“Is she near?” I asked the general.

“I believe so,” the general grunted, skimming through the paperwork.

I still had no idea why he wanted that bug-sized girl. He had mentioned something about how precious her blood was, but even without her, we could survive for a couple of hundred years on the frozen reserves we had.

Deep down, I knew there had to be more than blood. The general had never acted this out of character, he had never wandered the place like a lost child, stuck in his mind.

But what could be the reason for a man such as a general to act like that? Ever since I had known him, he has been the most level-headed individual I’ve had the pleasure to meet.

A loud groan caught my attention and pulled me out of my thoughts.

General sat down and tossed some of the paper pages away, making more frustrated sounds.

“What’s wrong?” I asked, careful not to appear too excited to find out more.
