come with us, but you need to stay behind me at all times." He wa
Helen's POV "Please just let me go. I promise you that I would not say a word about this to anyone." I said after the bodyguard was done tying me up. "Unfortunately, that is not possible. Blake and all the security agencies are already looking for you. If they find you, they would hound you for the truth and you would sing like a canary. I can not afford to have you rat me out to the police." The old man said. "I won't mention your name. Look, we can pin it on Isabella. I will tell them I managed to escape from her and that will be all. Please, just let me go. Remember that I am your son's wife." I said and quickly regretted that. He hated the fact that I was Blake's wife. I was supposed to be a constant source of irritation for Blake and not the woman whom he loves with his all. It was crazy and annoying all at the same time. "Well, I never wanted you to get married to my son in the first place. Moreover, with what you have done to Isabella, I think it is only fair that you suff
Helen's POVI fretted as I watched my sister go unconscious beneath me. I grabbed her hand and tried to wake her up, but she wasn't responding. I could not tell if I had killed her or not and I felt really bad. "Helen, you need to get a hold of yourself. You didn't kill her. Even if she is dead, it is not your fault. You are simply trying to escape." I said to myself, trying to calm my racing heart down. How quickly everything had changed was still a surprise to me. Who would have thought that the reason why my sister hated me so much was because I was pretty and good? All my life, I had thought I was not good enough and it was the reason why they all hated me. Well, now I know the truth and if I managed to escape from here today, I would never listen to her again. "You would not have been in this situation if you had just listened to Blake," I said to myself as I walked towards the door that led out of the bunker. The path leading to it was slant, helping to make it easy for on
Isabella's POV I walked from one corner of the bunker to the other, thinking of the best way to kill Helen. I had not expected that Blake would be so swift in his search for Helen. I had assumed that I would have enough time to torture her well enough to make her death memorable. But with Mike's call, I had to rush all of this, and it would no longer be any fun for me. "You know, instead of prancing from one corner to the other, you should kill me and get done and over with this." Helen hissed at me from behind me. I turned around, faced her, and brushed my teeth."You are funny, you know that right? You are my prisoner and I can do whatever it is that I want to do to you. You have absolutely no right to tell me what to do. If I want to kill you, then I will kill you right now and here." I hissed at her, my hate for her multiplied in multiple dimensions. "Then kill me now and get done and over with it." She spat at me. I touched the thick, slimy liquid she had thrown on my face
Blake's POV "So what exactly is it that she has against you that would make you release her from prison when she had tried to kill your son?" I asked him. He was my dad and ought to have my back all the time, so why was he betraying me? Did he hate me so much that he was willing to work with my enemy? "Something against me?" He raised a brow. "Oh, please, stop acting like I am a fool. I know you well enough. You would not free her if she didn't have something incriminating against you.”“Trust me, Skylar isn't so valuable to you that you would free her for no reason. She must have something against you and you must tell me what it is right now." I hissed at him."And if I refuse to tell you?" He raised a brow."Trust me, Dad, you don't want to cross me." I threatened. He sighed and fell into his chair. "Fine. We were lovers. She managed to get a couple of recordings against me and threatened she would leak them out to the public if I didn't help her. Now, there you have it. That
Blake's POV I sat in a nondescript van a few meters away from my dad's home watching him. I couldn't shake off the feeling that he knew something and was willing to stay here until I finally got the information from him that I needed. With Jeffery's help, I was able to slip a bug into his home, but that hadn't turned anything out yet.It didn't cover everywhere in the house, and I couldn't tell if he had found the bug and was simply keeping it shut so as not to implicate himself. My dad was a smart man and one needed to act smartly around him. My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I pulled out, eager to get some updates. The police had been informed, Helen's security team was searching for her and my private investigator was on the move. I was expecting an update from all three teams, and thankfully, it was my private investigator calling me. "Please, tell me that you have found that bitch." I hissed into the phone. "Yes, we have and I have her here with me. I will send you our loca
Helen's POVMy eyes fluttered open and pain exploded in my head. I tried to place a hand on my head to manage the pain, but I saw that I could not lift my hands. My hands were tied to my legs with a tight rope. I was lying on my side and couldn't exactly say where I was, except that everywhere was dark and I was in motion. The last thing I recalled was walking into the bathroom with Isabella. Isabella! I thought and my eyes popped wide open. Where the hell was she and what had happened to the both of us?"Isabella?" I called out, but there was no response. I shut my eyes, trying to recall what the hell had happened and how I ended up here. A bump caused my eyes to snap open, pulling me out of my focused state. It was so hard to stay focused in this state, and I wondered where I was being taken. The fact that I could not recall a thing only managed to get me so annoyed and I wanted to run mad. "Who the hell are you and what do you want with me?" I hissed and banged hard on the ro
Blake's POV "I am so so sorry about this sir. I don't know how all of this had happened. She went out to the restroom with her younger sister and since Mrs. Robinson had given me and my men a firm warning never to follow her to the bathroom, we decided to keep our distance. I am still very much clueless on how the hell this happened." The head of Helen's security said to me the moment he walked over to me.I glared at the man and even though I could see the regret and pain in his eyes, I jerked him by the collar and pushed him into the wall. His negligence had just cost me so much pain and there was no way in hell I was letting this go as just some innocent mistake. He had hurt me, and I was going to make sure that he felt every ounce of pain I was feeling."You had one job to do, only one freaking job and you had to mess that up. Isn't that silly? I thought you were a professional, I didn't know that you were a big clown. God, I regret ever working with you.”“Just pray, pray with
