We all stopped and looked at her. “Of course we can talk.” I said, turning to fully face her. She walked up to me and looked very nervous. Her body was shaking in fear. “I just wanted..” She fell down crying. Walking up to her, I kneeled down beside her. “It’s okay, I-” I was a moment too late. The sliver blade caught me off guard as she tried to stab me with a knife. Tina was very strong so the knife didn’t go in deep but deep enough. “What the fuck?” Dax yelled as he rolled me over to see what had happened. The knife was sticking out of my stomach. Tina’s body began to shake and her eyes turned fully red. Dax dragged me away from Tina. She chanted something I didn’t understand, but suddenly stopped and looked over to my left, smiling evilly. “Hello, Mila. We meet again!” Mila walked over, shaking but holding her own. “Astra, I should have known. Your power is weak here, as I have been laying down protective measures.” “Maybe for now, but we will meet again!” Tina scream
“My ranking men are all chipped. We will know where he is at.” Dax said calmly, looking at the forest. “We need to have a plan. We can’t just walk into her den without a plan of attack. It’s not like we know how to kill her.” I frowned at the thought. “It just feels wrong to not follow him.” Mila laid back into Jason. “I called for your parents to go to their office. We need to head that way.” Jason said firmly. Dax was annoyed at his tone, but it didn’t bother me. It wasn’t like he was taking over my job. Silently, we walked to my parent’s office. Thankfully, their office is large enough for a group of people. They hadn’t arrived by the time we got there, so we sat in silence until they showed up. It did feel wrong to not go follow him but we did need a plan. “What happened?” Mom asked as they came in. “Basically, Calvin woke up and Astra has switched to him. He tied up Tina and was going to break the bond, but we stopped him. However, he ran away.” I said, summing it up. “
Neither Dax nor I slept at all last night. The sun was barely visible above the trees, but we were already dressed and ready to go. I was back in my comfy cargo pants, but this time, I have knives strapped to my leg and tucked in my waist. I had a black tank top tucked in so my gun vest fit better without my shirt bunching up under it. The tracker shows him deep in the mountains so we will be going on foot after being dropped in by an airplane. Only a few of us are going, since staying under the radar is more important. Obviously Dom, Dax and I are going. Mom, Ben and another warrior named Kevin are also going. Kevin grew up in the mountains, so bring him made more sense. Dad is staying behind to make sure nothing happens and to help Brittany monitor the tracker. He isn’t happy about it, but since mom is the one with the powers; she needed to go. “You ready?” Mom asked me via mind-link. “Yeah, just finishing up tying my boots up.” “Great, the tracker still hasn’t changed. We nee
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! The knife in my hand was a purple stained leather with green emeralds embedded into it. The shaft was thicker that balanced perfectly with the blade. The blade itself was black with a silver gleam to it when you moved it into the light. I had no idea what I should do, but I knew we needed to stop the bleeding and the only way I know how to stop bleeding is to cauterize it. “Dom, I need one of your knives and a lighter.” It took him a second to process my request before his eyes squinted at me. I chose to ignore him as I kneeled down and tried to heal him myself. Keeping ahold of the bond, I felt the heat in my hands for one a few seconds before it went out. I looked at my bloody hands and back at mom who also looked panic-stricken. “Here.” Dom said before walking off. He couldn’t watch it. Mom ripped Dax’s shirt off and the rest of the vest that was still hanging on. The laceration went from his spine and curved under his shoulder blade. With shaking hands, the l
Sarah POV “Sarah? I have someone you need to meet.” Dom had opened my bedroom door without knocking for the third time in the last two days. Two fucking days. 48 hours of an unconscious Dax. His back was not improving but actually getting worst. It had turned a nasty shade of green. The doctor had given him an antibiotic but said it most likely won’t help given the poison he was injected with. “Seriously?” I asked, slamming my book shut. “Yes, if it wasn’t important, I wouldn’t be bothering you.” “Fine, take them to my office. I will be there shortly.” I said dismissively. I was looking horrible, so if I was going to socialize with anyone, I needed to freshen up. Thankfully, I was only one day two of dry shampoo, so adding some more and styling it in a braid and putting on dressy loose shorts and a nicer t-shirt, I made my way to my office. The door was open and two men were talking. I was stunned into silence as I turned the corner. There was another man looking exactly like
Nina POV Wyatt, Reed, and I were piled into a vehicle with a few warriors as we made our way to the abandoned jail that they held me in. Jason and Mila were in another vehicle as she was feeling very anxious and seeing other men right now was a little much. My heart broke for her. Having to go back to the place that they held you captive and raped was not something to take lightly. Thankfully, I didn’t have those kinds of memories. I kept having flashbacks from waking up in that cell. No food, that skimpy dress and only having a bucket to pee in. It was really the start of my very long journey of taking Grant down. To say I was feeling very anxious over having to do it again was an understatement. It costed Wyatt is sister and me, my best friend. Our line of cars slowed down as it creeped along an old abandoned road. I could tell that it has been used more since the last time I was here. The weeds had been pushed down with a clear path to follow. Slowly, the jail started coming in
Sarah POV The bond snapped like a rubber band being stretched too far as Dax took his last breath. I couldn’t breathe as the air was stuck in my throat. My heart literally dropped to my stomach with so much weight that I thought I had physically lost it. The knife that had pierced it twisted a little more as tears sprang to my eyes. “NO!” I finally got out. My hand clutched my chest, as all I could do was stare at the man that had claimed my heart in such a short time. He hadn’t moved or even shown any signs that he would survive this, but I always had hope. Now the only thing that is left is hatred. “DAX!” Damian shouted as he realized what had happened and ran to the bedside. He checked his pulse. Falling to the ground, his head rested on his arm. Dom came over and pulled me into a hug. I barely could acknowledge what happened as I was still struggling to breathe. My bedroom door opened as my parents walked through. They instantly realized what happened as they took in Damian an
I was groggy as I woke up and superconfused. Looking around, I was in my bed and in the workout clothes I had on. I smelled disgusting and was sticky from the dried sweat. The events of yesterday came rushing back as I felt the cold, empty bed beside me. Dax had died and Damian gave me something in the water that put me to sleep. To say I was livid was an understatement. A knock on the door stopped me in my tracks to the bathroom. The door knob was cold as I turned it, pulling the heavy door open. My mom stood there with a tray of food. “Hi.” I said, opening it wide enough for her to come in. “Hey, sweety. I know you are pissed, but I had Damian put something in the water. You needed to sleep, and I knew you weren’t going to otherwise.” The betrayal that I felt shocked me. My own mother? “WHAT?” “Look, caring for you mental health right now is important for you to survive this. You have to survive this and that’s final. If I have to drug you every day to sleep, then I will.” She

Damian POVI watched her perfect ass walk to the bathroom. I had to hide a laugh as her legs were still shaking. I needed a minute. Sitting on the couch, my mind went over the last few hours. I wasn’t sure what happened but when I saw Dax’s ghost, my heart sank. Then he had the little boy but the worst part was that Sarah wasn’t shocked to see him. She knew he was there. She must have talked to him. I tried to keep the doubt from filling me that she would have chose him. “Damian.” A voice I thought I’d never hear again was clear as day.My head instantly shot up. I was in complete disbelief to see Dax standing in front of me. My mouth opened a few times but nothing came out.”Wa-”“The Moon Goddess is allowing me a five minute visit. I came to tell you that she is all yours. She has accepted I died and she loves you with her whole heart. I was never meant to live through this. This was always how it was suppose to work. She saved you as much as you saved her. It’s cruel how things end
Our bodies froze as I pushed the knife in until I felt his blood run down my hand. Twisting the knife counter clockwise at 90 degrees, I made sure he wouldn’t survive the tree days it would take to suck his soul out. “NO!!” Astra yelled out as she watched Grant fall off me, holding the knife. His eyes landed on her as blood seeped from his eyes, nose and mouth. Kicking him away from me, I grabbed my side breathing heavily. “Give it up. You are finished!” Astra’s eyes went straight back as she chanted something before lifting her head up and screamed. Black smoke formed between us as a sort of bird manifested in front of me. It looked like a Raven but beefed up. Maybe more like a dragon but either way, it’s beady red eyes were focused on me. I reacted on instinct as my shield went up right as it shot something white at me. It was like little daggers hitting my shield so hard that it caused me to fall to the ground, under the pressure. The creature didn’t stop it’s attack. T
I had no idea what to do. Running back into the hut, Maverick’s laugher became background noise. Sliding on my knees, I skidded to a stop, right in front of my mom. Her body was cold as ice. “MOM!” I yelled. Shaking her, she did not respond. I didn’t even think before pulling my hand back and slapping her arm across the face. Nothing. She didn’t move or even flinch as my hand made contact with her body. I looked frantically around, for anything to help. My eyes landed on Dax’s name. Glancing over quickly at Astra, she was still saying an chant. As quietly as I could, I tiptoed my way over to the shelf and uncorked Dax’s vial with shaking hands. The smoke shot out of it. Before it knew it, a ghostly figure that reselmed Dax stood in front of me. “You have to stop her!” Dax looked at me with urgency. “How? What do I do?” My heart ached for him. “I could knock the cauldron over but she could just pick it back up again!” “You can do this. You need to think. Your mother and you joined
Everything had darken as it looked like not a single ray of sun was hitting these trees. Cages of monkeys were hanging from the branches just above my head. They were thrashing around with a crazed look in their eyes. My heart kept breaking as we slowly walked deeper into the heinous environment. Baskets lined the path with a variety of items. Some where of insects and some where of different spices or herbs. The smell is what caused me the most discomfort. Rotten flesh or decaying fecal matter is so potent that I not even sure it will come out of these clothes. As the path opened up, there was three huts in a half circle at the end of the path. A firepit at in the middle with a cauldron resting on top of it. Purple smoke was going straight up through a small opening in the trees, creating a dome shape in the canopy. “Let’s continue the tour, shall we?” Maverick gestured to the first hut on the left. Glancing behind me, the trees had closed around the path we just took as it was no
Staying on my hands and knees, I slowly waved my arm out as I scooted forward. That stupid chair should be here, somewhere. Finally, my fingers grazed passed the cold metal as the boat shifted to the left. My stomach did a little twist that raised all the hairs on my body. I better not get sea sick in here! Picturing what the chair looked like, it would be easy to just melt the metal into one solid rod that I could sculpt. It was hard doing this in the dark but I was able to heat the metal up enough that the chair was now bent in a little cube. It was slow work for sure but using on hand, I was able to squeeze it together and pull out until it was shaped like a spear. While the metal was still hot, I extended my fingernail and started putting in grooves in a spiral down the rod so it looked like one giant drill bit. Unfortunately, I had to wait for it to cool before I could see if it was even going to work. With my other hand on the wall, I moved it around until I felt the crack of
“What is that?” Tom whispered quietly as he got close to examine the bite mark. “A vampire bite.” I said, casually. All three men and two wolves turned their head to look at me. “W-what?” Tom and Maverick asked at the same time. “She wouldn’t tell us what we wanted to know so we got…creative.” I shrugged. “By turning her into a vampire?” Tom asked. “One one vampire’s bite can make a change like this…” Maverick trailed off. “Winner winner, chicken dinner.” “You-you intentionally turned her into a vampire?” Tom asked, appalled. “Technically, no. Von is newly immortal and most not understand self control but my heart isn’t breaking for that bitch. I’ll kill her before her transformation is complete.” “Fucking ice princess….” Tom said as he pulled her shirt back down. “I’ll go get the food.” Maverick muttered as he walked into town. “Why ice princess?” I laughed as I walked to a tree and sat down. “You are literally choosing to be here. You could easily go invade her comp
“Shit!” Cynthia whispered as she pulled me to the floor. Should have known there was a security system. “Oh bummer…” I obviously faked concern. “What does Damian even see if you?” Cynthia said through clinched teeth. “Not much to look at and you have a mouth that gets you into trouble.” “Not sure what to tell you.” I smirked as the front door opened. “WHO’S IN HERE?” A voice boomed. The smell was human and as I peaked out from behind the clothes, he wasn’t going to chase us very far. Apparently, Cynthia made the same observation. As the police officer walked in, we made our way to the front. Sprinting quickly, we ran out the front door. “HEY! GET BACK HERE!” He bellowed. His breathing was already heavy as he exited the door. We were already in the woods and in a full sprint by the time he even hit the grass. “Burg… (deep breath) i-in progress… (deep breath) send-send help…” is all we heard. We were far enough that his voice became a whisper to us, but we kept running in case a d
“Not sure how to make that much clearer for you!” Cynthia looked at me with hate-filled eyes. It was all I could do to stare back. She had to find a human to sacrifice to prove her loyalty to Astra? Well shit. We weren’t going to fully break her. I doubt any amount of torturing will make her give us what we want. Maybe we can use this to our advantage? Von was looking at me, waiting for the go ahead, and Cynthia had put her head down as her breathing leveled out. “What are you thinking?” Damian mind-linked me. “She isn’t going to break. We are going about this wrong. It would be the same if I commanded you to not speak. You wouldn’t be physically able to say anything to whomever.” “Hmm.” “We need to change tactics. Let her think she is giving us bad information and use her to take us to them. We can’t wait for the eclipse. That’s too long if they have already cut mom and dad with the knife. Just follow my lead.” I said to Damian. I really hope this works. “What if I told you
