NINETY

“No!” I screamed with all my might and felt my body collapse on the ground. My hands shot to my ears and the monster screamed so loud, the sound echoed throughout the forest. “Run! Don’t look back!” I shouted to the terrified kid.

At this point, I had no idea if the kid was still around, covering nearby, all I cared about was to get the innocent soul away from me. There had to be a way to control this… To control the thirst.

I could feel my fingers painfully digging into the ground as the thing inside me fought my attempts to hold it back.

Just like earlier, I lost the grip a couple of times, as if I was losing consciousness, but somehow, I managed to hold my ground and come back every single time.

Once the creature was worn out, the resistance faded and all I could hear were angered hisses that came from the back of my mind.

“You’re all mighty and humane now, are you? Wait until you realize the consequences that come when you refuse to feed. Die for all I care,” it snarl
