Chapter Three: Betrayed

Kathie was left in disorientation. This face…

 This wasn't her face. The face she saw in the mirror wasn't hers. She didn't have any blue eyes nor did she have any blonde hair.

"What exactly is going on?!" Kathie yelled with a vague expression on her face.

Kathie's heartbeat increased as anxiety surfaced. She was terrified.

" How am I going to explain to the world what happened?!" She asked herself, trembling with fear.

The doctor wasn't getting all that was happening. She stood there looking at the lady in front of her oddly.

How can someone forget what they look like? If not madness what would that be? The doctor asked herself in her mind.

" I don't understand what is going on," Doctor Emily asked, after trying to fathom what was happening but couldn't process a bit of the situation.

The voice of the Doctor brought Kathie who has zoned out back to reality. She has been on her head ever since she discovered that she now has a different body and face.

 She immediately turned to face the doctor with a pleading look on her face.

" Doctor please tell me the truth, did you not perform any surgery on my face?"

Doctor Emily gave out a frown at that question. " Why will I do such a thing? You weren't that badly injured.  Just a broken head, a stab, and some kind of internal injuries that didn't need your appearance to be changed "

" Then what happened to me?! How do I explain this?!" Kathie screamed, pointing at her face. She seemed to be in a kind of panic.

Doctor Emily didn't answer that. She still couldn't figure out what was going on. She stood there completely stupefied.

Many questions came rushing into Kathie's mind but no one held a solid explanation for what happened to her.

'Did I get reincarnated?' Kathie asked herself. ' No, but that only happens in fantasy stories. This is real life,'

 'Or was my soul shifted? No, that is impossible. Kathie, it seems like you have been watching a lot of myth movies nowadays, but how do I explain what happened to me?!'

Kathie Martinez was a very bright lady with a beautiful face that was admired by all her peers.

She had long black hair, deep hazel eyes, and smooth skin. Such indeed a beauty.

Even at a young age, Kathie had always loved modeling. Modeling has always been her dream starting from childhood but no one was ready to sponsor her.

Kathie was an orphan. She lost her family at a very tender age. Her mother died while giving birth to her and her father in a car accident and she was left with nothing, no money, and no relatives.

However, that did hinder her back...

At the age of sixteen, Kathie started chasing her dream. She went for an audition at an agency and passed the test.

There, she started her career from scratch. As of then, nobody knew her but when her name started getting popular because of her dedication to her work, enemies started flying from all sides.

Even as her name started climbing up to the highest ladder Kathie didn't feel like she was satisfied.

She always felt like something was missing and that was….

… her crush on her boss. C.E.O of Henrich agency, Frederick Stuart.

Her feelings for this particular man have no boundaries, however, the man she was dying so deeply for, always pretends not to notice her.

At that time, Kathie thought that it was because she was an upcoming model that was the reason her boss didn't notice her and that gave her the motivation to start working harder.

She gave her all into modeling and it worked…she became an international model, and that was when Frederick started noticing her, even then, Frederick still sees her as an employee nothing more than that.

However, as she was about to give up her crush on her boss, something changed. As if the man could hear her thoughts, he started treating her better than a boss could treat his employees.

After some time, their relationship started going deeper until they officially became lovers.

And that was when Kathie's hidden enemies began to show themselves. Kathie's life became at risk. Her life suddenly flips upside down.

 But there was one thing Kathie regretted most in her life even still now.

Betrayal…

There was this man and a woman by the name of Karen and Jackson Kathie picked from the street. 

They were from the trenches so Kathie decided to put them to use. She made the man her assistant while the woman, a cleaner in the agency.

To add to what was being said, these particular people that were being talked about were dying of poverty when Kathie picked them and gave them a job, however, Kathie couldn't believe that the very people she saved would one day go against her. 

She had never for one day treated her two employees inadequately. Every gift sent to Kathie by her fans, she always shares it with her employees.

But she never saw what was coming her way.

After five months of friendship with her boss, they finally agreed to get married and set a date.

The marriage was a heavy one full of energy. The ceremony pulled the crowd, both friends, fans, and distinguished ladies and gentlemen were all there.

The wedding was indeed fun and full of joy. However, Kathie didn't know that that wedding was going to be her last party on earth.

It happened that night after the wedding. Kathie was still greeting all those who attended her wedding when she received a call from her husband. 

Her husband asked her to come to a hotel he had booked that night so that they could spend the night there, and this particular hotel was an expensive one that was built in the capital of the city.

This surprised Kathie because she didn't know when her husband left, however, she still followed up the request and went out that night to look for her husband.

She took her manager with her and also her assistant, Jackson that night to go and meet her husband.

Kathie's manager… Francesca Cox has always been her best friend and the one who taught her everything she knew. She was like a sister to her and the one she cherished the most.

So on their way to the hotel, they saw a girl standing in the middle of the road and stopped.

The girl was wearing a hoodie and no matter the level of horn being blown at her the girl refused to move out of the way.

It was finally when the girl removed the hoodie on her head that everything became clear, the girl was working for the enemy but before they could take any action, Jackson shot Kathie's manager.

Kathie was still in a daze at what was happening in front of her but before she could react, she was knocked hard in the head. 

When she regained consciousness, the place she saw herself was in a very severe situation, she was surrounded by thugs.

 Though, that wasn't what surprised her, what shocked her the most was that the very people she helped were standing in front of her with no sympathy at all.

She pleaded with them to let her go but they refused. She even remembered what she had done for them.

" Jackson and Karen please remember what I did for you guys, please don't hurt me like this" Tisha begged her two employees with tears that night but the response she got was what put her off.

" What did you do for us huh? You made me sweep and clean the whole agency and made Jackson carry your bags everywhere while you did nothing. Well, what we are doing now is the only way to get promoted, if we succeed in this we might be on the same level as you" Karen chuckled wickedly.

When someone was in danger he or she would always take any risk or chance to get out of the situation and that was exactly what Kathie tried to do. She tried to buy her way out.

" Please who are you guys working for and how much did he pay you?"

Jackson scoffed at the question before looking at her with a disdainful look.

" Do you think you can give what our boss is about to give us if we kill you? No is the answer but I will do you a favor, I will tell you who we are working for. His name is Frederick Stuart" 

Kathie was dumbfounded. She tilted her head to the side to understand what they meant because what he said didn't make any sense.

" No, that isn't possible. We just got married. He is my…." 

" Oh shut the hell up! " Karen huffed, "What do you know? Your husband told us that you have been forcing yourself on him. That the only reason he hasn't left was because you are the money maker and the strong pillar that holds his company". 

Jackson commenced from where  Karen stopped and continued, " He has tried many ways to bring you down but no one was working and that is when he decided to eliminate you so he can make another model like you who isn't forcing herself on him. He was the one that invited you out here, wasn't he?"

Bang! That was it. Soon everything began to move in slow motion. Kathie's soul got lost immediately.

As Kathie was still thinking about her current situation, a nurse ran into the ward in a rush.

When looking at the nurse, one could tell that she brought an important message but was waiting patiently for permission to speak even though she appeared anxious.

" Spit it out Amanda" Doctor Emily ordered, without glancing at the nurse.

" Ma, two police officers are here, they were carrying along two other middle-aged people who claim to be the parents of the patient"

" Okay. You may go" The doctor dismissed the nurse and she left. 

" I didn't get what she said," Kathie said immediately after she saw the nurse leave.

The Doctor was still giving her that weird look but she still managed to answer the question.

" She said your parents are here to see you" 

" My parents?" Kathie asked, seeming confused.
