“What’s going on? Are you okay? Did something happen?” I asked as my heart rate picked up.

It couldn’t be that everything fell on our shoulders at once. I found it hard to believe that the danger kept knocking on our door over and over again.

Judging by how frantic Mathilda sounded… I had to fear the worst.

“Eden, I can’t talk for long, I think they’re listening. But you need to come here as soon as you can. I know what’s happening, I know who’s planning to-” she didn’t get the chance to finish what she was saying when the line cut.

My hands shook as I started screaming her name. It was no use, I knew that much, but I still couldn’t stop calling for her. Fate had to have something in its cards for me, it had to give me at least one leverage.
