Thank you all for reading!
Sarah POV The bond snapped like a rubber band being stretched too far as Dax took his last breath. I couldn’t breathe as the air was stuck in my throat. My heart literally dropped to my stomach with so much weight that I thought I had physically lost it. The knife that had pierced it twisted a little more as tears sprang to my eyes. “NO!” I finally got out. My hand clutched my chest, as all I could do was stare at the man that had claimed my heart in such a short time. He hadn’t moved or even shown any signs that he would survive this, but I always had hope. Now the only thing that is left is hatred. “DAX!” Damian shouted as he realized what had happened and ran to the bedside. He checked his pulse. Falling to the ground, his head rested on his arm. Dom came over and pulled me into a hug. I barely could acknowledge what happened as I was still struggling to breathe. My bedroom door opened as my parents walked through. They instantly realized what happened as they took in Damian an
I was groggy as I woke up and superconfused. Looking around, I was in my bed and in the workout clothes I had on. I smelled disgusting and was sticky from the dried sweat. The events of yesterday came rushing back as I felt the cold, empty bed beside me. Dax had died and Damian gave me something in the water that put me to sleep. To say I was livid was an understatement. A knock on the door stopped me in my tracks to the bathroom. The door knob was cold as I turned it, pulling the heavy door open. My mom stood there with a tray of food. “Hi.” I said, opening it wide enough for her to come in. “Hey, sweety. I know you are pissed, but I had Damian put something in the water. You needed to sleep, and I knew you weren’t going to otherwise.” The betrayal that I felt shocked me. My own mother? “WHAT?” “Look, caring for you mental health right now is important for you to survive this. You have to survive this and that’s final. If I have to drug you every day to sleep, then I will.” She
“Oh, well, before I found Dax, I had guys constantly asking for my hand or wanting to go on dates. Some were even stalker-ish. Now that I am single again, they will really be after me. I have to have a king in order to become a queen. I can’t just take the throne. Unless I mate with someone, I won’t be queen. People only want me for my power. No one actually ties to know the real me. So, mom and I nicknamed them vultures. Always picking on someone less than.” Damian frowned at that. He didn’t comment either, but drove in silence. It wasn’t until we got back to the palace that he spoke. “Can’t your parents just change the law?” “Yes, but no. That law is one of the first ever laws that was made at the very beginning. It was one of those laws you just don’t touch. Just because we can do whatever doesn’t mean we should. What kind of rulers would we be if we changed every law to suit our own needs?” Damian offered me a hand as I stepped off the golf cart. I took it as I was still feel
“Dad caught me sneaking back in the next day. I had left without telling Ann Marie and she ran and told dad on me. After that, I was just a fuck up in dad’s eyes. She broke up with me and I got punished.” “I remember that. This was all right before Dax’s birthday. We were told to grow up and take responsibilities for our actions. After that, we straighten up and put that part of us behind and never stepped out of line again.” Dom remembered what had happened. “We did so many stupid things as kids. The two biggest regrets of my life.” Damian shook his head. Brittany was rubbing Dom’s back as his mind was in the past. “Either way, he hears things. He might have an idea what could be happening. I have to check and see. I can’t let this go and wonder. It is a dangerous place.” Dom looked at Brittany, who had a very concerned look on her face, but nodded. “Agreed. If he can tell us anything about Grant, we have to know.” Dom and Damian looked at me. “I live for the thrill.” I said
"Remember, we are a couple.” Damian whispered in my ear as we stepped out of the restaurant. He had put his arm across my waist. Dom appeared on my other side like a fucking bodyguard. Skipping the line, Damian walked up to the bouncer and showed him a card in his wallet. The bouncer immediately opened the ropes and let us walk in. There, a waitress, wearing what looked like a lingerie set, walked us pasted the bar and to a lounge sitting area on the second floor. The dance floor was in the middle and music was blaring so loud that I could barely hear myself think. “Three whiskeys.” Dom spoke to the waitress and slipped a $50 into her hands. She needed and waked away. There was a table in the middle of the half circle couch, so we all scooted in after one another. I did my part and sat right against Damian and let him put his arm around me. Our drinks were dropped off but the waitress didn’t leave. “Samuel, are you ready for our usual dance?” “Maybe later, sweet cheeks.” She smil
Two vampires opened his cage and grabbed him as they drugged a fighting Calvin to the ring. Tossing him in, they slammed the door shut and then went and got his challenger. “The first fighter has been with us for a few fights now and has proven to be undefeatable! His challenger is new to the club, so let’s review the rules. Rule number two, because we all know rule number one.” Everyone laughed at his joke. “Rule number 2: Everything is fair game. You fight till one dies.” The challenger was thrown in and the bell dinged, signaling for the fight to start. I had grabbed Damian’s arm as the two men ran at each other. Calvin delivered a quick jab to his rips before going for the uppercut. The opponent was quick as he dropped down and swiped his legs out from under him. Calvin hit hard as boos were sounded across the room. I took my eyes off the fight as my timing had to be perfect for this to work like it should. I landed on a witch going into the woman’s bathroom. I hope Calvin
“Wrong. Not only are you my Alpha and princess, you are my family. With or without Dax. He would have expected me to protect you, even if it was from yourself.” “Damian said Dax made him promise to look after me if anything happened to him. Now I have a babysitter.” “Interesting way to look at it.” “Why so?” “Dax knew that if he died, you couldn’t become queen. He wanted you to be queen. He thought you were good at it so he asked the one person who he knew would treat you good to protect you.” “You make it sound like he wanted me to hook up with his brother.” “Not hook up, but mate with. You can fulfill your dream and destiny to be a queen. It’s like he picked who he wanted you to be with. To ensure you were taken care of.” “Hmm, I prefer the term babysitter. I can’t imagine taking another mate, let alone someone who pities me. What would people think of me if I jumped into bed with the first guy I met after he died? Besides, he doesn’t want me like that.” “That is not wha
Sarah POV “Change of plans!” Damian found the basketball goal and ball. Sliding it over to the poolside, he snapped it into place. Standing there with his shorts low on his hips, showing off that V in his muscles and acting like he had no idea how he made my body shudder. “Hell yeah! Girls verse guys?” Dom held up his hand for a high five. “No!” I said, standing up. “That would be unfair!” “You would never pass me the ball!” Brittany frowned at Dom. “Me and Dom, verse Damian and Brittany?” “Perfect!” Brittany smiled. “Dom can guard Damian and I can guard you!” that way it kept me from touching Damian. Damian slid into the water and made his way to the other side to start the game. “Sounds good. Ready ol’ man?” “Old man? I am only two years older than you!” Dom stood at his full height as he approached Damian. “Yeah, and slower!” Damian pulled the basketball to his side as he crouched down, signaling he was ready to go. Faking a jab to the left, he tried to go right but

Damian POVI watched her perfect ass walk to the bathroom. I had to hide a laugh as her legs were still shaking. I needed a minute. Sitting on the couch, my mind went over the last few hours. I wasn’t sure what happened but when I saw Dax’s ghost, my heart sank. Then he had the little boy but the worst part was that Sarah wasn’t shocked to see him. She knew he was there. She must have talked to him. I tried to keep the doubt from filling me that she would have chose him. “Damian.” A voice I thought I’d never hear again was clear as day.My head instantly shot up. I was in complete disbelief to see Dax standing in front of me. My mouth opened a few times but nothing came out.”Wa-”“The Moon Goddess is allowing me a five minute visit. I came to tell you that she is all yours. She has accepted I died and she loves you with her whole heart. I was never meant to live through this. This was always how it was suppose to work. She saved you as much as you saved her. It’s cruel how things end
Our bodies froze as I pushed the knife in until I felt his blood run down my hand. Twisting the knife counter clockwise at 90 degrees, I made sure he wouldn’t survive the tree days it would take to suck his soul out. “NO!!” Astra yelled out as she watched Grant fall off me, holding the knife. His eyes landed on her as blood seeped from his eyes, nose and mouth. Kicking him away from me, I grabbed my side breathing heavily. “Give it up. You are finished!” Astra’s eyes went straight back as she chanted something before lifting her head up and screamed. Black smoke formed between us as a sort of bird manifested in front of me. It looked like a Raven but beefed up. Maybe more like a dragon but either way, it’s beady red eyes were focused on me. I reacted on instinct as my shield went up right as it shot something white at me. It was like little daggers hitting my shield so hard that it caused me to fall to the ground, under the pressure. The creature didn’t stop it’s attack. T
I had no idea what to do. Running back into the hut, Maverick’s laugher became background noise. Sliding on my knees, I skidded to a stop, right in front of my mom. Her body was cold as ice. “MOM!” I yelled. Shaking her, she did not respond. I didn’t even think before pulling my hand back and slapping her arm across the face. Nothing. She didn’t move or even flinch as my hand made contact with her body. I looked frantically around, for anything to help. My eyes landed on Dax’s name. Glancing over quickly at Astra, she was still saying an chant. As quietly as I could, I tiptoed my way over to the shelf and uncorked Dax’s vial with shaking hands. The smoke shot out of it. Before it knew it, a ghostly figure that reselmed Dax stood in front of me. “You have to stop her!” Dax looked at me with urgency. “How? What do I do?” My heart ached for him. “I could knock the cauldron over but she could just pick it back up again!” “You can do this. You need to think. Your mother and you joined
Everything had darken as it looked like not a single ray of sun was hitting these trees. Cages of monkeys were hanging from the branches just above my head. They were thrashing around with a crazed look in their eyes. My heart kept breaking as we slowly walked deeper into the heinous environment. Baskets lined the path with a variety of items. Some where of insects and some where of different spices or herbs. The smell is what caused me the most discomfort. Rotten flesh or decaying fecal matter is so potent that I not even sure it will come out of these clothes. As the path opened up, there was three huts in a half circle at the end of the path. A firepit at in the middle with a cauldron resting on top of it. Purple smoke was going straight up through a small opening in the trees, creating a dome shape in the canopy. “Let’s continue the tour, shall we?” Maverick gestured to the first hut on the left. Glancing behind me, the trees had closed around the path we just took as it was no
Staying on my hands and knees, I slowly waved my arm out as I scooted forward. That stupid chair should be here, somewhere. Finally, my fingers grazed passed the cold metal as the boat shifted to the left. My stomach did a little twist that raised all the hairs on my body. I better not get sea sick in here! Picturing what the chair looked like, it would be easy to just melt the metal into one solid rod that I could sculpt. It was hard doing this in the dark but I was able to heat the metal up enough that the chair was now bent in a little cube. It was slow work for sure but using on hand, I was able to squeeze it together and pull out until it was shaped like a spear. While the metal was still hot, I extended my fingernail and started putting in grooves in a spiral down the rod so it looked like one giant drill bit. Unfortunately, I had to wait for it to cool before I could see if it was even going to work. With my other hand on the wall, I moved it around until I felt the crack of
“What is that?” Tom whispered quietly as he got close to examine the bite mark. “A vampire bite.” I said, casually. All three men and two wolves turned their head to look at me. “W-what?” Tom and Maverick asked at the same time. “She wouldn’t tell us what we wanted to know so we got…creative.” I shrugged. “By turning her into a vampire?” Tom asked. “One one vampire’s bite can make a change like this…” Maverick trailed off. “Winner winner, chicken dinner.” “You-you intentionally turned her into a vampire?” Tom asked, appalled. “Technically, no. Von is newly immortal and most not understand self control but my heart isn’t breaking for that bitch. I’ll kill her before her transformation is complete.” “Fucking ice princess….” Tom said as he pulled her shirt back down. “I’ll go get the food.” Maverick muttered as he walked into town. “Why ice princess?” I laughed as I walked to a tree and sat down. “You are literally choosing to be here. You could easily go invade her comp
“Shit!” Cynthia whispered as she pulled me to the floor. Should have known there was a security system. “Oh bummer…” I obviously faked concern. “What does Damian even see if you?” Cynthia said through clinched teeth. “Not much to look at and you have a mouth that gets you into trouble.” “Not sure what to tell you.” I smirked as the front door opened. “WHO’S IN HERE?” A voice boomed. The smell was human and as I peaked out from behind the clothes, he wasn’t going to chase us very far. Apparently, Cynthia made the same observation. As the police officer walked in, we made our way to the front. Sprinting quickly, we ran out the front door. “HEY! GET BACK HERE!” He bellowed. His breathing was already heavy as he exited the door. We were already in the woods and in a full sprint by the time he even hit the grass. “Burg… (deep breath) i-in progress… (deep breath) send-send help…” is all we heard. We were far enough that his voice became a whisper to us, but we kept running in case a d
“Not sure how to make that much clearer for you!” Cynthia looked at me with hate-filled eyes. It was all I could do to stare back. She had to find a human to sacrifice to prove her loyalty to Astra? Well shit. We weren’t going to fully break her. I doubt any amount of torturing will make her give us what we want. Maybe we can use this to our advantage? Von was looking at me, waiting for the go ahead, and Cynthia had put her head down as her breathing leveled out. “What are you thinking?” Damian mind-linked me. “She isn’t going to break. We are going about this wrong. It would be the same if I commanded you to not speak. You wouldn’t be physically able to say anything to whomever.” “Hmm.” “We need to change tactics. Let her think she is giving us bad information and use her to take us to them. We can’t wait for the eclipse. That’s too long if they have already cut mom and dad with the knife. Just follow my lead.” I said to Damian. I really hope this works. “What if I told you
